September 20th - FINAL check-in
The Seventy Days of Sweat Writing Challenge was issued on July 6th, 2007. Approximately 275 writers signed up. Since then, Wednesday and Sunday check-ins have given participants a chance to shine and to whine. Challengers have met their goals, come close to their goals, surpassed their goals, lost sight of their goals. Challengers have finished projects, ditched projects, revised projects, started brand new from scratch. Challengers have edited, deleted, written scenes out of order, rewritten others that made no sense. We’ve had so much fun and accomplished so much work, that we’re going to do it all again! Be sure and check back on October 1st for information on round two, including a few changes and a few surprises, and a lot of fun. For now, here are a few final words from your round one sponsors.
* * * * * * * * * *
From Larissa Ione . . .
Wow–I can’t believe I did it! I’ve never been one to schedule myself so strictly, and I have to say…I got so much done and learned so much! I always harbored this secret fear that I couldn’t maintain a deadline pace, but I’ve shattered that fear. I confronted it and beat it. And I’m so happy to have had so many people doing the same thing, so many people who made a push to complete a project or just a push to do better than they ever have. You all should be so proud of yourselves, even if all you did is write one more page during this period that you ever have before. Celebrate! You definitely have reason to!
From Stephanie Tyler . . .
Stephanie can’t be here for the final check-in because she’s in Pittsburgh for her daughter’s surgery…but we know she’s still writing. We know she kept up with Sven’s challenges, and every single week, she beat her goals. She enjoyed the challenge, and she talked about how amazing it was that so many people did so well. She wishes you all luck and congratulates everyone who met their goals!
From Jo Leigh . . .
First, a big congratulations to everyone who participated! I think, from the wonderful responses, that everyone learned something, achieved something, even if it was that the challenge thing isn’t what revs the engine. For me, the challenge has been brilliant. I accomplished a lot - words on paper, yes, but more than that, I learned some things about moderation and pacing my writing. Life changing! And I adored reading everyone’s progress. It helped me stay on the ball, showed me how creative, funny, poignant and brave you people are. It’s been a privilege. I hope to see a whole lot of you during the next challenge. I know I’ll be there.
From HelenKay Dimon . . .
We set out to inspire you and, frankly, you inspired us. You worked hard. You checked in. Some of you got discouraged, stopped, and then got started again. Others followed along just to see your progress. In the end, you wrote and wrote…and wrote. There is something special about a positive group dynamic. When I fell behind on my number count - and I did - I looked at your numbers and got moving again. Because of all of you, my single title is done and went off to Kensington on time. Thank you. I look forward to taking the journey together again. See you in a few weeks when we get started with Round 2.
From Alison Kent . . .
I have been verily put to shame because I gave in to distractions and am six days behind you all in my goal of finishing. Seeing the outstanding progress all of you have made . . . do you realize there have been hundreds of thousands of words written here? Books and novellas and proposals and even comic book scripts? Kudos and bravo!
* * * * * * * * * *
Now, 70 days later, how many of you met your goals? How many set new ones? How many learned new ways to handle the challenges of writing? How many learned new ways to write? How many conquered hurdles that had always seemed insurmountable?
Let’s celebrate every single word you have written because every single word counts! And be sure to take both of our polls on the sidebar!

During the challenge I accomplished the following:
Started agent-hunting (not done yet).
Started a new ST and just finished the second draft.
Got a request for full from HP. I read the ms over one more time and made some changes on hard copy. Need to make changes to the soft copy and mail it.
Thanks for the challenge, ladies. It was fun!
September 20th, 2007 at 12:14 am
I didn’t meet my goal, but I learned a lot about what I still need to do. I also confirmed something I already knew - I need an outline before I write.
I loved this challenge and look forward to doing it again, next time I will meet my goals.
Thank you every one who put this together and made this possible.

