September 16th - Sunday check-in
First a note. There will not be a Wednesday check-in this week, but a THURSDAY check-in instead on the 20th - the FINAL day of the challenge! We should have more information on round two available for you then. Or at least be able to tell you when to check back for it!
Now, it’s Sunday and you’ve done what this week?? Hop over to Stephanie Tyler’s blog to see what words of wisdom she has to share!

Am I first? Well, I just cracked 127,000 words total for the Challenge — to be exact, 127,006 words. Part of that word count is on a novel I began at the start of the Challenge, then abandoned for my current WIP.
But I’m very close to the end of that novel, and good ol’ Sven — I’m confident that I’ll be able to say that I reached my goal of having a brand new novel rough-drafted by the close of the challenge. Yay me!
Then I’ll hand the novel over to my Inner Editor, and she can have her fun with it! She’s looking forward to it, believe me.
Thank you so much, sponsors, for this Challenge! I will definitely be sweating with Sven again. This Challenge has been a much-needed kick in the butt for me, and I’ve learned so much about myself, not only as a writer but also as a person.

Well I thought I would just go ahead and post this now. I am at 74500 words total for my WIP, Wings of Desire. I should be at 75/76K by the end of the day. Since my original word count for this story was 75K, I am right on track with the word count. However, there was just too much story for such a low word count. I ended up pushing it to 90K. I set a goal to have this story completed by October 13th, just in time for the next sweat challenge. Woo hoo. I’ll start a small novella after this is done, then start the sequel to this one. I am looking forward to more of Sven’s sweat

Well i’ve accomplished a lot, (wow!) i sent in an entry for the brava novella contest, butit wasnt new words..so no increase for the challenge. i also helped my fiance settle in for his first day of uni yesterday, very emotional.
My total is 36,609, and you know what? i am so damn proud of myself for getting that far. even though i’m no where near finished. i nearly gave up on day two or three because i am pretty much a self doubter through and through and i hate anything i write.
So thank you to the sponsers, to alison kent for setting this up, and of course to all you other challengers who still check in, and to those who’ve swung by my blog to give me encouragement.
it is very much appreciated.

I’m still editing my WIP, combing it for inconsistencies and just slightly elaborating on bits I’ve swept over too quickly. Hope to have it done and dusted by next Thurs!
September 16th, 2007 at 6:43 am
Okay, I did 6392 on my current WIP, bringing the total to approx 52k, but I’m stuck right now.
I worked a little on other stories I have and can report another 6847 to add to the total for the week.
So all in all adding 13239
Onward!
September 16th, 2007 at 7:38 am
I finished my next project. I have done three projects for Sweating with Sven. I am sitting at 62 of 65k so I am confident I will be finish by Thursday.
Bring on the next challenge.
September 16th, 2007 at 11:01 am
The slacker has returned with a grand total of 66629 words for the challenge! That’s, uh, 2761 new words since Wednesday… Can’t believe it’s been almost 70 days and that this whole thing ends Thursday.
Like Amy Ruttan said, Bring on the next challenge!

6672 words for the week. Not shabby. Been working on adding and editing. One day I was almost negative for the day even though I’d written a bit, because I’d deleted a lot too. I’m getting there though. Good luck for those still crossing the finish line.
September 16th, 2007 at 4:16 pm
I’m tying up lose ends on my current wip. The first three chapters I hope are in working order to send off. I need to rewrite my synopsis and a cover letter.
Who knew all this was exhausting?
September 16th, 2007 at 4:34 pm
I’ve put in 616 words this week, which brings my total to 9986 so far in this challenge. I just finished typing in the last of my handwritten pages. I’m taking a break for dinner then I’ll settle in for a long night of writing.
September 16th, 2007 at 4:36 pm
eee, only 15K left! can I do it by Thursday? If not, at least I hope to have everything typed and ready for printing. That way I can add to my word count as I begin editing… we’ll see!
September 16th, 2007 at 5:03 pm
I’m DONE… squealing…
The main WIP, the full length romantic suspense, I’m currently doing a read thru. I should finish it up right around 91-92K. If a certain baby bratlet will cooperate, I’ll get done tonight with the read thru.
Dancing happily.
September 16th, 2007 at 5:07 pm
Just trying to finish up. Still working today.
September 16th, 2007 at 6:14 pm
Revising and revising some more. I’ve brought up my word count to 75,494. That’s 64,494 words in 3 months. I’ve never done that. Yes, I will definitely sign up for the next sweat. I am also cleaning the first three chapters not only to send out to publishers but to agents. A huge step for me. If nothing else I’ll get more feedback on my writing. I’m not going to make 100,000 but I can shoot for 80k. Fingers crossed.
September 16th, 2007 at 6:16 pm
I didn’t get anywhere near the word count I wanted, but I did the most writing that I’ve done in a very long time. And it has got me in the habit of writing. I hope to increase the word count by Thursday.
September 16th, 2007 at 7:43 pm
I know I’ll fall way short of my original goal, but I’m still quite happy. I took this challenge to jump into writing my first novel, and I’ve gotten 35,000 words in. I’m still a little unsure of everything, but this was a great incentive to “just do it” as Nike encourages. I’ll be back Thursday with more words and a smile on my face.
September 16th, 2007 at 9:38 pm
Well, I’ve done well since I last posted! I’ve done a massive 7982 words which takes me to 68479 just a couple of thousand off my lower end predicion for this challenge.
Graned, I’ve not worked on what I expected to work on and most of the owrds have ocme from short stories not my big novel but I’m still pretty happy with myself
It’s been fun so far and I’m really going to sweat -I want to finish this with a real flourish!

