Geez…I can’t believe I’m going to be the first but I am. I just happen to be up because I’m…gasp…writing. Yeah deadlines and Sven can be motivating.
This week I definitely made my daily 1000 word goal…actually…I topped it. My total this week was 6972. I should have written a little more but I did this along with a daily journal that my naturopath is having me keep for a while. That probably adds another 1000 words a day as it is six pages and is a lot different than working on my wonderful stories.
Maybe I won’t complain any more.
See you next Wednesday. I promise to blow your socks off!

Meh. I wrote 2602 words sunday night and haven’t written since. i’m not stressing about it too much because i knew i wouldn’t have time to do Sven with university work as well but i am going to buckle down and get to it this week if i can. (week after is a no go on work because it’s my birthday week and i’m doing waaaay too much stuff)
Total so far = 4957
Hmm… should probably have triple that huh?
November 23rd, 2008 at 4:56 am
Pretty pleased with my progress so far. Even though I’m editing a WiP at the same time, I’m adding new words on other projects, commissioned and speculative stuff, plus outlines and notes.
Because of the editing, I set a modest daily goal of 860 words, but so far, despite a couple of null days, I’m managing to knock out about 1K per day!
Total so far for 13 writing days is 13497!
November 23rd, 2008 at 7:22 am
Sven total for the week: 11,857 WOW.
Total Sven: 24,470
YAY!
Some of these words are ROUGH words, but I’m ahead on my NaNo and that’s awesome! Thanks Sven, and everyone is doing so well!!!
November 23rd, 2008 at 8:44 am
I’m at about 16k. I rarely get anything done on weekends so I’m making up time come Monday.
November 23rd, 2008 at 9:03 am
Between the revisions and the bronchitis, I haven’t had much time for writing (will improve next week!) 1k.
Dawn: Wow. Just…. wow.
November 23rd, 2008 at 9:30 am
I wrote 9k on my ms this week, plus 1k on a proposal. I’m at about 19k of my project 95k novel.
I’m a bit under the word count for my ms that I was aiming for this week, but not by much.
November 23rd, 2008 at 10:58 am
Wow, Dawn! That’s awesome!
I’m only at 10,720 because IMO (In Mom’s Opinion), school comes before writing, and until I catch up in some classes…
November 23rd, 2008 at 10:58 am
…. Let’s not talk about this week. Right? Oh. I have too? Well… let’s just say that real life intervened- Big Way.
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:38 am
sigh… no new scenes yet, but I typed up about 2000 words of handwritten bits, editing as I went. I plan to start another round of getting up at 5 am and writing before work!
November 23rd, 2008 at 12:20 pm
I’m at 18421 at the moment. Haven’t written as much as I wanted, BUT, I’ve managed to get the love scene I was stuck on sorted - I think.
November 23rd, 2008 at 12:42 pm
I did about 3k since Wednesday. The wip is almost finished then I can leave it to stew for a while before editing and moving onto something else.
Nothing as yet today. I’m title hunting.
November 23rd, 2008 at 1:23 pm
This week’s total = 8456.
Sven total = 17885.
Averaging 8942/wk or about 1280/day. Which is RIGHT ON TARGET (goal is 3.5 - 4 pages/day).
Ms total = 26288.
That EL Doctorow quote was a big help, because I am ennervated by the new mysterious process of plotting as I go.
I’m stoked because this is two weeks of meeting goals in a row, and the most work I’ve done in years. Thank you Sven, you sweety. (Here’s a towel, tho, cuz you’re dripping on the carpet.)
Also, yesterday got two leads on illustrators for the children’s story I’d like to publish (written decades ago).
GO Team Sven!
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Weekly total: 8359 words
Sven total: 16,146 words
Project total: 26,646 words
This week was rough, because I’m transitioning from the beginning to the middle. And I don’t want to get into the NaNo thing of just writing something crazy. I’m doing The Artist’s Way right now too, and what I’ve been doing is describing a couple of possible Next Scenes in my morning pages, and then picking one or two to write during my lunch breaks and in the evenings after work. It works pretty well, because I don’t spend 15 or 20 minutes sitting there trying to figure out what happens next. When I sit down to write, I start writing right away.