WOOT! Wow, the final check-in — *sniff*! And *smile*, because I’m very proud of myself!
When the Challenge began, I started a new WIP off with a bang, only to get fed up with it and ditch it 12,000 words in. Then, the very next day, I was off and running with a new-new WIP ;), and that’s the one I stuck with. My total word count for the Challenge is 132,908 words, which is 2,908 words over my challenge goal of 130,000 words. Yay, me!
Because I’ve been flying by the seat of my pants on the plot of my novel, I’ve been discovering the story as I’ve been writing, and though I met my word count goal, my rough draft lacks two more chapters. But that’s okay — I’ll get that done in no time flat. And then I’ll tackle revisions, which will be quite extensive because I’ve discovered so much more about the story in hindsight. I think I’ve got a good story here, maybe a story I can do something with, and I’m thrilled with what I’ve accomplished.
Before the Challenge started, I was in a terrible slump, and I was starting to wonder if I’d ever come out of it. But my friend Amy Ruttan (who is also participating and is kicking major butt!) told me about the Challenge, and I decided then and there… I’m going to do this thing, and I’m going to get over the damned slump — and I did. Did I ever.
In the last seventy days, I’ve had lots of ups and downs, some tough challenges. But with the exception of a couple of goose-egg days (0 words written), I wrote EVERY SINGLE DAY. I’ve learned not only that I can blast myself out of a writing slump through accountability and discipline but that I can write every day, pretty much no matter freakin’ WHAT.
Thank you so much to the sponsors of this Challenge. It’s been one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself as a writer.
Congratulations to everybody — you all ROCK! See y’all for Round Two of Sven! I’m looking forward to it.
September 20th, 2007 at 2:29 am
I met my goal for the challenge, which was to finish and edit my book GOTHIC HEAT. And the proof of it is that I’m currently printing it off in order to send it to my agent!
When the challenge started, I was finding it very tough to motivate myself and to write this book, but the challenge got me through the first draft and the subsequent editing and for that I’m incredibly grateful.
I’m definitely in for the next round! First up is a novella… then maybe a serial… then my next full length book. So lots to sweat over!
Many, many thanks to Sven and the team for setting this up, and mega congratulations to all the other participants!
love

