October 24th - Wednesday Check-in

Another mid-week check in. How goes it?

  1. bunnygirl Says:

Word count on my novel stands at 5,000. I’ve written and posted two new short stories since last check-in, each story in the vicinity of 1,000 words.

  2. Thomma Lyn Says:

On my rough draft, I’ve got four more chapters revised, and I did final polish to a short story and published it on my short story blog.

And in the meantime, I’m continuing the brainstorm my NaNo novel — I’ve got to get more concrete about it, though, so I’ll be ready to kick off on November 1.

  3. Angelle Trieste Says:

Finished 60 pages worth of edit.

    Need to do some more..

  4. Maura Anderson Says:

Finished Gift of the Holly King and sent to my editor. Then wrote my newsletter with the exception of the free read book whose chapter two I’m finishing now.

    Total Words: 9235
    Goal Words: 6750
    Percentage of Goal: 137%

After the newsletter story, I have two stories to plot and the Friday Flash to write for the week.

  5. Portia Da Costa Says:

Well, I’m very pleased with my progress so far!

In the first 9 days of the challenge, I’ve totalled 11477 words, which makes my daily average 1275.

Because I’m consistently hitting 1K per day, I’ve decided to up my daily goal to 1K rather than the 750 I originally planned on. Which means I should theoretically have finished the first draft of a Black Lace by the end of the challenge. :)

Sounds like everybody else so far is doing wonderfully well too!

  6. Kim Knox Says:

I’ve written almost 2k on my No2 wip, which I’m very happy about as I was seriously stuck on it Before Sven.
I’ve been tinkering with No3 and No4 wip too.
And my No1 wip that I finished on Saturday, I accidently edited, wrote a synopsis and blurb for and subbed it *grin*

  7. Dawn Says:

Wow, everyone is doing really well by the looks of it!

I haven’t done any actual writing since the weekend. I was instead making major revisions to the plot as well as doing a whole lot of worldbuilding.

I’m back in the game today. I’m currently about 3000 words behind target, but I’ll try to make up for it today. I hope things will go easier now that I’ve got a clearer picture of where the story is headed.

  8. Amanda Freeman Says:

Plotting, plotting, plotting. Research, character development and other fun stuff to fill the day. Should be ready for NaNo to start with time to start revising other story before.

  9. Vernieda Says:

I’ve continued to brainstorm, plot & worldbuild my novel. Things are finally coming together. Just when I thought it wasn’t going to happen, it did!

  10. Marianne Says:

I’ve got a total of nearly 6,000 words but got a bit derailed the last two days. I got edits on a novel that needed to be reviewed and finished, for one. And, I worked through cleaning up the short story that was finished by those initial 6,000 words and submitted it to my publisher.

Today, it’s back to the grindstone!

  11. Anna Adams Says:

On the verge of finishing this revision, but I’ve added 15 pages since Sunday. I’m hoping to put this to bed at last so I can start something new. Gotta keep going.

  12. Anna Black Says:

Since the sweating started I’ve gotten in 16,892 words, averaging 1,809 words a day.

I’m moving apace on my prepping for my NaNo novel, and with some hard work this weekend, should be ready for November 1st. I’ve finished the draft of my 30,000 word novella and will start revising that ASAP. Normally I would let it cool for a bit but the deadline is November 15th and I want to get as much revsion done before NaNo starts as I can.

  13. Sandie Hudson Says:

Going well with the writing I’m over the 20,000 mark for ‘Back to You’ almost hit the 12,000 mark for ‘A Young Girl’s Dream’ and I have now decided to turn a Short Story I wrote for a competition into a novel because I love the characters. I’m going to change the title to ‘Come To Me’. So on top of the writing I’m doing more research for my new novel. Loving this challenge. Good luck everyone for the rest of the week.

  14. Judy Says:

I’ve more than met my 750 word goal, but had started on one story, revamped it and wrote another :-) I should be able to use some of the scenes from the original in the “new and improved.” So far my combined word count is 7719 words, but I overslept this morning. Fortunately, I should be able to be home to write.

  15. Joely Says:

I’m writing new words early in the morning for Sven and worldbuilding/plotting at night for my NaNo project. So far, 13,617 new words for Sven and I’ve got my characters fairly well outlined with complete backstories. Still searching out my plot with the help of the Emotional Toolbox and Holly Lisle’s Create a Plot Clinic! Hope to be ready to create a plotboard this weekend.

