Am taking a short break from the challenge. Will be back and post some progress on Wed. :)

  2. Thomma Lyn Says:

Still sweating, though my pace has eased up somewhat. I’m very much in the home stretch of my WIP.

Total word count for challenge: 103,266

Words written since last check-in: 6,159

I’m headed for a goal word count of 120,000 for the challenge since I started with the wrong story and had to begin a new one 12,000 words or so in.

  3. Victoria Blisse Says:

Well, I’ve not done as well as I’d have liked this week but I am happy to report it’s the last one of the school holidays and I’ll be back to my regular writing schedule come Tuesday. I’ve not done too badly considering I’ve been fiting writing in at all hours, now I know I can write at other times than the morning if I want to.

    Weekly total :4193
    Sweat grand total :55,954

I must do better, but I am still plodding on -yay me!

  4. WendyPortia Says:

My main WIP is with my critique partner now, so am waiting on that. But in the meantime, since Wednesday, I’ve been doing some work on a short story. I did around 2.2K words in two days, but then edited it on the third day and it shrank back down to 1.9K…

  5. Maude Clare Says:

    44,350 sort of / 60,000 goal
    (73.3%)

Which means around 2,500 words since Wed, which I might add is a miracle considering life was working against me. Too much housework. Too much yard work. But I sat and dug into this nightmare chapter and finally finished it yesterday. But I hate it. I think I am now about 5000 words behind on the Challenge, which means it’s going to take some work for me to finish on time. BUT I AM!!!!!!!! I may pull an overnighter today. I am also plotting a bit on Challenge #2 book, which needed it. But then I realized I was distracted. Let’s just say, it’s been a blur of work, all kinds since Wed. I survived and the words are done.

  6. Celedë Says:

    I have 56 800 words. My goal is 60 k so I’m getting there:D I think I wrote about 7 k this week.

  7. Cat Johnson Says:

Writers block again. Being a panster has this downfall sometimes. I don’t know where the hell I am going and I don’t have a map! Anyway, wrote about 4500 this week, but all during the first half, nothing the past few days and the holiday weekend is NOT helping. Hopefully back on track next week cause I have to submit this WIP by Sept 30th.

  8. Diana Says:

    46 pages. 13.5k words. And….I’m done.

  9. Sandy l Says:

Handwrote two pages this week, but did some outlining and know where I am going. This week I will write at least 10,000 words!

  10. Jo Says:

Hey, Yay, Diana! And all of you. Wonderful that you’re all hanging in as the adrenalin portion of the challenge is pretty much over.

As for me, I plotted the new book, wrote the synopsis- the one for me not for the editor, which is more like a fast 1st draft than a synopsis, and now I’m doing revisions on a novella and a book, preparing my lectures and exercises for the workshop I’m giving, and starting the new book. Jeez, I need a vacay.

  11. Cora N Says:

    *Wipes away sweat*

I’ve made it to 58k and a little more this week (er, total for the challenge, not what I’ve written this week. If that were the case, I would be bouncing off the walls!). I don’t remember what I said my goal was when we first started (stupid me, didn’t write it down anywhere), but I’m pretty sure it was 60k. Almost there! Not that I’m going to stop when I get to 60…

Funny thing I realized yesterday: there are bruises on my arm from resting my arms on this desk as I type. (!!!) I need to make some sort of padding for it.

  12. Hyacinth Hawke Says:

Hi people. I am excited. I think I may get 65K by the end of tomorrow. I’m at 63125 right now.

  13. Shiloh Walker Says:

Worst week yet. I only hit about 69K on the Missing, and the others are negligible. My excuse is a sick baby bratlet. I spent my week fighting a high fever and trying to keep a diaper on her butt~she discovered how to remove it. Oh joy.

But she’s better now. I might try to hit 70K today. If I can get up 75K by next check in, I’ll be happy.

  14. Silke Says:

Almost 9k this week, I’m proud of myself. :)

  15. deniz Says:

doing better and worse than I thought. I need 15K more to reach 60K but I’m still writing less than 1000 words per day… gotta try harder!

  16. Silke Says:

Dagnabbit I wanted to edit the comment but since I can’t…
    For my own reference:
    1) Book Title - Naiche (Working title, 1st draft)
    2) Hero Name / Occupation - Naiche / Demon Killer
    3) Heroine Name / Occupation - Tia / Database Specialist / Agent
    4) Setting - Contemporary
    5) Length - 80,000

    Current count: 37,235

    Oh…man… /faint. I’m so behind. :/

  17. Melissa W Says:

29k away from my goal. Still revising and adding as I go along. 18 more days to go I can do it. Or at least make it to 90k.

  18. Diane Craver Says:

I didn’t check in on Wed. so for the whole week I have 3,005 words. I’m happy with my word count because I had a lot going on this week. I have 45,500 words done now so this challenge as definitely motivated me. I’m going to try and reach 70,000 by the deadline or soon after the 20th!

I’m very glad I signed up for this challenge.

  19. Lynn Says:

607 new words. Challenge total: 18,858 I’m going slow and getting slower all the time. Blah! Trying to work through the self doubt today, and get some words down.

  20. Emily Marshall Says:

Not too well this week. I don’t think I got any and I’m still only at 14,000 total. I’m not sure I’m going to finish, especially since I have to go back and revise another manuscript, which has been taking up most of my time. But we’ll see.