*sniff* I feel proud that i have managed to do just over half of my total for the challenge, because as i got told by (damn my memory i cant remember who) an author lol, having done half is amazing because most people give up on the first page.
With eveyrthing else thats been going on i still have somehow managed to write loads. I’ve had bad A level results, the stress of trying to get into my uni on the bad results, the stress of then planning and sorting and everything for uni. Watching my fiance go to his uni before me. Packing. Oh and a really bad chest infection for a month which i still have now. and some how through all this i wrote. so yeah, thank you all for helping me push forward despite what life threw at me.
If (when) this manuscript becomes a book, you other challengers are going to be int he ackowledgements =)
Til the next challenge! hope fully my total will be better than the 36,589 i got this time
September 20th, 2007 at 6:33 am
My original goal was 70K and a finished novella, plus whatever else I chose. I finished two projects for the challenge, the 37.5K novella (my #1 goal) and a 14K short story by a tight deadline. Then I started a new project targeted for the Brava contest. Altogether, 80,600 words since we started this challenge. Thanks so much for organizing it!
September 20th, 2007 at 7:02 am
I was going strong for the first, oh, 50 days or so. There were some hard spots, but I worked through them. Then I just got swamped by other things. So one of the things I learned was that this time in my life, while my daughter is small and home with me, might not be the right time. And that’s ok. Another important thing I learned is that I can do this. I can come up with stories out of nothing and I can work through times when I’m less than inspired and have to really think. And I can do good work. I learned that I can probably be doing that right now, but I’m not sure I need the kind of stress in my life that commitment would involve.
I don’t know what kind of commitment I’ll make, but I do intend to be around for the next challenge. Thanks so much for this one!
September 20th, 2007 at 7:04 am
I did not meet my goal; however, it definitely jump-started my writing. I probably won’t stop the writing and will make some new goals.
September 20th, 2007 at 7:24 am
I didn’t meet the greater goal of the challenge, but I did finish the things I set out to do - One shorter story finally finished, polished and subbed, and turning a short story in to a novella, polishing and subbing it. I’m happy to say I did both of those things - so cross fingers for me the editors like them
I really struggled with this challenge as a good chunk of it was over the school holidays. I found it very difficult to concentrate, as my total word count of approx 40k can attest to :), but I have learned that sitting my ass in a chair and knocking out 1000 words a day is totally feasible, and now that kiddo is back in school, I am doing it.
September 20th, 2007 at 7:37 am
Thanks so much for the challenge, ladies! And also thanks to all the other participants, you were encouraging, too.
My original goal was an 80k first draft of a new novel.
While that didn’t happen, I did this instead:
-10k short story written, edited, and submitted
- 63k first draft of a new novel
For a total of 73k words. That averages to about 1k daily, which was true for most days except the second half of August when I had a lot of 0s but *made them up*. I am almost more proud of what I have turned out than if if I’d just blasted through an 80k draft without the other trials or successes.
I can’t wait for the next challenge - I’ll be adding to and editing this challenge’s novel, and I’ll be taking eleven days off to work at an orphanage in Kenya. I’ll see what I’m *really* made of during Round Two, I think.
September 20th, 2007 at 7:42 am
[…] do the Dorothyesque what-I-learned bit, but I just did it at the Sweat website and it feels to redundant right […]
September 20th, 2007 at 8:01 am
I typed the words “The End” last night on my 2nd Challenge WIP and it felt great. During the challenge I accomplished the following.
I began and completed a near 28K word novella and submitted it for the Brava Novella Contest. And I completed a 13K short which I will submit later today after one more proof read to EC for their next Caveman anthology. So although I would have liked to say I totalled more than just over 40K during the challenge, I am still more than happy that 2 works are complete and on their way to hopefully finding good homes. Thank you to the organizers for this challenge.
September 20th, 2007 at 8:12 am
Wee! I made it! With much struggling and wriggling, I pulled through with 48,000 words - only 12,000 shy of my goal, and that’s mainly due to this past week, where a burnout of sorts resulted in my getting nothing written. But if it hadn’t been for Sven and his 70 Days, I doubt I would be this far at all - probably still floundering at Chapter 1! Thank you thank you!
September 20th, 2007 at 8:19 am
I don’t know how many words I did, in the end, but I finished my MS. Happy dancing! I’ll be under contract for the second challenge, so the encouragement will be much appreciated!
September 20th, 2007 at 8:32 am
I didn’t meet my goal, but I do feel good with my performance overall.
My goal was to write 50K and finish out my ms at 100K by the end of the challenge (I had written the first 50K by that point).
Right now I’m sitting at just over 80K. Include the 10K or so of cut scenes and a few thousand words of completely rewritten ones, and all together I probably wrote 40-45K, which isn’t too shabby or too far from my goal.
My actual WIP isn’t done yet, but I did make major leaps forward and get lots of material. What I cut needed to go, and there’s more of that to do, but it will be a better story for it. And despite my intent to go for “new” words, I did significantly revise some important scenes that really take it up a notch.
I’ve also come to the (somewhat daunting) realization that I may end up topping 120K on the rough draft, since there are several large sections I haven’t even started yet. Which will give me plenty of room to cut and tighten in revisions.
Another breakthrough during the challenge: a title. I’m now calling this ONE HIGHLAND NIGHT and I feel much better having a name for the thing, almost like it’s a real book.
Things just got insanely busy in my life here at the very end, and it was either slow down or implode. I chose slow down. But the first “sixty” days of sweat were really kicking for me!
Already looking forward to the next challenge, during which I will be finishing the rough draft for this WIP (or so I assume; that is what I said at the beginning of this round after all) and beginning revisions.
September 20th, 2007 at 8:40 am
I didn’t make it to my goal, BUT….
I am so there for the next challenge, depending on how life goes.

