  1. AJ O'Donovan Says:

i started my entry for the brava novella contest which has 147 words, but other than that a big fat zero for four days running on my main Ms. not too happy at the moment

  2. Cora N Says:

Tut-tut, Sven. I’ve been waiting since 8:00 this morning to post.

I’m clocking in at 61,823 words, the low end of the Challenge. Wonder how much more I’ll get… :-)

  3. Gina Marina Says:

    I’m first?! What’s happened?

School started but that’s not why I haven’t done anything. Just kind of blah, I hate being bipolar!

I was wondering; how many did we start with and how many are still checking in?

  4. Gina Marina Says:

guess I wasn’t first, we seem to have tumbled on top of each other! :)

  5. AJ O'Donovan Says:

heh, looks like we all jumped in, i think we started with around 200 people signed up…but i think only about 60ish people sign in in total.

  6. WendyPortia Says:

I’m a bit clogged at the moment, both figuratively and literally. The fungal spore pollen index is through the roof here in the UK and I’m suffering from allergies and can’t think straight…

    Excuses, excuses, I know… :(

  7. Jo Says:

Jumping in to the new book, but the first chapter has to be just right, so playing with that.

And for all you die-hard sweat partners, BRAVA!

  8. Christina Says:

I am discovering why they call it revision hell.

  9. Melissa W Says:

As of today I have 74,085 leaving me with about 26k left of my goal. Also I just realized I have to break my last chapter into two chapters.

    Ditto Christina:)

  10. Valerie Says:

Guilty. I was one of those that forgot to check in Sunday. And also guilty that the new writing has slowed down. So, I’m hoping to get recharged and back to churning out new words.

  11. Amanda Freeman Says:

47920 words total, 4502 words this week, I’m about done with a resolution of about 2000-3000 words to write. It’s supposed to be 90,000 but at least 70000. Argh! Need to rework plot. Working on editing. Feeling a bit beaten.

  12. Jaci Burton Says:

I finished my book that I wanted to finish for the challenge, but now I’ve started a novella. Hopefully can get that done by the time the challenge ends, so I’m in again! Woo hoo!

  13. Jess Says:

I’m at 9500 words on my short story and will give it one passover to fix some things my reader caught then it’s out the door, my first real submission. :) And the novel’s at 53k, which means I’ve broken the low wall of the challenge. I’ve revised my own goal: I want to finish the first draft by the end of the month. Still feasible, and still not a bad amount of time, two months of writing.

  14. Cynthia Says:

Word count? I don’t really have a word count to report but I have a brand new outline sitting here in front of me. I’ve been blocked for . . . two weeks now and last night I started working on a new outline. I’m only outlining to the first turning point, which I’ve done pretty much. So, once my afternoon read around the internet is finished I’ll dig in a write. I was really hoping to have pages to report, but I too forgot it was Wednesday.

  15. Joely Says:

My Sven total is 61,778, and I’ve revised 70/126 pages of my novella that’s due by 9/16. I’m splitting my schedule now for new words in the morning at 5:00 a.m., then revisions after the monsters go to bed around 9:00 p.m. Not much sleep but oh well.

  16. Susan B. Says:

Things around here continue to be just bad. I have nothing to report.

  17. deniz Says:

    Hi!
I’ve got a marathon starting tomorrow that I hope will pull me out of my non-writing slump. I’ve typed up another scene, though, at least…

  18. Sandy l Says:

Typed in about 9 pages and handwrote 2 pages. Not too bad. I hope to get more in this week.

  19. Jen Says:

Hit a lull. A whole bunch of regular non-writing commitments getting in the way of writing. Hopefully things will settle by the weekend and I can get some writing done Sat & Sun.

  20. Anne Douglas Says:

two and a half k or so since Sun. Finding it hard slog today for some reason, and I’m in the final stages of this novella and so want to get it finished, stupid low attention span

  21. Nicole Gestalt Says:

I’ve had a really bad few days and I’ve only been able to actually get 100 words written. My main problem at the moment I think is that I’m not sure which project I want to do next so I’ve taken a couple of days of to brainstorm and recover from having over visitors (I stress out very easily and this visit was no exception)

Still at the moment I’m on 26942 words. Which I am actually very happy about and have now got tonnes of piece of work out into submission. Right back to writing I think.