  21. Amanda Freeman Says:

3360 words for the week. Next week school’s in session!!!

  22. AJ O'Donovan Says:

i’ve done nothing over the last two days, managed to do about 2000 before that. im not going to get it done in time so i’m pretty upset.

  23. Erin Says:

I wrote 1,913 words this week.
    Bad!
The total for the challenge is 33,389 out of 60.000.
Good news is all of my separated scenes are coming together. The ending is in sight.
Really going to try to reach my goal of 60.000 words before this is over.

  24. Christine d'Abo Says:

I was away all this week so I didn’t get a lot of writing done. I’m actually starting my second story for the challenge. It’s one that I have mostly finished, only 10,000 to go.

So far I’ve only managed 1000 words this week.

That said, I’m home from my day job all this week and plan to make it a writing week. I plan to wear my keyboard out. :D

  25. Susan B. Says:

Well…Still no progress to report. But I think I’m getting ready to go back to it. Hopefully when the holiday weekend’s over and DH goes back to work (and going to bed early) and DD starts her new thing and my schedule evens out… and the planets align and my dog finally tells me what comes next…excuses excuses.

  26. Rebecca Airies Says:

It’s been a good week. Since Wednesday, I’ve written 4514 words about half of that on each story. Total for Primal Encounter=30541. Total for Lisia’s Journey=29498. Challenge total=60039. I hope to at least be near 65k by next check in.

    Good luck to everyone!

  27. Caro Says:

Temperatures hit 110 here today, so I’m definitely sweating. :)

Proposal is in the mail! Woo hoo! And I’ve written six pages by hand on my romantic suspense — I’ve been keeping the computer off most of the day due to the temperatures and potential power outages.

  28. Joely Says:

Still going, up to 57,917 new words for the challenge, including today. I need to be doing revisions on the completed novella, but the new one is calling pretty hard…

  29. Christina Says:

revising here. lost track of words this week.

  30. Laurie L Says:

My work schedule was terrible last week and I was only able to write 2,310 words since my last check in. That’s a grand total of 38,110 words. My only consolation was that I wrote a little every day. I am not giving up. Even if my goal is not met, I am going to make writing a daily habit.

  31. B.L. Foxxe Says:

Hello, I missed Weds, not a happy camper and pretty much know I missed this deadline as well. I’m close to reaching my 80k goal, though its taken me longer than planned. I’m bogged down in edits which keep disappearing much to my annoyance. How am I supposed to know where I left off? *irritated growl*

Other than that, I’m only 2k words away from the 80k so if I get beyond that and finish the first draft of the novel, I’d guess that I’m doing really good. (Yep using all the garbage words, oh well. *snicker*)

    Toodles.

  32. Barratt Miller Says:

Six pages, but given that I’ve been handling a full load of classes, too, I’m surprised I’ve written at all.

  33. Katie Hart Says:

    11,734 words total

  34. Bettie Says:

Record heat, blackouts and persistent brownout conditions ruined my plans to spend the weekend writing. No power and no A/C! I was practically forced to go to the beach!

900 words since Wednseday, for a challenge total of 70,463.

  35. Pamela Bolton-Holifield Says:

Only 2210 for this week. I am down, but not out. 27,955 for the challenge and over 60 K for this WIP. This challenge HAS helped. I have written almost as much in the challenge as I did the entire time I worked on this novel.

  36. Amy Ruttan Says:

4 k which I think tipped me in the 50’s I’m getting close to 65k!!!! WOOHOO.

  37. Michelle Willingham Says:

Rough week for me, because of back-to-school stuff, but I’m getting back on track. I’m up to page 222 and around 46,000 words. Getting there slowly…

  38. Jenny C. Says:

Didn’t quite make my end-month goal, but I got close. 5300 words for the week, leaving me at about 78.4K. Took the long weekend off, and back into the thick of it starting tomorrow. Gonna give the morning routine another shot, since my evening productivity has slacked off.

    Into the home stretch!

  39. Anne Douglas Says:

I forgot to check in last night - blame it on playing poker with our intl visitor.

5500 for the week. Which considering this was a very bad week (1 aunts cancer diagnosis, 1 death, 1 ms rejection, and 1 email from my ex husband) wasn’t too shabby. And takes me to one scene and a bit from the end of this novella.

  40. Kate Scott Says:

I’m all confused about the date, so I forgot to check in yesterday, thinking it was Saturday. Oh well.

I really have no new update since Wednesday’s, since Saturday was release day so I had so much to do for that.

  41. Nicole Gestalt Says:

We had an unexpected visitor turn up over the weekend so my writing (and my reporting in on the writing) has totally gone down hill since Wednesday I’ve only really managed to write 1000 words however I have sent of the second story that I wanted to write over these 70 Days so I’m happy I guess. I tried to do some work today although I was so tired I fell asleep instead!

Anyway my total now stands at: 26842 words

I know it’s really small compared to everyone else’s but I’m happy with it and I’ve really enjoyed doing this challenge.

  42. Jess Says:

I am happy to report I’ve finally got my kick back. I had an AWFUL last month but I realized some of the problems with the story and am back to writing BEFORE I go to work. I have 52400 right now on the novel, and I’ve been revising the short story so that’s now at 8300 or so? I’d have to look. All I know is I’ve written over 60k, the low end for the challenge, and am going to try my best to reach my personal goal of 80k - more like, FINISH MY DRAFT. :)