  16. Jane Says:

I’m at about 1800 for the last three days. It’s research and notes though. i’m at the plotting stage for this story, i can pants to a point, but then i need to know what’s going on. I think i’m getting a handle on these characters though. Yay!

  17. Laura Elliott Says:

I’m ranging anywhere from 200 to 2000 words a day, depending on what kind of day I’m having. My goal was 750 words a day, but I’m averaging more like 800.

    Total so far (drumroll)…5600 words!

  18. Valerie Everhart Says:

So far, so good. I’ve written at least 3 pages everyday. I’m short of my first projected goal, but at least I’m writing everyday. I need to spend sometime and update my blog..I’ve slacked with doing that since, my main focus is to get new pages! So far my story doesn’t have much romantic suspense, but dialogue and description, I’m heavy on.

I’m shooting for 7 pages today. Way to go everyone with your new words for the week..keep it up!

  19. lainey bancroft Says:

Wow! Fingers have been flying. :)

Hmm, I put 3K into finishing a requested short story, 4K into my ’shiny new idea’…but I had to axe nearly 7K for revisions on a requested full.

So, depending on how you look at it, I’m either at 14K, or….ZERO :(

  20. Jaci Burton Says:

Revisions finished and shipped off to editor on Monday! Yayyy!

All set to dig into writing new book.

5 minutes later Fedex arrived with galleys on another book, so I’ve been knee deep in galley review for the past two days, but I’m determined to finish those up today and THEN I’m going to dive into writing. Just a minor setback, but I’m confident I’ll make up all the writing I’m missing asap! :-)

  21. Kris Yankee Says:

I continue to make strides in getting my first draft down of the current wip. Have a book that I have to edit (not my own) so that is weighing on my brain. Off to write this morning, and then edit this afternoon.

  22. Melanie Anderson Says:

Monday I got some words written, but last night I didn’t do anything. I’ve been struggling with a class I need to teach for work. Why did I volunteer to teach again?!? The class is tomorrow and I’m not ready at all. My stomach has been bothering me as well, which I’m not sure if because of nerves or something else. After tomorrow, I know I’ll get on track again.

  23. deniz Says:

    still going steady! c. 500 words per day… :-)

  24. Kimberly Claire Says:

Life has got in the way this week. I was trucking along until Sunday, and since then I’ve only been able to snatch writing time here and there. I’m trying to at least get in an hour a day, and so far so good with that. I’ve run into a bit of a snag with my characters too. I have to other outlines for projects, so I’m just now considering moving on to one of them I’ll probably give this WIP another day or two to come alive for me. Congrats to everyone on your progress.

  25. Liane Says:

9851 words. Should pass 10,000 today.

Rough Draft of Kiss of the Cerberus is 80% done. I’m planning on putting it to sleep during November, and editing through December for January submissions.

Allowed myself to write one page of my Nanowrimo/Medusa story last night…couldn’t help myself. :D

  26. P.S. Says:

    How goes it? It sucks. I suck. And I’m furious with myself for even signing up. { breathe breathe }

The past few days haven’t been conducive to writing.

But I’ll pick myself up and dust myself off any minute now. And I did have a couple of new insights into my MC…just little things like his favorite book and favorite CD. I haven’t decided whether I’ll actually incorporate those details into the wip, though.

  27. Amy Ruttan Says:

Ugh, I know I know I missed the first took check ins but I had a request for a full and have spent the first week editing my brains out. I’ve written about 750 new words since the start. I will be back at it again tonight. I will make up for time lost during the editing process. :)

  28. Shiloh Says:

46K. I’ve written about 4K since Sunday, but nothing today. Plan on getting that up over 48 or 50K today.

    ;)

  29. Ann K Says:

As per my last check-in, I’m still brainstorming the new outline for my novel. The brainstorming is going well, though, and I’ve netted some 5000 words in the past few days in that alone.

I hope to be ready to start writing again by the weekend. We’ll see. But daily progress still continues.

  30. Annie Oortman Says:

13,750 words so far… haven’t seen my inner critic since we started this challenge… yeah!

