Are you up for round three?

Okay folks. Who’s ready for a third round?

Got a deadline about ready to bite you on the tail?

Need a kick to help jumpstart a stalled WIP?

70 Days of Sweat Round 3 will start on March 1. The sponsors, Diana Peterfreund, HelenKay Dimon, Jaci Burton, Larissa Ione, Lauren Dane, Portia Da Costa, and Shiloh Walker invite you to join in.

Basically, 70 Days of Sweat is designed to challenge (naturally), support, and encourage those of us crazy enough to write a book in 70 days. At the end, we’re looking for a word count between 60-100K. We’ve built an extra week into this round, so technically you have 77 days to sweat meaning . . . Round 3 will run from March 1 to May 16.

The original post from Round 1 can be found here. If this is your first time to play, read that, then come back here and sign up!

Heaven help me but I’ll try again……

  2. Fionn Jameson Says:

Hahah! This time I will have NO excuse not to finish!

  3. Amanda Freeman Says:

Goals: Hmmm. It depends on what I finish in February. I think I’ll plot my next novel for Sven and work on the Revisions for the one I’m working on.

Too many ideas to figure out what I want to do next right now while I’m working on two ideas. I’ll get back to you on the project.

  4. Nicole Reising Says:

    Hello Everyone!

I thought I’d not do it this time because of the added pressure and I’ve been writing everyday as it is… but I just so do love a challenge! =) Count me in.

    Cole

  5. Dawn Montgomery Says:

My Goals. I want to complete Four novellas. That puts me a little past 80K for a goal. Good luck all! And thanks for the two weeks prep!

  6. Kim Knox Says:

Yay, It’s back. I have about 6 wips to finish again.

  7. AJ O'Donovan Says:

damn it wiped my comment….Ok i’m in but i’m insane as i flunked out on number 2. Goals to come.

  8. Larissa Ione Says:

I’ll have two books to write during this challenge - the fourth Sydney Croft book and my third Demonica book. The Croft one is due in May, so it’s the priority, but my goal is still to try to get 500 - 1000 words a day on the Demonica novel.

  9. Anna Adams Says:

I’m so glad you’re back, Sven! I have a deadline at the end of this month, so my goal for this round is to do two proposals for Superromance and then write like crazy on another idea I’ve been working on for something “completely different.”

Thanks to all the sponsors for doing this again!

  10. marissa scott Says:

I’m so ready. I just started a new WIP and just started keeping an accountability log, so this will be a HUGE help to me. Give me a kick in the pants when I need it. Thanks to all of you for doing this! :-)

  11. Diana Peterfreund Says:

Welcome, everyone! I’m so pumped about this challenge!

I have a book due on March 17th, so I’m jumping in with both feet. I’ve been working on it for some time, but it needs to be done in a month! Ack!

    Best of luck to everyone!

  14. Jaci Burton Says:

Hey everyone! So glad to see people coming back!

I have 3 books due before July, so I’m going to be writing my a$$ off!

One is due May 1st, two are due July 1st. Don’t ask me why my schedule is like this. Just send chocolate. And Sven. ;-)

  15. Kerry Allen Says:

My goal would be a second draft of the WIP, bringing it up to around 90,000 words, and I’d like to finish another weird thing I’ve started, which I’m estimating will be around 60,000.

Seeing 150,000 as a goal makes me queasy, but since I’m not starting from 0 on either project, it might be possible.

  16. Annie Gray Says:

    Hi Everyone!
I’m ready to try again. And this time I’m going to make my goal!
    Total goal is 70,000 words
    Daily goal 1000
    Best of luck to everyone!

  17. Cynthia Says:

I’m in, God help me. My goal this time, to get unstuck from the last time I did this. Still digging out from the November writer’s block so I’m not sure which wip I’ll be tackling for what the word count is but I’ll figure it out.

  18. Jess Says:

Ohh! I was waiting for this! I really kick-started my WiP last month after SvenII ended (ha, I was feeling rebellious), and SvenIII will be just the challenge I need to finish it if I don’t get that done this month. Or if I do, there is that second WiP waiting in the wings… let’s say my goal is a 70K word-count and let it at that, hmm? :D

  19. Heather Harper Says:

Sign me up. March 1 is perfect! I should have all my pre-writing and gathering organized by then. :)

  20. Lonnie Says:

I’m in. I’ve got a WIP that is just getting going and I know I can finish it by then. I guess a total word count of about 70K is about right, since this is about the length of my other books. I’ve never done this, but I’m diving in. March 1. Yay.

