Wow, am I first? Well, I had one slow day since the last check-in, but I’m still rockin’ and rollin’, and my Inner Editor is jumping for joy at all the raw verbiage she’ll get to tear to shreds come September 20! Heh.

Total for Sweat Challenge: 87,210 words

    Words written since Sunday’s check-in: 6,705

    Average words-per-day since July 8: 1,896

    WOO HOO!!!!

  2. WendyPortia Says:

No new words since last check in, but I’m editing like a good ‘un now. My current objective is to get the words to *decrease* as I am 2K over budget on my count. Am enjoying the edit, and feeling reasonably okay about the book, and probably working more solid hours in the day than when I’m actually adding words!

So I don’t think Mr Blue and Sven are going to be too cross with me… :)

  3. Angelle Trieste Says:

    Nothing done.

  4. Merry Says:

600 words since the last check in and I’ve typed up all I wrote long-hand. The short piece is done in first draft form (except for a closing sentance and a title) so now I’m into editing.
Not immensely speedy or prolific but I do have a glow of achievement!

  5. Shiloh Walker Says:

61K on The Missing up from 56k on Sunday
42K on Beautiful Girl up from 38k on Sunday
8K on Hunter’s Fall up from 4k last week

  6. Jaci Burton Says:

31 pages since Sunday. Rockin on towards finishing up this book!

  7. deniz Says:

    Hello!
Doing OK… wrote 500 words and typed up even more on Monday. Did some research yesterday, uncovering crucial flaws in my developing plot I’ve got to write a lot more today, or failing that, type up the last c.5000 words I have in lognhand - which will bring my overall total to 30K - only 50K more to go, ha ha!

  8. Joely Says:

Still grinding away at 500-1000 words per day. My Sven total is up to just over 39K and I’m in the final sections of the novella.

  9. Carrie Lofty Says:

Since last check-in, 380 words added during revisions. 329 pages edited total for the challege.

  10. Sandy l Says:

Over 1,000 words this week, but now I am back tracking a little. (Which may not be a good thing, but I need to work onthe world building.)

  11. Valerie Says:

Since Sunday my progress is 6684 words. I’m pleased. Especially considering some of the distractions, lol.

  12. Jess Says:

48300 on the novel w/o words for today, total for challenge, 55000.

  13. Kate Scott Says:

I’ve gotten almost a thousand since Sunday, which I’m PSYCHED about! After not writing for weeks, I hit a stride last night and managed the thousand. I’m really, really hoping to get to the halfway point of this story by the Sunday check-in. Wish me luck!

  14. Ava Rose Johnson Says:

Finished the last 5,000 words of one novella, and have 2000 words on a Christmas story.

  15. Cat Johnson Says:

5,000 words in the last 3 days. But the big news… Finished the Brava Contest Novella and submitted my entry!! Now, on to the next book!

  16. Silke Says:

Wheee I am so dang slack lately. Things are getting on top of me and it’s just downright depressing.
    I got exactly -nothing- done.

  17. Maude Clare Says:

    38,500 / 60,000
    (63.3%)

Which is three chapters more than last Wed. I am feeling good about staying on track, which means I might actually finish in 60 days instead of 70, because I am only doing 60,000 words on the first draft. It’s been a hard week though, too hot, too hard to keep the flowers alive, and so forth. But I hear there are floods in Texas and a bunch of other places. So we all have our weather troubles. However, my yard needs rain.

  18. Cora N Says:

Without today’s words, which are so far at a smokin’ number of 100 words, I’ve achieved a teeny bit over 47k for the challenge. Not awesome, not bad.

  19. Tina Bendoni Says:

I have been a bad girl the last few weeks, although did get about 13K done on a story that I was going to sub as a novella, but realized if I tried to fit it in the heat requirements, it wasn’t going to work, so I have decided to make it full length. All the necessary stuff is there, too. I would have been compressing it if I hadn’t decided to make it longer. Soo, bad for a couple weeks, good this past weekend.

  20. Anne Douglas Says:

Last week was a write off. But kiddo went back to School Monday (if I was the praying type I’d offer up a few hallelujahs, but I’m not, so I’ll offer up a thank you to the gods of happy drugs and my sanity) and I’ve racked up 3.5k, and the day’s not over yet. I’m hoping for another good 1k on top of that now that I’ve figure out what happening next LOL!

  21. Melissa W Says:

Since the last check in I’ve written 2,768 words. Making the total added words 52,482 and my total word count 65,060. Fingers crossed by the end of the week I’ll be writing THE END and start layering.

  22. Amanda Freeman Says:

Wasn’t able to check in on Sunday as I was in remote parts of Ireland sans internet connection. However, much to my kids and husbands disgust I brought my laptop and wrote every day. Some for my personal blog and some on my novel, so since last check in I’ve written 2420 words. Now that I’m not writing by computer light, sitting in a tent in the middle of Ireland, I’m hoping I’ll be a bit more productive.