November 23rd, 2008 at 2:51 pm
11,702 in all so far!
November 23rd, 2008 at 3:32 pm
Whoops! I totally forgot to check in on Wednesday! After a slow start, I’m finally picking up pace. I’ve logged 10730 so far and hoping to continue!
November 23rd, 2008 at 3:38 pm
This week has been a little slower than last week. Work and life ate up time that I would have rather spent on writing. On the other hand, I am at 29,000 words out of 60,000, so I feel pretty good about that part.
November 23rd, 2008 at 3:59 pm
Things are slow going for me right now. Lots on my plate writing wise, lots on my plate at the full-time job, holidays and home so scrunching in some time to get a few words in is a welcomed respite.
I plowed through another chapter this week and added another 3,158 onto my Singleton story. So I feel pretty good about that. I have to spend some time this week plotting and outlining further as I don’t have a clear vision going just yet. I tend to be more of a fly by the seat of her pants gal.
The upcoming holiday means a couple days off the day job so I night get some words in this weekend too! Happy holidays to all who celebrate
November 23rd, 2008 at 5:53 pm
So far so good - I now have 84 pages, or 25,746 words edited, right where I wanted to be. Now let’s see if I can up the weekly quota a little with some extra time off the day job this week…
November 23rd, 2008 at 5:59 pm
It’s been a slow week and I don’t even know what my totals are. So as far a Sven is concerned I’m still warming up but this coming week will be better.
November 23rd, 2008 at 6:02 pm
Well this week has had ups and downs but I’m roughly where I wanted to be around this time. I’ve not idea on the numbers, since I’ve not worked out the most recent ones. However once I work them out I’ll post them on here.
Well done everyone, even if you’ve only written a word a day you’ve at least written something!
November 23rd, 2008 at 6:13 pm
I did 5000 words since Wednesday, only problem? New project, something that wouldn’t go away long enough for me do work on what I should be working on so I caved and wrote oh and am still writing on it. Maybe by Wed I’ll be back on track!
November 23rd, 2008 at 7:11 pm
3,223 words in the last two days for Irresistable Estate … I know it doesn’t make up for the last week, but hey its a start …
Still typing strong
:winks:
November 23rd, 2008 at 7:21 pm
It was a good week for me. I did 9k on a new book and finished a 5k Christmas novella for my publisher. Yay!
November 23rd, 2008 at 8:08 pm
I missed Wednesday’s sign in for some reason anyway I’m on 26,075 for SVEN and 43,021 for NaNo just 7,000 to go, after that this MS is going in a file and stuck somewhere so I don’t have to think about it for a few months. It is far from finished but I don’t care anymore I’m struggling with the damn thing and need time away from it.
Next week I’m going to start editing the WIP’s I have finished that will carry me through until the end of December, then I’ll think about working on my unfinished projects or even start a new one.
So from here until Wednesday I have 7,000 words to write that’s my goal for the next two or three days.
Sandie
November 23rd, 2008 at 8:26 pm
4.5K for the weekend (and I’m not done yet - late start today…)
For the week, about 8K or so…I need that number to double. Luckily, most of the upcoming writing is with my co-writer, so it will
For everyone who had RL intervene, just keep going…sneak in writing whenever you can. The more you write, the more you want to write…the longer you stay away from it, the harder it can be to pull yourself back…
November 23rd, 2008 at 8:57 pm
Not a great week for me due to health issues with my daughter, but I did manage to bring my total up to 10,928.
November 23rd, 2008 at 9:51 pm
I managed to hit my goal for the day. Well, actually, I surpassed it by 500 so far, with at least an hour of writing left to go before I give in to exhaustion.
So the stats go - 7k since Wednesday, 27k since I started sweating with Sven. Uh, wow.
Hope your daughter feels better, Margay!!
November 23rd, 2008 at 9:52 pm
Doing good! I’m about to attempt three days of 5k cramming so I can take the rest of the week off for Thanksgiving and visiting with family.
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

I only added 3000 words since Wednesday, bringing my Sven total to 12000 so far. But now that I’ve finished another project, I can devote all my writing time to the ms I started with Sven, and I’m planning to kick some butt in the coming weeks.