[…] I’m a little late with this, but don’t forget to go check in with Sven! […]
September 16th, 2007 at 9:44 pm
Well I started of this week so well but then something happened and I’ve just managed to write 1000 words since Wednesday.
However my word total is now: 35661 and I’m still writing.
I’m beginning to plan what I want to get written during the next 70 Days. Thank you so much for the people who organised the whole thing, it has given me so much more confidence in my writing ability I’m now working towards things I didn’t think I would start so soon after learning to write fiction.
September 16th, 2007 at 9:47 pm
Since last Wednesday’s check in I’ve added a little over 4k, around 2k on both Primal Encounter (39552) and Lisia’s Journey (37547). Total at this point is 77099.
I’m absolutely thrilled and working on getting the last 3k I need for my 80k goal.
September 16th, 2007 at 10:07 pm
16 September:
Magic Touch:
Total word count = 10,157
New words written = 0
Double O Blonde
Total word count = 4,724
New words written = 1,108
Obviously I’m not going to finish either story in the remaining days {laughs}, but I find this list helps me to focus. It gives me a goal since I hate to report that I wasn’t able to write a single word over a half week. I’m looking forward to the next challenge. And who knows, I just might finish one of my stories this time. {grin}
Take care and thanks…………Wayne

Finished up the third draft of the novella and shipped it off tonight. My total new word count for the challenge is 76,737 / 70,000 and several completed projects! I’d be thrilled to hit 80K by this weekend, but I’m on a business trip this week. We’ll see how much writing time I can carve out.
September 16th, 2007 at 11:34 pm
I’m on target to meet my goal.
September 17th, 2007 at 12:11 am
Total this week - 3868
Total for challenge so far - 32,968
Not where I wanted to be, but MILES from the kind of slow progress I made before the challenge
September 17th, 2007 at 12:29 am
i added another 2K this past week. I think that brings my total for the challenge up around 35K which is of course less than half of what I aimed for. But I’m more pleased with myself than disappointed. I feel that my major accomplishment has been more impressive and more important than word count. I’ve established the habit of working intimately with my story world every single day. On some days I seem to live in it more than I do my real life. I’m confident this will pay off in due time.
Meanwhile, I am please that I met my other main goal which I set on a par with the word count goal. That was to remain committed to giving quality attention to my story world for the duration even if, especially if, meeting word count goals became problematic. I swore that I would not give up just because word count slipped below expectations.
I am measuring my success by the establishment of an enduring habit. I know this habit is durable because I have no wish to heave a great sigh and quit working on the 21st.
September 17th, 2007 at 6:41 am
Bad week. Only 4500K. But will finish this WIP by deadline. Just disappointed I didn’t do more to at least start on the next one.
September 17th, 2007 at 7:45 am
Wow, totally forgot to post yesterday.
I’m checking in with a whole lot of nothing once again, lol. Well, I managed 250 words as I was waiting to pick up hubby from the T one day last week, so that’s my weekly total. I have hope for tonight and tomorrow night before it’s back to editing!
September 17th, 2007 at 8:49 am
I figured out the ending of the novel! and it’s within sight! and then I get to, yanno, rewrite half of it at least.
My word count has grown mightily this past week, and the novel is at 61k now.
September 17th, 2007 at 9:41 am
I thought the 15th was the last day but I finished a novella this weekend so yay! Since day one of the challenge I’ve written 111K.
Now I’m letting the novella sit for a few days while I work on some revisions so I don’t think that number will change by the 20th but who knows?
September 18th, 2007 at 12:40 am
sigh, still nothing. Joined a critique group and I’m ready to get this ms completed! I had left the said and says out of a conversation and when someone else read it, they thought it was incomplete, sigh.
Finishing up with a chest cold and will have to catch up on school work so I’m not sure what will happen for Thursday. Can’t believe I missed checking in yesterday.
