  1. Angelle Trieste Says:

Revised 116 pages or so since the beginning of this month, so I’m pleased with my progress. :)

  2. Karen Duvall Says:

I wrote 1421 yesterday, but not as many today. The night’s still, uh, young? Sheesh, I’m going to bed.

  3. Melissa Blue Says:

Forgot to check in on Wednesday, but I did good this week (given I didn’t write for two days out of it) I wrote 7,590 still meeting my goal for the week. My goal this week is to write 9k that way next week I’ll only have 10k to finish the book and meet my original word count (which at the moment may be subject to change)

Oh, and my total word count is 35,328.

  4. Thomma Lyn Says:

8629 words written since Wednesday’s check-in — woot! This brings the total running word count for my NaNo Novel to 25,171 words. :D I’m rockin’ and rollin’ and smokin’ those keys!

  5. Susanna Carr Says:

After scraping some scenes and rewriting, this week I added 14,000 words on my single-title. I’m exhausted!

  6. Kim Knox Says:

I had to stop yesteday to work out the next part of my plot. It’s the middle of the middle *blech*

I’ve written about 4k since Wednesday. And my total for Sven so far is 32,932. *grin*

  7. Portia Da Costa Says:

I had a serious bobble this week, due to angsting about some non WIP stuff and not actually writing for four whole days! I feel ashamed of myself for giving in like this, but the good news is that I managed to write a 1K yesterday, and I felt that I’d reconnected with the story and the heroine and I can now start to move forward again.

My total for the challenge is 28537, so despite my fall from grace, I’m still managing to maintain an average of around 1K per day.

  8. Maggie Says:

I spent the week in preparation for a couple of procedures in hospital on Friday so I didn’t get any words done until today…however I did 1037 words today! Yay! I have the rest of the story plotted out, and with only 6 scenes to go to the end, I am feeling a lot better.

That is my largest day total so far, so that is so good. My total since beginning is now 4086, which is small by a lot of people’s counts, but it pretty good for me at the moment. This WIP stands at over 18k words now.

Now the health is getting sorted I can only get better than this! Onwards and upwards!

  9. Jane Says:

Good news: made my target. Bad news: did it in 2 days, not 4. Still not consistently writing every single day.
But i passed the 40k mark with my WIP, so i’m happy with my progress :)

  10. Amanda Freeman Says:

6169 words for the week. I had a cold and have had a few days off. Hoping to get back on track tomorrow.

  11. Mechele Armstrong Says:

3863 words since Wed. I hope to add to that to today. And that was with some edits coming back so I’m pretty happy *G*. That makes for 35985 since the challenge started.

  12. Shiloh Says:

    9k since Wednesday!

  13. Joely Says:

10K since last Sunday’s check in. My Sven total is 40,400 and my NaNo total is 19,247. I’m hoping to get more work done later today and break that 20K mark!

  14. Anna Black Says:

Working on revisions primarily for novella so word count is little lower. Currently, Sven total is 39,797 and averaging 1,474 words a day. Still hoping to get back in stride after a rather rough week.

  15. Michael Woodhead Says:

    12,215

  16. Jaci Says:

13,000 words this week. Not bad since I had to do some revisions to another book also. I’m pleased with the progress. Sven rocks!

  17. Larissa Ione Says:

My goal is 7K per week on one book, plus revisions on another, and this week I got 8,080. So yay! Plus, I revised about 40 pages on the other book. Woot!

  18. Alexa Silver Says:

35,718 words overall, just over 5,000 this week.

  19. Larissa Ione - Blog Says:

[…] forget to check in with your Sven challenge […]

  20. Sandy l Says:

Handwrote about 7 or 8 pagess. It’s going slow, but steady

  21. Stephanie Staton Says:

An unexpected vacation has thrown off my writing this weekend. I don’t know how many words I have written since Wednesday, but I do know it’s not in my goal range. I have plans to catch up on my word count when I get back. I’m using this time to recharge my mind for my writing. The beach is certainly great inspiration for me.

  22. Charlene Teglia Says:

Checking in: spent the last week battling flu, but proofed and returned galley for upcoming book, did various business things, and (ta da) analyzed my core story. So now I have a handle on my problem in the current book! That was time really well spent.

  23. Alice Audrey Says:

I managed 5,734 in my WIP, which is still well under my goal, but better than last week.

  24. Elle Says:

Urgh! I’m so ashamed, but I’m going to check in anyway. Between a marathon visit from the in(out)laws, a nasty cold, and school writing, I’ve only gotten about 1900 words done for my WIP this week. But right now I’m on a roll, so I expect my word count to jump significantly by the end of the day. I can knock out 10K words in a day if I focus, so wish me luck!

    Great job, everyone else!

  25. Karen Erickson Says:

From Wed through last night I wrote a total of 8,534 words which brings my week’s total to 16,143. All on a novella that I’m almost finished with - yay! I didn’t write much last night cos I was tired and I might run into the same thing today (cleaning, family visiting, etc) but I’m pleased.