November 23rd, 2008 at 10:33 pm
Since the Wednesday check in, I’ve written 7,929 words, which puts me at a Sven total of 23,779.
I’m on track to finish NaNo for the first time! And I think I can keep this up to finish the book and start submitting things again. It’s been a rough year. It’s nice to finish it on a high note.
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:45 pm
Progress is going again! I’m now to 17,770 Sven words, so while that’s only about a 2K boost over last check-in, I also now have no other major time sinks to take away what had been allotted as writing time. (I love theater, but it does get in the way of the word count…)
November 23rd, 2008 at 11:59 pm
Paltry 1,402 words since Wednesday.
Sven total = 17,359 words; surpassed goal
NaNo total = 32,207 words; so behind. LOL
I didn’t write on Saturday. Too much work exhausted me plus the dreaded roadblock.
Finally figured why I blocked. This scene involves two of the main characters meeting Keifer Sutherland as Jack Bauer. Yes, the internal editor screamed “Mary Sue!” I finally heard. Guess they don’t now.
I had to take time out to watch “24:Redemption.” Missed Jack for a long time.
November 24th, 2008 at 1:03 am
Missed the last two check-ins, bad of me. Just wanted to say that I’ve managed to surmount the dreaded writer’s block obstacle facing me as I’ve worked on the ending of the 1st round of edits for Aimless Tymes. I’ve completely stalled on the NaNo project although I was doing pretty good at 40k+. Once I’m done with the edits and not dealing with class tomorrow, I should be doing all right.
Anyway, that’s my report. Oh yeah. Thanks HelenKay for letting me know about this happening again!
November 24th, 2008 at 5:35 am
I’m so late with my check-in…oh well. I’ve only written 658 words since the last check-in for a grand total of 6,216. I’m not giving up though.
November 24th, 2008 at 5:58 am
It snowed all weekend, the power was off and on and off again and it was pencil to the notebook when the laptop died on me. The kids thought it was pretty magical (the blizzard, not Mom and quill in candlelight), I only kept thinking of everything thawing in the freezer… It does make the landscape so much brighter, and we spent hours outside taking it all in. And I digress.
Had a Portia kind of week, doing this and that and the third. Yeah, I know the Editing Challenge is down the hall, but I have this must-submit-by month’s-end wager going (= promised myself). So does the synopsis word count count? Besides that, only wrote some 2,580 words on the new novellas, but had a new story creep up on me, so it was pencil to the notebook again at 5 A.M. Now those must count, just haven’t counted them yet.
Have a creative week everyone!
November 24th, 2008 at 7:35 am
Okay my brain just isn’t remember to do check ins on time. I got 3522 last week (and a whole load of reading done). It’s not as high as I would like, but it’s slow and steady, and given everything on my plate for a while, I’m happy with that.
November 24th, 2008 at 8:18 am
I did about 8000 words this week. Not bad but not my goal. Then again I was still sick all week. I’m finally over the hump on this cold and bronchitis, so I expect the word count to pick up. Except this week is Thanksgiving and I know there’ll be a couple days when I don’t write at all. Gah.
Some of you are rocking the word count - Congratulations! Keep it up! Those of you who are struggling, don’t worry about it. Slow and steady is just as good. Just get something done. Even a little is better than nothing at all.
November 24th, 2008 at 10:43 am
Thanks Diane and Jen P
Margay, I hope your daughter is doing better. *hugs*
Everyone is doing great! Good luck this week. I wish you all the best and look forward to Wednesday. This will be the first time I beat NaNo and actually complete Sven!!!
November 24th, 2008 at 12:25 pm
I took two days off on Friday and Saturday so my Sven total is at 13k. Not bad, but it definitely isn’t where I want to be.
November 24th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
Since Wednesday, I wrote 4500 words, bringing my week total to 10500 K and my Sven total to 20500 K. I’m pretty darn happy with that. I’m trying to meet my 1 K a day goal.
November 24th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
I don’t write on weekends and I almost forgot about check in. For the past week, I wrote 19,390.