  23. Patty L. Says:

3,150 words since Sunday. Not great, but better than I have done in lately.

  24. Hyacinth Hawke Says:

Hi all! WINGS OF DESIRE has broke 50K. I’m at 52,800 words. I should have no problem getting to 55K by the end of the week. I ended up pushing the word count up to 85K for now. It’s too much story for 75K. It may end up going higher though. I’m afraid it may be too long for an erotic romance though. I fear it may be 100K easily. But that’s all good. IS there a market for 100K erotic romance?

  25. Cynthia Says:

I’ve put in about 100 words so far today. I’ll plug into the music and put some serious word down later. Right now I’m going through my manuscript and filling in spaces, broadening scenes, hoping to get back into character. I stepped away for several reasons, none good, and now I have to remind myself who these people are becoming.

  26. AJ O'Donovan Says:

Well i reached my goal of 30k! yay. I’m on 30937 to be precise. but i need a big kick up the a*s to work harder. i need to do at least 1000 words per day to get my total in time, and i’m just not managing it. im starting to really dislike my book too.

So feel free to come comment on my LJ, i need all the encouragement i can get.

  27. Marissa Says:

Feeling pretty good with the change in books I made a few weeks ago. Now this one is up to 7200+ words and flowing well. It’s GREAT to be able to hae the words flowing so freely.

  28. Amy Ruttan Says:

Ok nothing since Sunday. I’ve been doing some Beta reading. I’m getting back into writing tonight and hopefully I want to do over 6k by Sunday check in.

  29. Lynn Says:

Just under 1,000 since Sunday. 982 to be exact. Figured out some changes that need to be made, so, hopefully, that will help speed the flow of things. 16,791 total words.

  30. Nicole Gestalt Says:

Just over 2700 words since Sunday which I’m happy about, I’m currently working on various pieces including some sudden fiction (very short pieces less then 500 words) which I’ve been really enjoying.

Total so far: 21092 words which I am just so pleased with!

  31. Christine d'Abo Says:

I’ve done almost nothing this week. I’m away on a business trip. So far I’ve only edited one chapter and added about 1000 words. But it’s better than nothing. :)

  32. Barratt Miller Says:

I’ve written sixteen pages since Sunday. As I haven’t written much this month, I’m thrilled that I’m actually writing again. I’ve decided to stop worrying so much about self-imposed deadlines. Write now, I’m writing for fun and for practice, not necessarily for publication.

I’m still learning, and right now, all I need to do is love what I’m writing. I’d been pulling teeth with the manuscript I was working on (I’m fifty pages from the end, but my beginning is so horribly flawed that I’ve created a plot hole I can’t write my way out of). It was such a mess that I’d stopped caring and couldn’t write even a few sentences. I tried, just for fun, starting something new today, and wrote more in two hours than I’ve written in the past two weeks.

I think it’s time to move on.

  33. Susan B. Says:

    since Sunday 3826
total for the Sweat 38922 (goal 36000)
    total for the manuscript 75625

Into my Black Moment this week. Not the funnest place ever.

  34. Christina Says:

I think I lost count of how many words since Sunday. But I have completed a book, I wrote the final words last night. Now it is time to put my h/h away for a few weeks and then regroup.

I am currently plotting the next piece, well I am hoping to. I need to push forward. I have like 40k left with Sven and I plan on trucking right along.

  35. Krista Says:

    WIP total: 60,008

I think that means I’ve added a little over 22K to my story since we started the challenge.

  36. Rebecca Airies Says:

I wrote 3839 words since the last check in bringing the total to 47807. 1293 on Lisia’s Journey and 2546 on Primal Encounter. I’m still working on today’s writing. I’m happy with what I’ve gotten done, but I’m more happy about the way the ideas and characters are falling into place.

Lisia’s Journey looks like it’s going to go for more than the 30k I planned. I’m at 21425 and not near the end.

  37. Bri Says:

48,053 words…behind, but trying to gain :) Not a good week - moved out and into a new place - But I’ll catch up!

  38. Gina Marina Says:

no progress on ms or finding word program to reload, sigh

  39. Bettie Says:

Doing revisions has slowed me down a bit. I’ve done 3,066 since Sunday for a challenge total of 67,370. I’m also working on revisions.

  40. Bettie Says:

Apparently, I’m also repeating myself. Maybe I should stop trying to write and go to sleep.

  41. Wayne (aka Trybble) Says:

    Total word count = 9,889
    New words written = 0

    I got side tracked this week doing some other writing-related tasks {frown}. I hope to get back to recycling electrons this weekend. {smile}

    Take care…………..Wayne

  42. Pamela Bolton-Holifield Says:

A pitiful 595 since Sunday! I am going to slink back into my hole now.

  43. Caro Says:

Revisions for proposal almost done! Clearly, I won’t have the book I intended done by the end of this challenge, but I will have a completed project that’s in front of an editor and that ain’t bad.