    And kudos to everyone! :)

  26. Ava Rose Johnson Says:

I’ve done about 6000 words this week. Not as much as I would like but I’m on track

  27. Writer's Block Says:

    70 Days of… GMC

I’m not talking about the General Medical Council. Or General Motors Company.
    No.
I’m talking about Goal, Motivation, Conflict. Things that should be in a novel, or you have a problem.
    Guess what.
    I have a problem.
    My heroine is… g…

  28. HelenKay Dimon » Blog Archive » The Novella Debate Says:

[…] is Sven check in day. Go post those totals and give us a little […]

  29. Mary Says:

Didn’t write yesterday, and today was spent finishing my timeline - much needed for the next few chapters. Total word count is over 11k now. Behind goal, I know, but plan on writing lots tomorrow.

  30. Aden Says:

17k this week… restructuring apparently freed the logjam I didn’t know was up there.

  31. Sierra Dafoe Says:

Whew! Man, it’s nice to be back on the wagon. I don’t know what it was about October — okay, I do — but it’s really nice to be back in the swing of things. One novella done and IN! Yay! And a grand total of a little over 23k since the beginning of the challenge, not including deletes (lots of deletes — I was really off my feed). So that’s, what? 12k since Wednesday. Yup, back up to speed, LOL!

    — Sierra

  32. Jen P Says:

… And then we take a step backward and look at the horrible mess we made!

So my computer crashed and I lost all the edits I’ve done (at least temporarily, maybe permanently). So, it’s back to the ol’ drawing board until my computer is fixed and I find out the extent of the damage…

Yes, back-ups are my friends now.

  33. Macy O'Neal Says:

I waited to start my 70 days until Nano started. As of this moment I have 13,000 words. yeah me.

  34. Linda Lattimer Says:

Sorry, I haven’t posted since the contest began, so much happening, forgot the days to post and had to go out of town, but have written 26, 600 words since it started…
    Linda

  35. Laura Elliott Says:

16,695 words since Sven started. I should be able to get a lot of writing done tomorrow because of the holiday. To all the Veterans out there - thank you and have a great day!

  36. Marissa Says:

I’m up to 12,224 so far and making good headway. I did write 1,024 words of a different book because the beginning just screamed WRITE ME NOW. So I did. :-)

  37. B.L. Foxxe Says:

I’ve had one thing or another coming up. I was fighting with a mild case of writer’s block and had at least finished the ending (sort of) to the rough draft for this Challenge. While I’m nowhere near finished I am figuring out what I needed to rough in so there weren’t any abrupt switches in the timing. *shrug* I’m at 35k and hope to add more before the day ends :).

My NaNo project is also hitting a wall, but I will likely get past that as well. I’m currently at just over 14k which isn’t so great. However I have time yet. :)

  38. Liane Says:

Still sweating here, so much so that I almost forgot to update. Nineteen thousand words since Nov 1, and still chugging. Getting over the sagging middle syndrome, and things are moving along.

  39. Sherry Says:

I’ve been a tremendous slug lately — just way too many things going on at once. I haven’t even checked in the last 2 or 3 times … BUT I’m pleased to report that in the past three days I’ve written 4,192 new words! I’m feeling really good tonight.

  40. Matt S Says:

Better than last week, but still not too good :) I’ve hit kind of a rough spot in the story, and it’s been hard to get more than a couple hundred works at a time.

  41. deniz Says:

ooooh, not so great… the fact that my research is progressing steadily is my only saving grace… I think about the story all the time but I’ve got no words to show for it

  42. Seanachi Says:

I hit 7842 on Thursday, (weekly goal 7500) and thank God because I haven’t had time to write since! Garage sale with my mom out of town Friday and Saturday, get back Saturday to company and a new four legged (temporary) addition to the family. Been dealing with puppy since last night (in laws are going to take him…yippee!). Anyway, should be back to writing tomorrow. With luck Trouble (yeah that’s what we’re calling him) won’t keep us awake.

  43. Sandie Says:

I quite pleased with my progress I’ve done 62,234 words since Sven started and that is 41.5% of my goal. For NaNo going along well 21,326 words so in all I happy with myself.

Hope everyone has a great week.
    Hugs
    Sandie

  44. Michael Woodhead Says:

    14,137

  45. Ella Drake Says:

I missed several days in October, and my muse just hasn’t been there. Still, I’ve managed an overall word count of 11,720 for Sven, and I just started Nanowrimo–late, and after only three days I have 3,629. This isn’t bad considering I only have one or two hours a day to write during the work week.

  46. Nicole Gestalt Says:

I’ve only written 2,500 since last check in and 1,500 of that was on a totally unrelated topic but it’s still words so I’m counting it :)

My total for the 70 Days currently stands at: 25,600

  47. Carrie Lofty Says:

Okey dokey. 4,331 on my novel. 955 on my short. That makes 26,558 on the novel and 1,580 on the short. Average of 1004 per day. Still getting better.