I’m over half way into the first draft of a story, with 5 or 6 more lurking in the back of my head.
The challenge kept me focused. For that I thank you very much, because I tend to go off and do… other things. This time I kept coming back and back and back because I told myself I had to.
So my final count is about 54k total, which is 26k short of where I wanted to be, but which is - lets face it - 54k more than I had 70 days ago.
September 20th, 2007 at 8:45 am
I’ve written 30,240 words while the challenge was going on. I started with about 30K, so making it overall to 61055 is awesome. Especially with the amount of travel done over the school break. I’m not far from writing “The End” which is my ultimate goal. Thanks for this challenge! I’ll work hard on a new plot for the next one after I finish, rewrite and edit this one.
THANK YOU, SVEN!!!!!

I met my goal and then some. Already hammering out the details for what will probably be my projects for round 2.
Thanks to the ladies who got this going.

Hmmm. My comment isn’t showing up although it told me it did. So anyway, the comments it won’t let me post are up on my blog at http://www.myspace.com/authorcatjohnson
September 20th, 2007 at 9:11 am
I’ve accomplished so much because of sweat. I’ve written a 70, 000 word novel, 10,000 novella, 30,000 novella and started another novella.
Thank you so much for giving me this wonderful kick in the butt!
September 20th, 2007 at 9:19 am
Fell far short of my goal on word count, but I still wrote a lot. Since I hadn’t written at all before accepting this challenge, it’s definitely a win for me. This challenge gave me the push to just give writing a try already, and I know I’m in for good now. If I could only figure out what this book is about . . .
September 20th, 2007 at 9:23 am
[…] everyone! If you’ve been participating in the 70 Days of Sweat challenge, today is the final check-in! So go do that and tell us how you’ve done. It was a GREAT 70 days, […]
September 20th, 2007 at 9:54 am
My total word count for this challenge was 27947. I started off strong but then the dayjob and summer programs kicked the words right out of me. I will definitely sign up for next time, and the valuable lesson I learned from this? Do not, ever, try to run three summer reading programs at the same time!!! Delegate! (hopefully next year I’ll still have the staff to do so).
This was a great experience, thanks for doing it.
September 20th, 2007 at 10:23 am
During the challenge I finished my book. I’m learning revisions can be just as hard as writing. And I learned I will never ever write another book without plotting first. I’ve learned that there are people out there just like me. I also learned that I can write 1500 words a day if I need too.
Thanks for the challenge it was great fun! Hopefully, I’ll see you all in a few weeks.
September 20th, 2007 at 11:28 am
Thank you so much for starting this challenge! My goal was to finish my sisters book and reach 70,000 words. Right now I’m at 53,000 words so I didn’t make my goal. I’m still pleased because I know I can finish this book in October. This challenge kept me writing. And reading the other participants’ comments inspired me. So a big thanks to everyone!
September 20th, 2007 at 2:31 pm
We’ve added a second poll to the sidebar.
September 20th, 2007 at 3:03 pm
I didn’t make it. I tried, but got taken in by distractions. Bottom line: I managed to write 23,424 words in 70 days.
I plan on joining the next round anyhow. I want to complete this novel and the only way to do that is to keep writing. So bring it on, Sven! LOL
September 20th, 2007 at 3:39 pm
More than completed my goal. I’m thrilled with my overall count (114K) but what’s more important is that over the last 70 Days I’ve pretty much experienced the A to Z points in writing. I finished several books, a few from word one and several from proposal that sold. I did a few rounds of edits on books that have released or will release soon. I just finished revisions for a May release and I finished some projects my agent is pitching.
For me, the challenge wasn’t about getting words down no matter what, but about putting and keeping my writing where I need it to be to be successful. To make a committment to it.
So It’s been a great challenge for me and I will most definitely be back for the next round.
September 20th, 2007 at 4:55 pm
Well, I managed 15,742 words, and I’m proud of myself.
The things I’ve learned from this process:
I can’t push it when I don’t have time. Life does get in the way, and it’ll only stress me out more to think “I should be writing” anytime I get a 5 minute break.
This is my first book, and I should know that I obviously don’t have the writing down to a science in the first draft. But I still try to get every word perfect. I need to leave the editing to later, and just get the story down.
The fact that I have a full time job, do seventeen things for a publisher AND try to have an outside life does, in fact, mean that my word count is going to be lower than other writers’, and I shouldn’t try to compare myself to those who complain about “only” getting in 60k in the past two days. It’ll only depress me.
Despite the fact that I shouldn’t compare, I do. So it’s getting over that hurdle, and still wanting to write that’s the goal.
And this challenge really did help me. Sometimes it hurt to see how much other people were progressing, when I had writer’s block or too much to do, but it pushed me to try and get that word count in, so I think it really helped a lot.
Did I finish my book like I wanted to? Nope, not even close. But I hit the halfway point while doing this challenge, and I’m so proud of myself for that accomplishment. I’m definitely signing up for the next round.
September 20th, 2007 at 5:35 pm
While I didn’t meet my goal, I learned a lot and had a lot of fun. I’ve written more during the challenge than I have ever before. And proved to myself that with discipline and focus I can do it.
This has been a wonderful challenge for me. I will definitely be back for the next round.
September 20th, 2007 at 5:40 pm
I did it, just squeaked over 65k. This has been the best challenge ever. I got so many projects finished and submitted. It’s the faster and the hardest I’ve ever worked, and I haven’t stopped working that way.
Bring on the next challenge!!! BRING IT ON!!!
September 20th, 2007 at 6:32 pm
Sorry it’s taken so long to check in but my personal life is hectic. I came in at 63,000 which is over my goal and finished my first draft. It was great, and I just want to take the time to say THANK YOU to everyone. Also, won a bunch of great prizes that I CAN NOW LOOK AT! THANK YOU!
September 20th, 2007 at 7:12 pm
In all honesty, I ignorantly said when I joined “I’m shooting for 100k”. About a week into the challenge, I realized that 65k or 70 was a much more realistic goal.
There are still a few parts in the rough draft of my novel, Dien’alean, that I need to iron (pronouns to change, a few typo’s, etc), but other than that, it is DONE!
For the Challenge: 71,092
For Dien’alean: 96,818
Couldn’t have done it without you, Sven. Check that. I *wouldn’t* have done it without you.
But enough about me. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU! You’ve all done tremendously well, even if I didn’t have a chance to visit your blogs and tell you so in person. Give yourselves a hand. You deserve it.
September 20th, 2007 at 8:04 pm
My original goal for this challenge was 10k, not much I know but I set at the minimum that I knew I had to do over the days.
My final word count is: 36661
I have completed the pieces that I needed to do and have had so much fun whilst writing more things. Normally I would have done the two pieces and then just pondered for a while before moving forward on something else. Since doing this challenge I have written more things then I thought I would and have found a whole lot of extra time that I didn’t realise I had. I have found out that my time management is not as great as it could be, but that when I put my mind to it I can write and I can write well.
I’ve submitted a lot of things and have also had one of the pieces written during this challenge accepted. I have now lots of ideas for other tales and plans for what I’m going to write during the next challenge.
Thank you for setting this up! And congratulations to everyone for taking part.
September 20th, 2007 at 9:24 pm
Hi All:
During the challenge I wrote a bit over 15,000 words. Not much when compared to some of you, but I consider it a victory under the circumstances. Especially as I have been in a very dark place as far as my writing is concerned. I found that reporting in to be very difficult when I didn’t make any progress. But I think the twice weekly checkins are far enough apart to minimize the amount of time I spend reporting, while frequent enough to help me stay focused on my goal.
Many thanks to all the sponsers. I can’t wait to continue my stories in the next challenge.
Take care…………Wayne

