I’m at 57,800. I’ll beat Sven for sure - the story’ll be 70k definitely, minimum, and I’m thrilled. I’m hoping to get the whole thing out in time for the end of Sven but very soon thereafter if not. :) I had another 5k day yesterday.

I’m thrilled to be triumphantly finishing a novel. The last two that were “completed” I slunk across the finish line tail between my legs. The last one technically wasn’t quite done and I just hi-sped it through some scenes and slapped on the ending. And I have tons of starts and stops projects in between the “completed” novels, so to be ending a novel that I think is VERY solid, ending on a high note, with a plan of attack for revisions and submission…. I feel like I’ve arrived, somehow, in my mind. It makes me a ton more confident for the next one, too.

I think I’ll be able to finish at least the first draft so to speak, of Mending Terilee. Will it be ready for submission? Uh no. I squirreled around with it, and found some continuity oopsies, so I’m still working my way through it. Best guess of what word count it’ll be is 130k, I know its already over 100k as is.

On another note, I’ve a story that is going to be short and sweet, around 20k and almost finished putting it together if I get the oomph to finish it. ^_^

How goes the rest of ya?

  3. deniz Says:

1000 words a day all week - two days down already!

  4. Merry Says:

Well, I’m not going to beat Sven but I am going to beat my last effort and, if all goes to plan, get my second draft/ edit of the novella done.

    I’m pleased. ^O_O^

  5. Jerri Says:

I met my personal goal and have finished a book and started another. I’m happy with what I’ve done in the challenge. This was my first sweating with Sven. It’s definitely given me the motivation to write everyday no matter what is going on in my life–something I had a real problem with before. Thank you!

  6. Portia Da Costa Says:

I’ve not done so great in this round of Sven… I’d say circumstances have been against me, but that’s just making excuses. :(

  7. Jaci Says:

This week so far I had edits for a book given to me on Monday, so I worked on those all day. Other than that, about 3K for the week so far. Time to dig into the book again and make some progress. For Sven in total, I’m at 83K, a proposal written, one single title completed, a novella written, and a single title in the works, so Sven rocks. :-)

  8. Erin Kendall Says:

I hit 60k, and then some in the beginning of this week! I might, if I play my cards right, finish my book before we’re done sweating.

This has been really, really good for me. :D

    Cheers,
    EK

  9. Nayad Monroe Says:

I had a slow weekend, but I’m up to a total of 57,600 words. I’m going to push for 70,000 by the end!

  10. Jess Says:

It’s still Wednesday - had to update - I wrote 3k today, so I have 60,900 now!! :) I “beat” Sven’s minimum, although my own goal is the end of the novel which is about 10k away. :)

  11. Nicole Gestalt Says:

Well I’ve not finished writing for today, however I did a rough count up this morning and I’m about 7k short of 60k. However that is very rough and I think it’s a bit less then that so I’ll be hitting 60k before the end that’s for sure!

Off to work on another wip now.

    Hope everyone’s having fun!

  12. Sandie Hudson Says:

I’m plodding along each day getting at least a little done. I’m at 50,211 for Sven plus for the last fortnight I’ve been judging a comp so I’m happy with this weeks progress. I’m getting about 1,200 words a day down, I should reach my target although it hasn’t all been on one novel. I really have to stop adding novels to my WIP. LOL. I had 5 at one stage now I have 12.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop these people from jumping into your head? Mine is getting pretty crowded.

Good luck with the rest of the week everyone.

    Hugs
    Sandie

3000 wds since Sunday. I’m going to fall far short of my goal for this challenge. You’d think with my paltry word count I’d be glad to see the (attractive) tail end of Sven, but I’ll miss him.

  14. Jennette Says:

It’s done!!! I can’t believe it - I just typed “The End.” Yes, I always type it in even though I take it out before subbing. Nothing beats that feeling, y’know?

Although my book came out 10k shorter than I expected, that’s not a bad thing, as I usually have the opposite problem. I also tend to layer in details and emotion in the revisions - yep, the real work’s just beginning!

I honestly did not think I could write this much while working my full-time day job. Big thanks to Sven and all the sponsors for the kick in the tail! This challenge has been awesome!

  15. Darillian (J. Carter) Says:

Ugh. Only 1157 since I checked in last week. I’ve had tons of visitors, stuff to do for doctor appointments, etc. And I got off my groove of writing every day a couple weeks ago and haven’t been able to get back on. *sigh*

Doctor appointments all day tomorrow, PT on Friday, and kid and family stuff this weekend scheduled. I doubt if I get any words done for the rest of this challenge (which I have failed in the stated count but succeeded in getting much further in my WIP ).

We’ll see. But I plan to get some words down the rest of this round anyway, even if not lots. And then I get to start over, right? :)

  16. Joely Says:

Over 7K since Sunday, bringing my total to 81179. I’m not close to finishing the draft, though, so I’ll keep banging away at it through the end of May.

  17. Diane J Standiford Says:

This pushed me to finish something I’d put off for years. Now I wait for court documents to clean up and keep from being sued. It is so exciting. It has been easy at first, then very hard with illness and family problems, but I completed more than I ever dreamed I could. Thank you.

  18. Maria Says:

I hit 100k today. Just 5k more and I’ll hit my goal! Not sure if I’ll have this rough draft finished by the end of the challenge. If not, it’ll be close.

  19. Jen P Says:

    Go Jess! You’re amazing! :-)

I’ve finally gotten back to revising whenever possible (and not getting many new words). Which means I’m not going to dilly-dally commenting here!

  20. Jean T. Says:

I seem to keep losing track of time and getting distracted. I’m only up to 12k for this story, far from my goal of 70k, but still more then I managed before. Guilt is a surprisingly good motivator. I’m still here and still working, just very slowly. ^^