  48. Annie Says:

I have only wrote about 1000 words this week. I think i need to recharge *smile*

  49. Wayne (aka Trybble) Says:

    11 November:
    Magic Touch:
    Total word count = 10,157
    New words written = 0

    Double O Blonde
    Total word count = 15,185
    New words written = 1,647

    Not bad, considering I spend all day yesterday on a day trip with the family and didn’t write a single word. Now if I can just keep putting words down at this rate, I’ll have a complete story in another six months or so {laughs}

    Take care……………Wayne

  50. Emma Petersen Says:

    I HEART SVEN!

Since the 4th of October to today I’ve written a total of 12,508. HOT DAMN! In a fricking week! A week! WOOT! WOOT! A total of 1787 per day. Damn Sven, do you know much I love you!

  51. Lori Says:

Thanks to Larissa’s awesome message yesterday, I took Saturday off and thought my way through some sticky plot points and character goals and motivations stuff. I didn’t write a word, except for some notes. This morning, I had what I call a shower epiphany. I think I get my best ideas in the shower. Anyway, the words came pouring out. That and notes for future plot development. It’s all pretty rough but not wasted and that makes me happy.

    So, since Thursday, 3803 words.

  52. Rebecca Airies Says:

Since Wednesday, I wrote 6281 words. I’m close to the halfway point of my word count goal for the Sweat! I finished Guarded Beginnings and have moved onto another of my goal stories although I haven’t actually written anything on the actual story.

  53. Pamela Bolton-Holifield Says:

Had an abysmal week in which I wrote nothing! Got back in the saddle today and wrote 1869 words. Now if I can just do that every day! Up to 81,910 words on my WIP and heading for the finish line.

  54. Caro Kinkead Says:

10861 words since Wednesday, and a total of 19,457 words for the week. My NaNo total 21704, which means I’m two days ahead of where I should be.

It’s been a good week; I’ve had three days where I wrote 3,000+ words and I know how my suspense is supposed to resolve. i don’t necessarily know how they get there, but I trust the girls in the basement will let me know when it’s time.

Given that I’ve been having exceptional numbers this week, it’s going to be interesting to see how I do next week.

  55. Susan B. Says:

Stopping by a bit late to say that I’ve been taking a few mental health days. Only 2439 since the last check-in, and 12448 total.

  56. Ann Says:

Well I missed Friday and yesterday because of a writer’s conference, but I worked today and brought my total up, I spent the first part of the week cutting 3,921 and added 2,049, bringing my word count for the WIP up to 69,157. My new goal for this is 100,000.

  57. bunnygirl Says:

I had several 500-750 word days as I got acquainted with my story from this new starting point. But I did a smidge over 1,000 words tonight with no trouble at all, so I think I’m back on track with it!

  58. catie Says:

I got too attached to my original idea so I threw it out and started from scratch with a new premise. Since Thursday I’ve written 1,194 words, which isn’t much, but I’m having a lot more fun with this–not taking it, or myself nearly as seriously. The low word count has been due more to family duties and my body crashing thanks to the time change, so I’m working to straighten myself out over the next few days and let the word pour “like liquid from a stream.”

  59. B.L. Foxxe Says:

Well, as of now I just reached over 36k. I’m pleased with my progress because I finished the rough draft and am adding in more with Amity and Marikos’ journeying to their final destination. Still not satisfied with some things within the plotting. However will get to those soon enough. I will be taking off the T’giving holiday.

  60. Joy Renee Says:

after my blazing start last week, i fell like a comet out of orbit. only another 2300 or so more words for a total of 8921. it isn’t that i stopped writing but that most of the words fall into a different category than narrative and dialog. they are more of the nature of writing about the story than telling the story. plus a whole lot of research and plotting that could have been done before Nov 1st if I hadn’t waited until the weekend before 70 Days round two started to settle on my NaNo story.

  61. Merry Says:

    NaNo - 4900

    Sven - 9980

    Getting there, slowly but surely!

  62. Ann K Says:

Plugging along. Once I got into the swing of things, the story has started singing again. It goes loud and it goes quiet, but it goes and that’s what’s important.

Thanks to a re-plot, a day off here and there while I recharge… I doubt I’m keeping up with an average of 750 words a day.

But trying to figure that out is time I could be thinking about the story, so I’m not going to sweat the metric details, and I’m just going to keep writing. As long as I have a finished novel I like (enough to edit!), that’s the only end-goal that matters.

And that, at least, I’m making progress toward.

  63. Annie Oortman Says:

Didn’t make my BIW goal and I’m a little behind on the NANO counts, but not a bad week for Sven… 32,250.

  64. Lauren Dane Says:

I am a happy camper! I’m at 61,655 total since the first day of Sven! I’m nearly finished with my current WIP and then I’ve got to start on my next book.

Once I finish this book I need to approach my next deadline carefully and get back into the swing of it as it’s a partial I’m picking up again after having put it down for months.

  65. shannon kennedy Says:

I’m writing, writing, writing to the tune of “rollin, rollin rollin - keep those dogies rollin’” o.k by now, you know it’s a western romance. I got in almost 10,000 words by Sunday night and the end of the book is in sight! Yippee! I think it will be finished by the end of the week if life doesn’t get in the way. I’m guessing, but I think I’ve done close to 50,000 words since I started “sweating.”