  31. Cynthia Says:

My manuscript is at 6,241 words presently. Not putting in the words I’d hoped, but I am writing every day so I can’t complain - well not too much anyway. I’m still working without an outline but it’s not bothering me too much this time around. I’m letting my characters talk and show me where they want to go so it’s all good.

  32. Keziah Fenton Says:

Yesterday was a complete wash. I did some research on wip2 as the h/h conflict isn’t strong enough. Worked 12 hours out of the house and couldn’t even think when I got home. I opened my document on wip1 and stared at it until bedtime. Plan to make up for it today. Overall I’m pleased with my progress as my work schedule has been far busier than I’d anticipated when I signed up. I’m happy to keep my characters in the forefront of my mind.

  33. Mechele Armstrong Says:

I wrote 2K on Monday, 1500 K yesterday and 2 K today. I think that’s a total of 10 K combined with last week. So far so good. I’m hoping to up my totals each week.

  34. Heather Harper Says:

I won’t begin actual word count until Nov 1. Here’s to hoping the World Series is wrapped up before then. ;)

  35. Jane (Maude Clare) Says:

I’ve done at least 25 pages since Sunday, working hard to make up for the disaster I had last week. Going good. Back in the flow. Thanks. You grrls are pushing me.

  36. Elle Murphy Says:

Well I checked in late for the weekend post, but I did write over 1000 words yesterday. I’m not going to be much more done this week because I have the Inlaws coming for the next 2 weeks and won’t be able to sit down and get this done. I need solitude! :(

  37. Matt S Says:

Not good! I think I only wrote 500 words Monday and Tuesday (combined, not individually). Things have been kind of busy, and I’ve been exhausted, so it’s difficult to focus. I got a lot of sleep last night, and even though I still feel really tired, I’m hoping I’ll be able to blast 500 words out at lunch and somehow find time to get more in tonight.

  38. Karen Erickson Says:

Way better this week than last. A little over 4k in three days. Was slower last night but still got 1k in so I was happy.

Boy so many people are doing so great! Congrats everyone, keep going! And for those having a hard time, just keep chugging along! It’ll happen. :)

  39. Emily Ryan-Davis Says:

Wrote 750 Sun and Mon, did nothing at all yesterday. Must get on the ball and get today’s words instead of blog-hopping and forum-browsing.

  40. Shiloh Says:

heh! I just finished the current book. It was at like mid or low 30s when we started and now it’s sitting at 39K and DONE. :-) Man, I do love getting those last few lines out.

  41. Krista Says:

Total words gained since starting: 5,695
I’m right in the middle of the book at 69,152 words. Although, this could potentially end closer to 100K rather than the projected 125K, which would be fine by me. I’m really anxious to finish the first draft!

  42. Aden Says:

On target, and I’ve found my rhythm now. Took a few of the 23 holidays to get some personal work done on redesigning my site… drawing and graphic design sap the same creative juice from different parts of my brain so the writing didn’t come well at all those days. Things are looking up, and I’m eager to move ahead!

  43. Lauren Dane Says:

Finished first and second round edits for a December release and finished a partial and revision for a pitch. Then I started a book that was moved up a month so I’m pushing hard on it, LOL. I got 2400 written on it last night, which was nice since I removed a scene too. Plotting gave me low word counts for a few days but now H/H have met and things are moving forward nicely.

I’m going to my local chapter’s Con this weekend so I think my wordcount will be small, so I’m hoping to get a bit ahead if I can before then.

  44. Eva Gale Says:

I can’t believe what I’ve gotten done. I started with somehting already going, but am now over the 200 page mark and in the home stretch and AND I wrote a 3.5k word synop to send off for an agent request *bounce*.

  45. Conda V. Douglas Says:

Since I’m a plotter and not a pantser, I’m still working on my plot. I’ve tried being a pantser, it never worked. I’m envious of those who can sit down and write from an idea and end up with a novel that possesses all the elements of one!

  46. Shawn Hansen Says:

I still have the most of my writing time for the day upcoming, but I’m sitting on a total of nearly 5k of the 8k I ought to have.

I’m still on track with the submissions I’ve outline–another contest entry just went out–so I am good with where I am.

    Weeeeeeeee

  47. "auntie" bettie Says:

Nothing, and that’s ok. We’re hosting relatives displaced by the San Diego fires, and we’re thankful they’re safe and sound here with us in smoky, smoggy LA.

