April 23rd - Wednesday Check In
It’s the middle of the week. Lots of stuff to do. But are you writing…? Tell Sven about those projects.

Since Monday, revised nine chapters from WIP and started to world-build for another project.
Hope everyone’s doing great.

I’m at 60 pages or so and that means 40k+ which isn’t too bad considering I’m at work nowadays. Of course after Thurs, I’ll be at loose ends again. I’m doing good.

Working on my rewrite, and doing well: approx. 11,000 more words since Sunday’s check-in.
Rock on, everyone!

No real writing in 2 and a half weeks, but I have been madly plotting this rewrite and adding lots of stuff to my Google Notebooks for both TD and HOC. It means a lot of reimagining, which isn’t a bad thing, necessarily other than I want to actually write again. I did figure out how to better frame my hero in HOC. I do admit to having some doubts about rewriting this book yet AGAIN…it’s been done so many times and at some point I have to decide it’s good enough. But it’s not there yet. I suppose nothing is lost so long as I learn something new every time I do it.

For once I’m not shy to check in! I’ve been editing every day since Friday, very exciting - I hope to print a whole new draft by Friday and then start writing some more, to fill in the scenes that are *still* missing!

So, since Sunday’s check-in, I’ve written almost 7k. That’s more than my weekly goal, and it’s only Wednesday! Woohoo! My total for Sven is now 32100. Chugging right along. And I have off today. I already did my 1k this morning. I have to run to the bank, but first, another scene, perhaps? mwahaha.

Slow start to the week…only 2000 words, but I’m hoping to regroup and really push it the remainder of the week and hit my weekly goal.
April 23rd, 2008 at 9:33 am
I’m nearing the end - I passed the 100k mark today! Only a few more days’ worth of writing, and the book will be done.

Up 3,000 on side project but main project suffered a blow and I had to go back to work out the kinks (no literally) So not so bad on the rough draft. Plus I will be submitting the side project by May 1st so at least one goal was met!

Still working on checking page proofs here!
April 23rd, 2008 at 12:21 pm
I’ve written a little over 4k since Sunday. I seem to be matching my earlier pace. Hopefully I can knock out this novel by the end of the challenge.
April 23rd, 2008 at 1:48 pm
I’ve beat Sven. I set a goal of 75. With 25k done on the first project and now 50k on the fresh project I started with Sven I am done. Well, I’ll just keep chugging.
Since Sven has started I have completed 75,000 words. YAY!!!
Second project isn’t done yet, so I’ll keep chugging.

Not much done up until Sunday. RT really threw me off schedule. I thought I’d have time to get something done, but I thought wrong.
However, I’ve gotten 11k done since Sunday and I’m past the mid way part of the novella I’m putting together for EC and the other WIPS are moving along nicely.

I had a long weekend away last weekend and it’s Anzac weekend from tomorrow, which means family visiting. Plus I did a double shift at work when a colleague was off sick. I don’t think I’ll make my original target of 100k by the end of the challenge but I’m up to 67,529 words, which isn’t bad, all things considered
April 23rd, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Up to 50,890 words for Sven III. I was really hoping to finish the first draft of Road for this phase, but I might not make it. (Road is looking to be 80-100K.)
April 23rd, 2008 at 5:45 pm
Up to 51k for Sven. The rewrite is going well, and the side project, a contemporary romance, is literally writing itself.
This is the most I’ve done in 2 months in ages.
Congrats on your progress everyone, and hang in there!
Cheers,
EK

Have taken the last two weeks off from writing new words. Had too many distractions and interruptions, and also prepped a synopsis and the first twenty pages for submission to a contest. Just about to send it off, so I feel pretty good about that.
Also managed to edit the last chapter as I reread it before starting new word progress, and it is improved. So, though word count is not up, and I likely won’t make the challenge limit of 60000 words, I am okay with that. I am happy with what I’ve done and am making progress.

The latest project is going well even though I had to split it into two files so I could work on each separate section individually. I’ve got 39 pages for one file - featuring twins Foxtrot and Rox Kitsch, and more to come about them. I’m almost at 39 pages for the 2nd file which is about the twins’ mother, father (truly nasty over-the-top villain), and a few others. I’m at roughly 50k+ in word count.
Chugging along, but so far haven’t felt comfortable writing intimacy for the adults’s part, so I’m figuring this’ll be more action/adventure than anything else.
April 24th, 2008 at 3:33 am
I’ve transcribed just under 13K (adding 5K of new material) so although it looks as though I’m doing well its c. 13K of 31K now rather than 13K of 26K.
But it is progress and I am happy, so that’s good!

Had an up and down week. I got some character charts done, my characters decided to play nice. I had two days out with migraine, well one with the migraine and one getting over the darn thing.
So hoping to have a better end to the week. Catch ya later.
Hugs

really late checking in ! The past 10 days have been full of emotional energy-sappers, but I finally got back into the swing of things yesterday (I hated thinking I’d miss yet another check-in). I finished chapter 8 (finally–the guy’s she’s with is not the hero, and writing their scenes is like pulling teeth), and am 2 pages into chapter 9. I didn’t think I’d actually finish the book with Sven; the initial goal was for August, and I think I’ll meet that one. Have a great week everyone!

I completely forgot check-in yesterday! But I did do my writing. Up to 61k right now, so I’m happy with that.
