Wednesday Check In

So how is the word count coming?

304 words for the week. I’m taking a writing vacation after last month’s crazy push. Will be writing again by the weekend. Hope everyone is making their goals!

Things I have accomplished outside my word count:

    1. Completed edits on two upcoming releases
    2. Completed self edits, synopsis and blurb/query for Cowboy story. Subb’d in Samhain cowboy antho
    3. Cheering section as timekeeper/wordcount pusher for three people as they crossed over into NaNoWriMo’s winner’s circle.
    4. Celebrated the end of crazy November with a nice glass (or two) of wine, lots of Christmas movies, and homemade hot chocolate.

  2. Kim Knox Says:

1700 for the week. I’m stalling and need to plot out my latest wip today.
I did the absolute final read though on a novella yesterday and subbed it to EC, so the day wasn’t completely wasted, lol

Now I’m off to get tea and plot :D

  3. Matt S Says:

I’m taking a short break after the craziness of Nano. I think I might start again tonight, though.

  4. Portia Da Costa Says:

Progress is slow at the moment. Attempting to do editing *and* new writing last week and the week before has hit my body hard. Am full of aches and pains at the moment, and can only do short stints on the laptop. :(

    So not much to report…

  5. Kimatha Says:

Total Sven wordcount 28,197. 38,697 total words for the project. So I’m just plugging along!

  6. Jess Says:

I’m at 60k (22k pre-Sven). Woo, crossing that 60k line has jump-started my momentum; can’t wait to write today on my lunch break!!

  7. Deb Mullins Says:

8500 total but I expect to be moving along now that I worked out some things in the first two chapters.

  8. Lell Says:

Posted late on Sunday, guess I’ll post early. After my crazy weekend push, I took Monday off, then came back swinging for the fences last night with something like 6k. That’s about 60k for Sven so far, and about 83k on the novel since November 1. Tonight I’m closing out a major part of the novel (it’s in a trilogy format, I’m finishing part 2), and tomorrow I start on one of the two WIPs I’m finishing before Christmas. I don’t want to abandon my Nanonovel while it’s still hot but I want even less to have these two #%!@ WIPs still in the unfinished folder.

Also, am really looking forward to telling my obnoxious friend, “So there! I can finish a novel! Suck it!”

That sort of announcement might call for a full-page ad in the Times. I’ll research it, get back to you.

  9. Jaci Says:

About 3000 words for the week so far. Still plodding along slow but steady. Expect a huge push any day now, among the zillion other things I have going on. And galleys arrived yesterday for another book–of course. Because I need yet another project. Heh.

  10. Kristi Says:

Around 51,000 words (finished NaNo Sunday). However, once I get a few minutes, that’s probably going back down to around 30-40,000. At one point I wrote myself into a corner, and started the next chapter with “Pretend the last two chapters never happened”. Obviously, I kept my deadend for NaNo purposes.

Have a crit group meeting tonight, and I did a little sprucing of my first 15 pages or so to bring in (prolog plus first scene of Chapter 1). This week, I’m expecting my word count to go down, with deletions and edits taking all my writing time. Starting next week, back on the up and up!

  11. Elen G Says:

    Steady. 18500/60k.

@Kristi - “Pretend the last two chapters never happened.”

You have no idea how that made me laugh. And for some reason, I found it uplifting — as in, we are not alone uplifting. :-)

  12. Patty L. Says:

I’m checking in with a whopping 200 words. I haven’t written anything. I was a cheerleading practice and meetings until 9 last night and Monday night my son had an event at school and I didn’t get in until 8. I have to make time for my writing. I hate to say this but I may have to get up early in the morning. UGH!!!

  13. Nicole Gestalt Says:

Once again I have no total to give, though I am hitting at least 1000 words a day. I’m pushing myself to hit lots of deadlines and shoot for submissions I wouldn’t have gone for had I not been doing this. I’m even going back to my first love of pure Science Fiction which has been so much fun to revisit….though I admit I’m a little behind on the science.

Keep at it everyone! Even a word a day is better then none.

  14. mikaela Says:

My writing is going slowly, right now I have gotten 1500 words so far this week. But I am moving so… Hopefully it will be better next week :)

  15. Amanda Says:

2592 words for the week. I’m in the post NaNo slump.

  16. Heather Harper Says:

Um, I took a hiatus once I realized I was not going to meet my Nano deadline. I blame it on a stomach virus that attacked my entire family, one emergency room visit, hosting Thanksgiving dinner and a 6 yr old’s bday party the following Saturday, AND a suddenly sick cat I had to send to kitty heaven yesterday.

My butt will be back in the writing chair tonight.

    More power to y’all!

  17. Marilyn Brant Says:

12,800 for Sven so far, but there’s at least 70K left…
    Keep going, everyone! :)

  18. Annie Gray Says:

18,391 words so far on novel! I wrote over 2,000 words yesterday! Whoo!

  19. Kait Nolan Says:

Um, does blogging count… ? I’ve got thousands and thousands of words across those. Seriously though, this week is going better. I’m at 1611 before counting today’s progress (which isn’t finished yet). I didn’t write yesterday as I was revising my outline and figuring out a conundrum for a scene, but I woke up with the answer, so I’m working on that today.

  20. Karen Junker Says:

Note to self: emailing friends to do research for your novel does not count as word count. Neither does watching Oprah reruns.

  21. Shiloh Walker Says:

Well aside from the two batches of edits I received, I did pretty decent, although most of it was yesterday-looking at 8k since Sunday.

  22. deniz bevan Says:

alright! brand new momentum started with the new month! I’m editing with red pen on paper and have set a goal of 6 pages per day, to finish all two hundred by the end of the month - did 12 pages last night! woo hoo!

  23. Maria Says:

I’m finally picking up pace! I hit 28000 words last night. Hopefully I can keep this up through the holidays…

  24. Jen Says:

I’m up to 25k total in Sven and have done about 5k since Sunday. Just chugging right along. I like the pace I have right now, and I just hope I can keep it up!

  25. Robin Says:

I’m at just over 24K for Sven. I’ve written 3k since Sunday so keeping at about a 1k/day pace. I keep hoping to increase that pace, especially since I know I won’t get as much writing done the closer it gets to the holidays. Happy writing everyone!

  26. Darcy Burke Says:

Cumulative? Nada. I’m with all the other NaNo vacationers. Although I’m not taking a purposeful vaca. I just have a busy week and a sick kid. I said cumulative because I did go back a few scenes and do some revising (that end of NaNo push was, uh, crazy to say the least). So I’ve at least been looking at the file.

  27. Cassie Says:

565 words since Sunday though all written today. I took 2 days off after winning NaNo.

36,328 words for Sven out of 51,176 total. Working my way to 75K.

    Keep it up everyone. :-D

  28. Dita Says:

Stopped by to drop off 1748 words Stop Off to nip and tuck a WIP so can’t stop now Stop Keep up the Ab Fab work thru Sunday and beyond everyone and don’t stop Stop

  29. Jen P Says:

I’m straggling in with 12,052. I’ve only gotten ~1000 in the past two weeks. :-/ But school will be over on Monday, and I can start writing again!

  30. K.B. Wagers Says:

    delayed response *grins* as usual…

I’m chugging along and for some reason this week decided to start work on a second story in addition to the one I’m currently working on. *head desk* So I’ve cranked out about 1500 words in that one in addition to the other. We’re doing good.

But I might lose my mind before the end of the year. :D