I have renewed respect and awe for everyone who writes with kids in the house. Ours is full, and I can’t put two words together, even when I do get some quiet time. Admittedly, part of the distraction is due to the incredible cuteness of my my nieces & nephews, who are a ton of fun to spoil.

  48. Jen P Says:

Uh… It’s Wednesday already…? I’m very ashamed to announce that I’ve written no new words since Sunday in a whirlwind of mid-term prep and lots of school projects. I did do a little bit of revisions to give myself a break from German grammar yesterday. I’m doing about all that I’m able to do right now, so I guess I can’t really get upset over how lousy it is. :-/

  49. Lynn Raye Harris Says:

10K words since this challenge began, and I’m not finished for the day yet. And I entered a contest. :)

  50. Nicole Reising Says:

sigh… I’m not keeping up these past few days. Mainly because I wrote, then my characters decided things were NOT supposed to go that way… meant rewriting! Which is all fine and dandy, makes the story better, and I look back now and am truly grateful they didn’t let me get away with keeping things the way they were. But… now I’m way behind and despite trying everyday to catch back up… I stay about 6 pages behind where I should be according to my goal per day.

*sigh* I think I might just eat it… start over so to speak as far as keeping track of what I’m getting done a day. I mean, 6 pages, news time roman, double spaced and all, a day is going to easily place me past my word count goal by the end… so I have no worries there. The 6 page a day goal was mostly set because I needed this ms done by the end of this month so that I would be free for NaNo. Might not work out quite that way. I’m NOT giving up on that goal either way but I just might call whatever page I’m at come midnight tonight even… and go for a fresh 6 pages tomorrow so that I’m not constantly looking at getting about 8 -9 pages done each day, opening the next day still behind and always feeling pressured. Kind of takes the joy out of it.

So anyhow, I’m counting my words to this point being I usually don’t get a chance to get on in the evenings… I’ve done 50 pages since we started. Averages to about 1200 words per page I’m guessing…

    Cole

  51. Susan B. Says:

Still a big goose egg for me on the manuscript. Last night my crit partner helped me brainstorm part of the backstory of my world, and it was good to get some clearer ideas on that. And today I posted a little clip of me trying to get into my new heroine’s head. A week until Nano!

  52. Jess Says:

Oh wow, it IS Wednesday, isn’t it? Here I came looking for a quote or something. I’m at 17400. I’ve been really busy at work lately and managing to type about 650 words during my lunch break around, you know, actually eating lunch. Hence the lower count, but I’m okay with that because I’m still writing consistently, and every day the meter creeps forward. :)

  53. Brooke Taylor Says:

I’ve doing O.K.– I’ve got approx 5000 words so far. And the Galley’s for my other book just came in… but hanging in there.

  54. Sandy l Says:

I’m not doing as well as I hoped, but neither am I ready to give up.

  55. Nicole Reising Says:

YIKes! miss wrote that! that’s 1200 words per DAY! Eeegaddds! I believe I’ve been sitting at this computer too long. :-)

    Nicole

  56. Catherine Avril Morris Says:

Well, I have seriously fallen off the wagon this week, but it really couldn’t be helped. I’m working on two other projects besides my writing, both of which have deadlines, plus, of course, the day job. I’ll get back on it by Friday though. I’m glad to see so many other people still rocking.

  57. Seanachi Says:

Okay word count for the week is at 3191, so right on schedule. Word count for the WIP is 11,686. I was really pleased to break the 10k mark. It seems like a pretty substantial chunk in not a whole lot of time, and that’s gratifying. The writing and plotting this week is going rather slower and rougher than I’d hoped, but it’s going, and that’s what matters! AND I finished my words for the day in time to go home and deal with OTHER stuff I’ve been putting off for a WHILE.

  58. Jayne Rylon Says:

For the last three days I’ve done a little over 6,000 words and a total of 16K since Sven entered my writing life :) I started writing during lunch in addition to when I get home from work and that seems to be going well. I hope to wrap up this WIP this week.

  59. Patty L. Says:

I didn’t check in last week, because there was nothing to report. Sigh.

However, things have changed and I have been writing daily again. I have only added about 2000 words since Sunday, but it’s a lot better that last week. LOL

  60. Evanne Says:

Still not a single word on the yet unplotted new story. Four thousand new, and many more improved, words have been added to the nearly complete WIP. Good enough for me.