Thank you for this challenge. I didn’t make my original goal, but I have accomplished more than I thought possible. Unfortunately, I let life’s distractions steer me on the wrong path, but I am prepared to finish my wip and look forward to the next challenge. Everyone has inspired me and I can’t thank you all enough.
September 20th, 2007 at 10:24 pm
Well, I didn’t make it to the 100k word goal, reality truly kicked my butt along with a few other things. However today I managed to finally make it to over 80k=80,899k in all.
I will be doing the 2nd challenge and work with a new WIP
Thanks to the sponsors for making this challenge so fun, I also won some great prizes which I’ve since read, and decided they’ll be in my keeper shelves or boxes to pull out in the future if I’m in a blue funk.
September 20th, 2007 at 10:28 pm
I really wanted to write 1000 words every day of the challenge for a total of 70K. While that did not happen, I DID write as much in these 70 days as I had done in the entire prior eight months!! My total words for the Challenge - 35,243. My novel is two thirds finished and I know I can finish it with the next challenge. I loved the daily quotes and all of the encouraging posts from the sponsors. This was a great event and I cannot wait for the next one to start!!! Thank you to everyone who helped to put this together!
September 20th, 2007 at 10:44 pm
Well, I met my 80k goal. Total for the challenge on the two works I signed up for us 80724. I didn’t make the 50k I was shooting for on Primal Encounter, but since Lisia’s Journey is still going strong I made the total target word count. For the last week, I’ve been pressing, trying to get a 13k story finished for an EC caveman submission. Thanks to the steady work and the focus I this challenge gave me, I should finish it in time.
I’m not finished with either story but I hope to be finished, at least almost cleaned, rewritten and submitted before the next challenge.
This challenge has been a great kick and has pushed me back into writing. Thanks so much to the sponsors of this challenge and I’m looking forward to the next!
September 21st, 2007 at 12:06 am
I started out with a goal of writing 90K on a new project. I’ve ended with 55K on that project and a partial for another submitted to an editor.
One of the good things about the challenge has been getting me through two months that saw illness, a hospital trip for my husband, and a major change in our lives with the deteriorating condition of my mother-in-law. When things have been harried and it would have been easy to forget the writing or let it slide to the back burner, the challenge has been a reminder of what I was trying to do.
September 21st, 2007 at 2:08 am
I didn’t meet my goal of 60-70K. Depending on how I count them I probably did 40-50K. I can only give an estimate because I work in an application that is a note organizer instead of a word processor. So it is like having hundreds of virtual note cards that can hold a maximum of 4000 words. I can have dozens open at once so I can zip back and forth between notes, sketches, research and actual scenes. It does allow me to count words in any one or more ’selected’ notes. But it can’t tell the difference between notes and scenes. I just couldn’t seem to discipline myself to keep narrative and dialog completely separate from the notes, or notes to myself out of the scenes. Thus the difficulty.
Anyway, in spite of the theme of the challenge, I don’t consider word count to be the most useful measuring stick for what I accomplished. I think the fact that I spent quality time with my story world every single day since I signed on July 8, is even more important than word count. Because my story world has become so much a part of my life, I can’t imagine setting it aside just because the challenge is over.
I’m going to be back for round two and doing NaNoWriMo simultaneously, working with the same story world. Tho a new novel for NaNo obviously.
Meanwhile, during the break between challenges, besides cranking out more notes and working out plot kinks, I’m going to be reading the novels that were in the prize package I won in one of the Sunday check-ins. I’ve already been working with Holly Lisle’s Plot Clinic and found it immensely helpful. Thanks Alison Kent.
And thanks to all the sponsors for organizing this and all the time and effort you put into it. My life will never be the same.
September 21st, 2007 at 2:32 am
I’ve made an almighty effort for this last week, well, part week and I’ve gotten a weekly total of:
13782
Which means I’ve hit 82000 as my over all sweat total -woo hoo!
Now, I’ve done the words but not on the works i planned but that’s okay. I’ve got a Christmas antholgy out of this (hopefully out December this year) and another story I was contracted to write plus much, much more. I’m a very happy bunny indeed and can’t wait for the second challenge!
I’m going to party in my blog today -come on over and celebrate!