  22. Maude Clare Says:

    47,350 / 60,000 words
    (78.3%)

I’m doing okay. Tired, but okay. I guess you could say I’m in the last quarter of the football game! LOL! I’ve completed two chapters since Sunday, which was really hard work. Today I have spent the whole day down at Mother’s, so I will be writing late. I only did 3 pages yesterday, so I’ve got to stay here till I do 8 pages tonight. Got chocolate. Am ready.
Hope everyone is well and busy.

  23. Amy Ruttan Says:

6k since Sunday!! Sitting at 56 out of 65k!!! Woohoo.

  24. Christine d'Abo Says:

I’m on vacation this week, so I’ve actually been able to get some writing done! Since Sunday I’ve written 10, 000 words. I’ve finished one novel, a novella, and I’m working on finishing up my Brava contest entry. Good times. :D

  25. Cat Johnson Says:

Not doing so hot. About 500 words. Better news Sunday.

  26. Lynn Says:

Like Wendy, allergies have hit me this week, too. Working through it. 19,410 challenge total.

  27. Marty Rayne Says:

I missed Sunday’s check in because I was out of town…no computer :( I got a little done this week, but the holiday really threw me off my schedule.
    3,393 since last check in

Total for challenge to date - 37,125 :)

  28. Silke Says:

    1) Book Title - Naiche (Working title, 1st draft)
    2) Hero Name / Occupation - Naiche / Demon Killer
    3) Heroine Name / Occupation - Tia / Database Specialist / Agent
    4) Setting - Contemporary
    5) Length - 80,000

    Current count: 37,545

    Urgh.
I retyped a load to keep the story flowing and found I had to cull a load of rubbish. So even though I progressed, it isn’t visible.

  29. Diane Craver Says:

I only wrote 674 words since Sunday, but I celebrated with family on Labor Day so no writing that day. I had to fix picnic food to eat. We went swimming and had a nice time. I had some stuff I had to do for promo for my other books but hoping to get a few thousand done by Sunday.

    Total count: 46,000

  30. Rebecca Airies Says:

Since Sunday I wrote 4997 words, bringing my total for the challenge up to 65,038 words. Lisia’s Journey is up to 31495 and Primal Encounter is at 33543. It’s been a good week. :)

    Good luck to everyone!

  31. Nancy Fairweather Says:

19,300 . This is a baby step forward from last check in, and if I churn out 4400 words a day, I can still make the deadline. Maybe. I’m going back to the get up early and type method. Goodnight!

  32. B.L. Foxxe Says:

One page in the last three days for the Challenge novel. It sucks!

On the other hand when it comes to edits, I’ve added nearly thirty pages because I needed to flesh characters some with additional back history…

  33. Thomma Lyn Says:

Up to 108,407 words, total, for the challenge — 5,141 words since the Sunday check in. Still pushing forward and definitely in the home stretch!

  34. Angelle Trieste Says:

    Doing much better than before…

Identified about 10 more items to fix/add, etc. and made some changes.

I’m sure I’m going to finish the 2nd draft before the challenge’s over.

  35. Caro Says:

Have added about 5,000 words to the suspense over the past three days. Also made notes on revisions for the rest of the book I just sent off the proposal for.

  36. Bettie Says:

The spreadsheet tells me I’ve written 2,734 words since Sunday, for a challenge total of 73, 197 words. Since the contest started, I’ve finished one 28K word story (and started extensive revisions) written a short story, and started two new stories bringing me to a total of 5 concurrent WIP’s. Man, I need to focus.

  37. Kate Scott Says:

Haven’t written a thing. Too much else going on. Sigh. Hopefully I’ll get something this weekend…

  38. Celedë Says:

I’ve got about 65 k. My goal was 60 k, so… *grins* I’m miles behind with my homework though. Eeks.