  61. Lynn Matherly Says:

Ok, my progress in 3 days sucks - 230 words, but I’m at 5818 and 19 pages, so it’s better than the ZERO I started with.

  62. SandieH Says:

Slow going but getting there, I’m putting more time in on my other projects then this childrens book. This is good to use as a break from the romance.

Now I’ve decided to write my children’s books under Sandie Roberts, just to separate the two genre.

  63. Melissa Blue Says:

Yesterday I fell short, but I’m still over the total weekly word count I need to be at, 2,720 is written so far. Making my WIP total 15,641. I’m a sweating.

  64. Shannon Stacey Says:

I’m only at 38% instead of 50%, but I’ve written every day this week, which—for me—is good progress. I’m hoping to catch up on what I fell short on before Sunday.

Now I’m off to watch my Sox in Game 1. :)

  65. Melissa Schroeder Says:

Finished up my short story yesterday so I spent today working on promotional things, designed an excerpt brochure, and right now I am working on edits. Tomorrow morning I get right back on it for the novella, and plan doing edits at night until I can turn those in.
Can’t wait to get back into writing tomorrow:)

  66. Peggy Dallmann Says:

I have not had a whole lot of time to devote to my novel with too many real life appintments, etc. My novel is still in the early planning/outlining stage. I continue to work on the opening of the first chapter to get a feel for where I want to go with this novel, though the word count remains low and I am not counting these as actual writing days. I also think I might convert my original idea from a paranormal romance into a futuristic romance. Anyway, plans are to continue developing the plot and to do some heavy work on developing the characters. I am seriously thinking about signing up for NaNoWriMo. Plus, I am going to Indiana RWA’s retreat the weekend of Nov. 2-4, and I want to be in a position by November 1 to focus on writing on the 1st, but especially during retreat, and through the month of November.

  67. Silke Says:

    I got distracted!

I’m still at Zero, but…. I’m streamlining one and editing and… well ok. I’m stuck. I admit it.
But I’m going to get over it!

  68. Jaye Wells Says:

I totally suck. Last week my kiddo was sick and only managed to get 2000 words written. Then, of course I got the flu on Sunday, which totally ruined my resolution to bump up my output for today’s check in. The good news is I am coming out of my fever-induced haze and can get some work done.

  69. Renee Lynn Scott Says:

I’ve barely gotten 100 words a day for the last several days. Been preparing for a huge birthday celebration over at Fanlit Forever. Still revising Hellion’s Haven, but at least I finally got past chapter 4, thank goodness. :)

Hope everyone is having a great week.

  70. Jodie Wilkerson Says:

5241 words so far this week. More writing tomorrow and then revision pages on Friday. Keeping fingers crossed all goes as planned.

Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

  71. Autumn Says:

I’ve got an additional 1400 words or so since sunday. Still a little on the low side, but my story seems to finally be coming together this week. I am very excited about it. We will see what the next week brings :)

  72. Marissa Says:

    Going well, still pressing forward….

  73. Nicole Gestalt Says:

It was my birthday yesterday so I took a ‘holiday’ day and we went to Whitby, however on the way back I had a great idea of the YA book so I’ll be adding that to my list of projects. Since I knew I was going to have a free day I did some extra writing the day before which meant that I wasn’t too far from hitting the minimum word count for it anyway.

Since Sunday I’ve written 2000 words and begun typing up my main WIP. That brings my total for the challenge so far to: 9943 words.

  74. Lil Says:

Anyone who’s feeling discouraged, here’s a big (((hug))) for ya across the web!

I haven’t done much writing since Saturday when my computer crashed and I lost most of my wip. *sigh*
I was feeling glum about that, but I’m hoping to get back on track with my writing this week. Yesterday I wrote about 600 words. It was tough, but I’ll keep plugging away, one chapter at a time.

  75. Jambrea Says:

I met my goal this week with 1,000 words a day! :)

  76. Lori Says:

My word count between Sunday and today is 5267. Not quite to goal, but not too shabby! I’ve got some momentum going and there are times when it feels like the story is writing itself. Awesome!

  77. Wayne (aka Trybble) Says:

    Magic Touch:
    Total word count = 10,157
    New words written = 0

    Double O Blonde
    Total word count = 8,898
    New words written = 2,464

I’m very pleased. I managed to write over twice my goal for this half week period. I think I’m really starting to get into the story. I just hope the momentum lasts though the rest of the book.