  21. Carrie Lofty Says:

Hmmm. March 1. I have a WIP due March 15 which needs revisions. I hope to have them finished up (mostly) by the start of Sven three. Then I’m working on a sci-fi romance called Onyx, no deadline. I should have the rough draft done (90K) in that 70 days.

  22. Michelle (MG) Says:

I desperately need Sven. Nothing else seems to work. LOL I need to write again. I’m in! :-D

  23. Carrie Ryan Says:

Hey y’all! I’ve wanted to do this every round but it’s never been the right time (edits, submissions, etc). Finally I get to participate and it’s perfect timing! My goal is to write my second book under contract, a continuation of my 2009 debut. I might cheat and start sweating a little early…

  24. Julie Leto Says:

Perfect timing for me, too! I should be done with revisions then and about to start my next book. Yeah, Sven! Thanks to all the organizers/sponsors!!

  25. Ryan King Says:

Deadlines set on your own just doesn’t work. I’m sure that Sven can get me going. I can certainly afford to sweat a little! I can’t wait :)

  26. Cynthia Eden Says:

I am so looking forward to this! I want to finish a novella (120 more pages) and write a novel (three chapters are done, so that leaves about…380 pages to go). This is really great timing!! Thanks to the sponsors!!

  27. Shiloh Walker Says:

I’m in… two books I want to get done,

Chains, sitting at or around 20K now and needs to be 90-100k

and a novella for EC, working title is VV, and I’ve only got… uh.. 2k? Heh.

  28. Lauren Dane Says:

I’m in! I’ve got a novella, a category and a single title due by May 15 so I need to get those done!

  29. Terra Says:

I’ll give this one a try and see if I can’t get someone on 2 of my novellas. I want to be in goal range 60-100k would be really nice.

  30. Portia Da Costa Says:

Hi guys! Are you all ready to rock?

I think part of the time I’ll be doing editing rather than actual new words… but it’s still a creative writerly endeavour, innit? :)

  31. Elizabeth Says:

    I’m in.

  32. mary beth Says:

Perfect timing. I’m working on a new book, and I need a kick to get me started.

  33. Joely Says:

Woo-hoo, I’m in! And this time I actually have a deadline I’ve committed to, and the timing is perfect. Book 2 in a series from scratch starting March 1st….

  34. Sandy l Says:

My goals: to write at least 5 pages a day. The reality, I’ll probably type 3 pages a day. But mostly just to keep the habit of writing. Every time I do around, I learn something. In the end, it may not be pretty, but I hope to have a better page count.

  35. Karen Erickson Says:

I’m so in! I have a category length to finish as well as a full length. I also wanted to get one novella done in the next couple of months too. Yikes! I’m nuts. But yay! I love Sven! :)

Thank you sponsors for doing this again!

  36. DawnMontgomery.com » Blog Archive » Who’s up for Round 3? Says:

[…] the damn book mode?  Sven is there.  His glistening body will guide you in the craziness that is 70 days of Sweat.  Trust me.  He’ll whip you into shape in no time.  Go check it out and see for […]

  37. Zoe Says:

I’d like to join in this time around. I’m not writing romance though; is that still acceptable?

  38. Kelly Maher Says:

Editing yourself, it’s a good thing. Yes, I’m in. My goal: two related 30-35K short novels.

  39. Cat Kane Says:

I only found out about this as round two was ending, so I’ve been watching ever since to get in on round three! I always need a challenge or a deadline to keep me from slacking off, so I’m hoping this one’ll be a big help!

Between several WIPs that I want to finish, a couple of things that need editing, and one brand spankin’ new idea, I’m aiming for about 80k.

  40. Megan Hart Says:

I have one tiny imminent deadline and two longer term, not immensely looming deadlines, and I don’t ever/have never done any of these challenge-type things before but heck. If I don’t have a deadline pushing on me, I might as well make myself one.

