Wow, am I first?
I’ve done well — written 6,252 words since Wednesday and done quite a bit of tweaking and reworking of the story. It’s developing as I’m writing it, in quite unexpected ways. Anyhow, I’m pleased with how it’s going, and I’m currently sitting at 53,154 words!
April 2nd, 2008 at 1:54 am
Crud — I said I’d “written 6,252 words since Wednesday” — I meant to say, “since Sunday!” ACK!
April 2nd, 2008 at 2:10 am
I’m still not doing well. In fact I’m not ‘doing’ at all. The challenge is officially a washout for me.
April 2nd, 2008 at 2:46 am
*hugs* Portia. Sprawling on the couch with a book or 3 usually gets me back to writing, if that’s any help?
Reading someone else’s world often makes me want to get back into one of mine.
I’ve written about 1k since Sunday. Other Half’s shift and The Lurgy meant I’ve written little on either Monday or Tuesday. It could also be I’ve been told that I’ll back on a sub this week. That always distracts me, lol Hopefully, I’ll get back into my wips this afternoon.

25,356 words total for me. It’s going pretty damn well.
Cheers,
EK

13,000 words total. I haven’t had a lot of time lately. My wedding is less than two months away (plan, plan, plan!), and I just started a new job. I’m in a happy place, but the only writing I’ve been doing lately is thank you notes. Can I count those?
April 2nd, 2008 at 7:19 am
I’ve made it halfway through my outline, and am at 64,000 words (this book is going to need some trimming in the second draft). I’ve also gotten some editing done on last near’s NaNo project, and have my next project almost entirely plotted out. So I’d say things have been going well. I’m still not feeling as inspired as I’d like, though.

After a month of writing, I’ve got a better idea of where I need to be going with the WIP. I am considering a start over with the word count. With 40+ days left, I think I can still meet the deadline since my rough only needs to be 60K.
April 2nd, 2008 at 7:55 am
I feel guilty checking in when I haven’t done much. So, erm, congrats to those of you that are forging ahead!
April 2nd, 2008 at 7:56 am
I’ve been a slacker about reporting to check-in but I’m happy to say I’m at 60,505 words. That being said my hands feel like their about to fall off into the floor. It makes we wonder how many calories I’ve burned in order to get to my current word count. If not calories, I know my arms are burning!
April 2nd, 2008 at 8:12 am
I’ve written between 5 and 6,000 words since Sunday. I think I am getting a cold and I am going away this weekend so this weeks gonna suck for me.
April 2nd, 2008 at 8:34 am
As I said on the last check-in, revisions came for one of my books so I’ve been knee deep on working on those. I’ve done 200 pages so far so that’s going very well. Last night (since I can only sit at the table and do revisions for so long on hard copy. Bleh.) I did a little writing on the next project. So 1500 words added to new writing. This week’s going well.
Overall since Sven started, over 50K and a finished book!

*hugs* to Portia, Deniz, and Amy.
I’ve been pretty sick the past few days, but I did manage to curl up with some paper and write a decent number of pages longhand. It was good, and I came up with more of a plotline to boot! So at this point, my word count is dramatically wrong, so I won’t even bother with it.
Keep up the good work, my fellow sweaters!
April 2nd, 2008 at 9:28 am
No new words since Sunday, but I do have a basic three page outline now that includes the shift my characters seemed so determined to have. So, once I clear my desk of the crafting project I started last night I’ll dig back into the work of putting words to paper.
Here’s hoping now that I have a better idea of where this story is going I’ll be closer to my daily 1000 word goal.
April 2nd, 2008 at 10:47 am
6,700 words since Sunday! If I can keep up this pace, I’ll have the rough draft of my third demon book done by the end of the month!
And big hugs to those who are not doing so well — it happens. Don’t beat yourself up! There’s plenty of time to get going again!
April 2nd, 2008 at 10:52 am
Still moving along–total since I start just a little over 35,000 words. I’m thrilled that I’ve found a routine and that I’m sticking to it. I’ve had days that I’ve struggled but this challenge has really pushed me to keep writing even when I didn’t want to.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:23 am
No words since Sunday, but I’ve made some adjustments to the backstory that will make it easier for my detectives to uncover the killer. That’s a good thing, but it shouldn’t have taken four days!
I’m glad that others are doing so well!
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:58 am
I finally managed to work out the problems with my new novel’s beginning. Thank goodness! As for the challenge, I’m sitting at 53k.
April 2nd, 2008 at 12:09 pm
I’m up to about 36K. I’ve been sick and it’s driving me nuts and I’m out of the flow a bit and trying to get back into it so that it will sweep me up and on. Calgon! Take me away!
At least I haven’t napped (yet) today. The past few days I’ve napped a lot and had bouts of nausea and headaches and blah blah blah. I’m done with it! I’ve decided!