    Take care………………Wayne

  78. Jenifer Says:

Well, I’m up to 6238 words total for this round of the challenge. Behind my overall goal, but just slighly ahead since Sunday. And I feel good about it, so I guess that’s what counts the most. Onward and upward!

  79. Ella Drake Says:

I’m barely making goals, but I’m starting to get the hang of it. Except I don’t have it together tonight. Kind of hard to write with my eyes closed.

  80. Susanna Carr Says:

The revisions put me back a little. So far I’ve added 5,000 to my full length manuscript and 2,000 to a short story.

  81. Carol Ward Says:

Well, despite my goal being 750 words per day, I think I’ve managed about that in the last 3 days. I got stuck on one scene and kept writing and re-writing it. So if you added up all the words I wrote and rewrote for that one scene, I more that met my goal. :-) Hopefully now that I have that troublesome scene behind me I’ll make better progress. (knock wood)

  82. Pamela Bolton-Holifield Says:

A very sad 1086 words since the last check in. SIGH!! Down 3000 words already! SHEEESH!! Word count on the entire novel - 76,837. Onward and upward!

  83. Marilyn Brant Says:

I’ve got a total of 8,250 words since we started (2,500 since the last check in). I’m averaging more like 3pg./day than the 4-5 I’d hoped to write, but it’s good to be making progress at all. Glad to hear others are doing well on their projects!

  84. Annie Says:

2640 so far in the challange!
25,684 so far on my novel!

  85. Rebecca Airies Says:

I wrote 5822 words this week. I didn’t realize how much I’d gotten doneMost on Primal Encounter but a little on all three of the WIP I’m working on. I’ve started on the last scene in Primal Encounter and should be finishing it in the next few days.

  86. Michelle (MG) Says:

I’ve only written 1110 so far this week, but that’s ok, because I’m this close to being finished with this story. I’m already excited to move on to the next one, but I’m away at conference this weekend so I’m not sure that will happen beforehand. I like these extra days of freedom you gave this time to take a day off if needed, as long as we still do 70 days. Thank you for this challenge. I really appreciate it!

  87. Caro Kinkead Says:

It’s still Wednesday where I am. :) Despite another chunk of overtime this week, I’ve managed to do much better this week, with 5,412 words so far this week. I was actually ready to quite some forty-five minutes ago, but I kept pushing through and got more words written.

Since I can barely keep my eyes open or type at this moment, I think it’s time to hit the sack. But I got stuff done and that’s what good.

  88. catie Says:

Did much better yesterday than I have since I started (863 words, while my goal was 750). Total word count overall: 2,294

Took a break today because it was my grandmother’s 75th birthday, but it’s back to work tomorrow. =)

  89. JP Shaw Says:

I am doing great!!! :) I have to say and really proud of myself. I got through my character not speaking to me, she went silent after Chapter One and Two. Silly girl just needed some down time, but I kept poking her. And I managed to do 5, 914 combined Mon, Tue and today.

I got Chapter Two completely finished, and Chapter Three started on my WIP. Total words for this WIP since starting it 9, 580. Total words written, after scrapping three chapters and going with what I’m doing now= 20,941.

I’m writing everyday, moving forward. I’m so glad Sven asked me to sweat!

    Thanks Sven. :)

  90. Gina Marina Says:

    It’s still Wednesday here….

Wrote some on my shifter book but as all of it is still longhand, I have no idea how much.

Got an A on my Psych test from last week and have another math test tomorrow.

  91. Victoria Blisse Says:

I know I’m a bit late, but I want to report in. My weekend was a wash out, a trip to Blackpool to see the lights and then a Sunday filled with family visiting. I took Monday to recover from the hectic weekend and faced the gruelling truth on Tuesday that I’d not written a word since Friday. So I gritted my teeth and got down to business and I am pleased to say I have written 4,613 words this week, bringing my overall total to 10613 words :)

  92. Merry Says:

Bit late checking in - didn’t do a lot, but have got up to the middle of chapter 10 in outline and will be going back to do some tweaking (possibly before finishing ch.10). I’m aiming for 12 chapters, but it may not be enough (unless they’re big chapters) My world-building’s still a bit spotty, so I will have to tighten that up, probably over the weekend.