I’ll sweat with Sven. I’m not particularly competitive, though, and I pretty much kick my own butt into gear, but hey. I thought I’d give this a try. :)

    M

  41. Rachel C Says:

Okay, second time signing up but this time I’ll make it worth having my name on the page. No goals yet, just finishing up on Jan/Feb goal. Almost done! Could go one of two ways, new piece (have some ideas already) or edit old piece that truly su*** but is basically a good idea. Re-write? Hmm…
I have just been given by my sweety a brand new PC so having this little breather before we actually start will be good. I’m scared of new tech stuff and I’ve got to adjust to vista and word 2007 before March 1!
‘See’ you all in the coming weeks. And a big thank you to all the sponsors and all the participants.
    Good luck everyone.

  42. Lori Says:

I’m in, though my goal will be to revise one WIP, do a second draft on another, and possibly start a third if I make good progress. Whew! That should keep me busy.

  43. Kristi Says:

I’m in! I stalled out about 3 weeks in to the last one because of other things…but I’ve been working on clearing up my schedule and I’m freeing up some time.. So, could me in… My Goal: complete one manuscript (which is currently in the beginning stages with about 2 chapters in revision stage). So, right around 80K words.

    Yikes…did I just write that?

  44. Dawn Montgomery Says:

Zoe, definitely! The goal is to meet/exceed your personal writing challenge.

  45. Ann Says:

What the heck, I’ll give it a try. Again. I’m still writing, sporadically but I’m writing (and the dayjob is giving me fits). And since it finishes before the summer reading programs start (I’ve got three of them), maybe I can finish. :)

  46. Xidu Says:

I discovered this too late to join in the last round so I’m excited it’s back! I have one book to finish and another to start, so I’m aiming for about 100k overall, give or take a couple of thousand either side. Of course I’m waiting on a promotion at work which will take effect in March and mean I have less writing time, but I’ll try my best!

  47. Lisa Hendrix Says:

I just discovered Sven yesterday, thanks to Allison Kent’s post over at PlotMonkeys. Looking forward to the challenge. I’m terribly externally motivated and this should be really good–especially since I’m writing about Norsemen!

  48. Lauren Says:

I want to get in the habit of writing again, because it’s been so long. I have an idea I’ve wanted to put into writing for a very long time, and this is my chance! 70 days certainly sounds manageable. My schedule’s really busy, but there is no time like the present, here and now…

  49. Lisa Hendrix Says:

    OKay, here are the particulars:

    Title: Immortal Outlaw
    Word Count: 95-100,000
    Words per Day Target: 1,300

However, I’m going to get a running start–I have to get my proposal out the door– so the actual daily target for the challenge will change. Will post update here on Feb 28.

Now, how do we get the snazzy Sven widget for our blogs? I tried signing up at Mr. Linky, but there doesn’t seem to be a Sven widget available on the list. What am I missing?

  50. Merry Says:

    I’m in!
I didn’t do too badly last time. This time I’m aiming for the full 60K.

    Targets:

    Short 1 - 15K
    Short 2 - 20K
    Novelette - 30K

Plus editing the short I’m working on now.
I have more confidence this time because for the past month I’ve been writing practically every week-day (during my lunchbreak) and this is the most consistent I’ve been in a long time. So I’m on a roll and feeling more positive about it all!

  51. Meagan Hatfield Says:

All right, I am ready for Sven this time. *pushed up sleeves* I’ll be working on a new novel by the start date and will post info later after I decide which project to pick. ;-)

    Good luck, everyone!!

  52. Shayla Kersten Says:

    My first time with Sven!

The plan is a 20k short and a 50k novel. I’ve been in a rut. I’m hoping this pulls me out of it.

    Good luck to all!

  53. Nicole Gestalt Says:

I’m in, although as for goals I’m not currently sure. I’m going to have to go away and have a think about it for a few days then get back to you :) I do know I would like to have some short stories done but I’m not sure what deadlines I have coming up which will dictate what I write.

Good luck all! Can’t wait for March 1st now.

  54. Emma Petersen Says:

    My goals:
1 novella and one single title. This may change. :D Yeah! Sven’s back! I heart Sven.