I’ve been doing pretty well, actually. I’m 60% through my first draft, and that word count is slowly moving up! I think officially I’ve added around 3,000 words since I started Sven, mainly because of all the editing and cutting I had to do to move on.
But, it’s moving! That’s the positive I need to keep!
April 2nd, 2008 at 1:07 pm
Broke 45k last night and finished one of my WiPs, which ended up just over 70k. I’d wanted to finish that by the start of March but RL wasn’t having it so I’m ecstatic to have it finished now!
*hugs* to Portia. Every little bit helps, though
And congrats to Laura on the upcoming wedding and the new job. Dunno if I could concentrate on writing if I was getting married soon!
April 2nd, 2008 at 1:45 pm
Doing better…about 7k since last week.
April 2nd, 2008 at 2:05 pm
Not doing so well this week. But I will keep trying.
April 2nd, 2008 at 7:33 pm
Apart from some fires that needed putting out on the home front, it’s been a good week so far. I’m feeling more confident than last week and more hopeful that I’ll sweat out the WIP by end of Sven.
April 2nd, 2008 at 7:52 pm
Now that I’ve finished up with revisions and edits, I’ve been able to write this week so yay! I haven’t done my writing for today yet (I write at night after the kids go down) but as of yesterday I’m up 7500 since Sunday so I’m very happy.
Those who are struggling, it’s early days yet, don’t lose hope!
April 2nd, 2008 at 7:58 pm
Forgot to report in on Sunday, but I’m now up to 35,000 words. A couple thousand short of where I want to be, but the family had a lot going on last weekend so I expected that. Trying to make it up this week!
April 2nd, 2008 at 8:52 pm
Nothing new to report. Still not writing much, although I have written five page in long hand for a new story that came to me the other night. Like I din’t have enough WIP going on, but these two just would not shut-up until I’d written down the basic for their story. So that’s is something I guess. I’ve also been doing more reseach into my historical I want to write in November.
Hope to have more to report on Sunday. Good luck with the rest of the week everyone.
Hugs
Sandie

I’m behind all around. I made an 8500 word cut over the weekend, and I missed writing yesterday entirely. I’m at 2184/7000 for the week. Overall I’m about 10 days off schedule. But finals are next week for my online class, so that’s less grading for me in a couple of weeks, and hopefully I’ll catch up then.
April 2nd, 2008 at 9:32 pm
Chapter 7 keeps stretching itself out, but it’s going well and I hope to have it done tonight or tomorrow–but since we’re going away this weekend, I have to clean, run errands, etc., so it might not happen until Saturday. I am really going to have to work on my timeline and stretch a few things out a bit to make them more realistic, or else make the book a bit shorter. I know I won’t finish during this challenge, but I am so happy with my progress. I have never finished anything I’ve started writing (that wasn’t for a class), but I know that I will finish this one (Lord willing!), hopefully by June or July.
April 2nd, 2008 at 10:06 pm
My total’s at 28,689. I did our taxes last night and just couldn’t drag myself up this morning dark and early to write. I also have the first pass of editor revisions on a full-length novel to get through by Monday, so my count may suffer the rest of the week.
April 2nd, 2008 at 11:08 pm
Welll…trying to figure out where my word count is since I’m scattered over 4-6 projects. I’m guessing its about at 40k of new, rather than anything added to a larger total. Meh, do better by Sun I hope.
April 3rd, 2008 at 6:50 am
Not much to report… 1600 words since the last check-in. I have high hopes for the weekend though. The new story is demanding to be set free but I just haven’t had time to write!
April 3rd, 2008 at 11:29 am
I wrote 2k yesterday to FINALLY break 15,000 on my story, total.
April 3rd, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Knee deep in galleys here, no forward progress on word count since Sunday. Soon, hopefully!
April 3rd, 2008 at 6:06 pm
I forgot about check in
I won’t count last nights to keep it even, since Sunday I wrote approx. 3,000 words. Not bad for me, since last week was a wash. LOL
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:46 pm
I didn’t get much done before this week, but today (I know, Thursday isn’t before Wednesday but bear with me) I spent 3 hours revising. Yeah!
April 4th, 2008 at 7:54 am
Late to check in, I know, but I have been contemplating a rewrite of my first book because the query process is not going that well. V. frustrating.
April 4th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
Ugh! The days start running together. I thought I’d checked in already, but apparently I didn’t. It’s slow going, but at least it’s going.
April 6th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
Better this week–should hit 30K goal by Monday…