  93. Saskia Walker Says:

I got sidetracked with edits and proofs, but I’m back in Sven project one (a novella I had to complete,) and winding up the last chapter of that one today. Yay! Project number two is revisions, I’m hoping to get stuck in on those tomorrow.

  94. Carrie Lofty Says:

1700 words. Me = not on track. 7470 for the challenge.

  95. Michelle Says:

I’m doing better this week. I think I’m at about 5,000 so far for this week not counting today, which is Thursday because I’m late as usual checking in. But this week is much better writing wise. I feel more into the story and the further along I get into it the better I always feel.

  96. Emma Petersen Says:

Didnt write 22nd. Wrote 154 words on the 23rd. Wrote 2151 words on the 24th. So to date I’ve written an average of 768 words per day. It meets my goal of 750 but it’s still kinda sucky. I know I can do better!

  97. Michael Woodhead Says:

    2775

  98. Margaret A. Golla Says:

I’m currently sucking at this challenge. The big part of the problem was I had no idea of the plot, but instead knew my characters/conflicts. I finally got an idea of where I want this story to go…so, I get to rewrite the first 3000 words–again.

  99. Elizabeth Says:

Okay, So I currently suck at this writing challenge. I started great, got a whole chapter written on a new book, a book that was not part of the challenge I set for myself. I am SUPPOSED to be doing rewrites on a finished book and finishing an already started book, but no. I go and start a whole new project and then just stop writing entirely. Okay, so I have been busy with family stuff and got sick, but that is NO excuse. I should have made the time to write sometime…. probably when I was playing Zelda… dang addictive video games! So now here I am swearing that I will get some stuff accomplished ASAP… okay even sooner than that! I will accomplish some stuff as soon as I finish this comment. There. I have a goal!
Now if one of you will just beat me if I leave my computer without finishing a few chapter rewrites….

  100. Mary Says:

Late checking in. Didn’t get as much as I wanted written since last check-in. Missed a couple days writing, and total word count stands at 3751.

  101. Lynn Says:

About 200 new words on the short story I started with. Another 100 on a romantic suspense. Not a lot, but at least I’m finally focusing where I need to. Haven’t been writing every day, but I plan to change that. Now!

  102. TFW Says:

I still managed to write while on business travel so that is definitely a victory for me.

Ok, 1,385 is a small victory but I’ll take it!

  103. Lauren Hawkeye Says:

I’m a tad late checking in this weekend, because my MIL was visiting this weekend and I didn’t write a single word. I’ve put in some loong hours this week though and I’m caught up, so I’m safe from Sven… for now! ;)

  104. Taylor Says:

I forgot to check in yesterday.

I’ve not acheived much writing wise so far this week. I did something like 25 words before I moved wrong and hurt my back. I haven’t been able to sit at the computer for extended periods but I have done some plotting.

I’m feeling a bit better so I’m going to try and write a couple of hours tonight.

  105. Maggie Says:

I am late too. Probably because I am so behind…*sigh*…

Anyway, another 200 words since Sunday, but I am primed to do some serious writing this weekend, starting now…so hopefully the word count will rise considerably.

  106. D M Evans Says:

i’m stalled where i was. This week and next I’m in a haunted theatre tour leavng me going to work at 8 and getting home after 11 pm, no time to even do work i have to do. I’ll have to make it up in Nov.

  107. Jordanne Says:

I feel like I need to start this post with ‘forgive me Father for I have sinned, it’s been four days since my last check in’

Work, bah. Too bad one couldn’t just collect the paychq without actually having to do the job.

I wrote 1236 words Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I took as free days, and I wrote 860 words Thursday. My daily min goal is 750, preferred goal is 1000 wpd.

    Jordanne

  108. Andrea Snider Says:

Sorry that I missed the first few check ins… I’ve been doing farely well, my total word count as of today is 11, 019- I had been meeting my 750 a day count and when I didnt I was able to make it up- UNTIL this week- Everything just seemed to go downhill. My baby is sick, my husband is going away on business which leaves me with all 3 kids- my oldest son was sick at the beginning of the week and now I don’t feel too great! Ugh! Murphy’s law- but the actual process is going smoother and I can definitely see an improvement in my writing- that’s always good! right?? so hopefully this week will be better. Send positive vibes my way, please!