  55. Diana Pharaoh Francis Says:

I’m in. I’ve got a deadline in June for The Turning Tide. It will be nice to share the sweat. So to speak.

    Di

  56. Trybble (aka Wayne) Says:

I’m in too. I got busy at work and haven’t written a word in over a month. {eek} The crunch is over and a March first start date will let me catch up on the stuff I’ve been neglecting since then.

    Thanks for organizing another round.

    Take care………………Wayne

  57. Krista Says:

    Get 70K of new material.

I also want to start the revision process on Fallen Angel during this session. ~gulp!~

  58. Thom Allen Says:

Thanks to Diana Pharaoh for pointing me here. I’m excited to make this happen. It’s exactly what I need; a deadline. I’m sweating already.

  59. Kristine Smith Says:

I was pointed in this direction by Diana Pharaoh Francis. I would really like to get all or most of the wip (supernatural thriller, due end of year, 100K-120K words) drafted before Wiscon. I have never, ever turned in a book early, and I would love to see if I can manage it.

  60. Lynn Says:

I bombed out in the beginning of round 2, but I’m ready this time! I have two novellas and two shorts I want to work on. That should bring me between 60-70K.

  61. Shina Laris Says:

Goals: To write 100,000 words overall.

    1) Finish my novel at 100K-120K (about 50K-70K more words on it).
    2) Write 30K-50K on a novel-length fic I’ve just started.

    I’m aiming for 1,500 - 2,000 words per day. A lofty goal, but I’ll try! :)

  62. Nina Pierce Says:

Totally intimidated by this, but I really want to try.

    25-30k novella
    start 50-60k novel

My aim is 1500 - 2000 words a day. Fingers crossed. I’m really bad on the weekends. But this is why I’m giving it a try!

  63. Angeleque Ford Says:

    Goals:

    1. Complete 3 Novellas - end goal 25K each
    2. Complete 2 Short Stories - end goal 15K each
    3. Start my next ST novel manuscript - end goal 90K

  64. Amanda Carrell Says:

Count me in to work on two projects.

    1st - 30K
    2nd - 40K

  65. Wylie Kinson Says:

I know so many writers who’ve had great success with this so I’m going to jump on board. I’ve got a lot of rough notes and two false starts on a novel that I fully intend to finish in these crazy 70 days, despite the fact that March break and having the kids at home will probably kill me ;)
    Can’t wait to start!!

  66. Dave Klecha Says:

Came here by way of Kristine Smith’s LJ.

I’d really love to try drafting two novels this year, and I’m already way late on starting the first. So I’d like to have a first draft complete by August, and hopefully this is going to be a good way to pile on the words.

    Bring it on.

  67. Bummble Says:

After doing NaNoWriMo a few times (usually winning, although not finishing the book) it’s time to get a bit more serious.
I’ll be writing the first draft of a novel, aiming for 80.000 words or so - and actually writing the entire story for a change would be nice!

  68. Tammi Albright Says:

Oh Holy Rollers, what have I done? Oh well, I’m sticking with it - even if it gets ugly!

    BTW, thanks, Di Francis!

Ideal goal: 100k and a solid ending.

(I’ve forgotten what the sun looks like anyhow.)

  69. Steve Nagy Says:

This is Masochists Anonymous, right? Ah … I love starting on the first of something.

  70. Steve Nagy Says:

Oh, and as for what I’ll tackle. Either the sequel to the last novel I finished or a fantasy about slavery, colonialism, noble houses and a volcano.

  71. Jen P Says:

Well, here I go again! I failed miserably in Sven’s last challenge and dropped out by the third check-in, but this time I think I can stay with it. *crosses fingers*

    My goals:

    Revise one novel
    Get 30k on the sequel

Not very much (I’m brave, you can tell…). At the moment, I’m thinking that’s about all I will be able to do.

  72. Maria Says:

I’ve followed the prior Sven’s contests on Diana Peterfreund’s blog (one of my uber-faves.) I figured I’d jump in this round since I’m desperate to finish a YA novel that’s suffered a pair of false starts in the last six months. Since I’ve just finished the edits for my next erotic romance with EC I’m free and clear to start something different.