I missed yesterday’s check in. I’ve been preoccupied with some other issues lately, which has slowed me down. I didn’t meet my goal, this time, but I did do more writing than I have in a long time and I think that counts for something. I’m looking forward to the next round.

Sven, I want to thank you for issuing this challenge. While I didn’t check in during the weeks of the challenge, I “altered” it slightly to suit my own writing agenda.
You see I’m a comicbook writer. While I recently wrote a novella (and am in the process of retyping it — I did it longhand, don’t ask), what I’m more interested in these days is writing comicbook scripts, well, I did just that.
I determined to write 10 eight-page scripts over the 10-week period, and, well, I did just that. In fact, what I actually managed to accomplish is the following:
I penned seven eight-page scripts; one 10-page, eight one-page scripts (along with some 30+ additional plots for an on-line, ongoing web comic I’m writing), and one 16-page script. I don’t have a final word count, but it is better than 17,642 words (one story isn’t completely typed, and two more are completely hand-written).
I was planning on writing all of those stories, but your challenge made me written them sooner. Most are intended for specific comics/publishers, and at least one has already been accepted.
Oh yeah, during this same time I also penned two magazine articles, and a number of installments (5-6) for my movie column.
Thanks again for shaking me up a bit. Now, knowing that I can do this, I have a number of other scripts that I want to get written, and I intend to keep going.
Again, my most sincere, and profound thanks!

I finished a book in less than three month period. Who cares about the word count. I did something I’d never done before.
So I’m definitely checking in for the second round.

This gave me the good kick in the butt I needed to write, write, write this summer! I met my goal and was able to ease into the school year guilt-free about my writing. THANKS!

Thank you Ladies for the challenge. It’s been a wonderful eye opener for me.
As far as progress goes…. sigh. I didn’t finish either ms. My computer crashed, I had a wonderful vacation.. my monitor is crashed again and I’m about to lose my library time.
started a third ms, about 2k into it and ready for the next

I didn’t meet my goal, but without this challenge I’d have pushed off starting my novel yet again! So thank you!

A tiny update, a small thing…. the short story I wrote for the challenge sold to Drollerie Press.
(Okay, I’m actually completely freaking out and telling everyone I now and posting all over the interwebs in an obxious manner, but whatever. It’s my first fiction sale, I’m allowed.) And I couldn’t have done it without Sven!

Thank you for the challenge!
I didn’t finish for many reasons. You all did inspire me and I wrote more than I would have without you. Please, do this challenge again! Next year I shall finish it.

The novella I finished thanks to Sven has been accepted at Drollerie! Yeehaw. Now to finish up my Brava contest submission….

I didn’t do as well as I could have, but I did better than if I’d just slogged away on my own, so I’m grateful for the encouragement - or reading other’s e-mails and the inspirational posts that people have put up. I’m looking forward to round 2! (If at first you don’t succeed and all that!)

I read some of the posts and I think it is a great blog. I can be secretive about my willing argument Wanna joke?) Who is Dracula’s favorite person on the baseball team? The BAT boy!

I have been a big fan of the book and watched the movie for the heck of it and I’ve got to say, that was one hell of a movie to watch. I was nearly on the edge of my seat when watching My Sister’s Keeper. I knew about the story plot and everything, but never did I anticipate me getting teary at the end. The movie is a simply must see movie. For those you haven’t watched it yet, I recommend watching it at http://tr.im/mysisters