    My goals:

    Write 1500 words/day
    Finish the first draft

  73. Shelley Munro Says:

This is great timing for me. I’d like to write a first draft of a paranormal that’s knocking around inside my head, transfer the idea to paper. I want to write a minimum of 2000 words a day.

  74. Amanda Murphy Says:

I’ve never done this before, but I’m up to challenge.

I hope to finish my mss. for RWA National.

  75. Nik Says:

This is my first time participating. I heard about it last year and was too late to sign up.

    Now to start brainstorming…

  76. Sandie Hudson Says:

I’m in for a second time. I started out great last time but slowly dipped at the end. Okay this time the goal is 800 to 1,000 words per day. Let’s rock and roll. Good luck everyone.
    Hugs
    Sandie

  77. Jack Says:

I’m aiming for 70k or so on a new YA project I’ve been waiting to get the push on. 1k per day, on top of full time work and going back to school? Sounds good to me.

  78. Michelle Willingham Says:

My next book is due in a few months. Eek! Maybe this will help kick me in the pants.

  79. deniz Says:

I knew it! I knew I was checking back here for a reason! I’m so glad there’s a round three starting up - now I can really dig into my rewrites… Thank you!

  80. Kate Scott Says:

Well, I signed up for the last Sweat Challenge, and dropped out after about 2 weeks, lol. Just too much going on to do anything else but that which was required.

But now I’m getting back into the writing groove, and my goal is to finish this book by end of June when baby is due. So I’m hoping this is going to help me like it did in the first round!

  81. Thomma Lyn Says:

WOO HOO! Sven is back, and I’m so excited! :D This is perfect timing — absolutely perfect. I’m in latter-stage revisions of the novel I wrote for the first round of Sven, and I have a new novel I want to write. So here are my goals:

For the remainder of February, before Sweat Round #3 begins: to finish my revisions on House on Bear Branch

    For Sweat Round #3:

    Novel title: Heart’s Chalice
Word count: I’ll shoot for around 100,000 (will be edited down once I revise, after Sweat)
Target word count per day: 1,300

Yippee for Sven! I’m ready to ROCK!

  82. Saskia Says:

Yay! Thanks to Sven and to the lovely sponsors, your timing is perfect. :-)

  83. Anna Says:

I’m very excited about this. I tried to write this novel during NaNoWriMo, but I was moving to New York and looking for a new place and starting a new job and excuses excuses I didn’t finish. This time I’m settled and ready to go. Or, I will be by March. Excitement!

  84. Sean Robinson Says:

Who knows if im actually up for this or not. but this is my last semester in college, and i’ve got (barely) three classes that require almost no work. Still waiting on MFA grad application decisions, but im not holding my breath.

    Should be fun..

  85. Auria Cortes Says:

I hope I’m reading this right. This challenge includes those of us who have a stalled WIP, correct? Because that is the project I’ll be working on. If I’m mistaken, please let me know.

  86. Kim Brien Says:

I did NaNo in November. I’m still not finished writing that.

But there’s that old story still in my head and I need some sort of deadline to keep me focused. I have to finish it now that I have all this new inspiration for it.

So 14 days to work on the NaNo story and then I’ll go back to the old story.

    1000 words a day for a 70K total.

  87. Jennette Says:

I need this, and the timing’s perfect, so count me in! It works as two deadlines for me - finish the outlining by March 1st, so I can get right to the writing when the challenge begins. I’m looking to write an 85k first draft. I’ve written more in 11 weeks before, but that was when I was between jobs. Thanks to all the sponsors for this much-needed kick in the pants!

  88. Trisha P Says:

Okay I in. I dropped out early on but plan to finish my WIP that I started in
round 2. This is the perfect time and I am excited!!

  89. Maggie Nash Says:

I didn’t finish last time, but I did get more forward progress than in a while, so I will give it a go again. The real life issues have calmed down so you never know! I have a story that I want to finish and polish up, and I also need to start a trilogy I have been planning for goodness knows how long :-)

  90. Larissa Ione Says:

Auria, that’s fine! This is about getting yourself in gear and leaping those hurdles. Good luck! :)

  91. Deb Says:

Call me crazy, but what the H. I’m currently editing book one. Plan was to finish by Feb 29. Why not write book 2 starting March 1? Did I mention I was crazy?

    DA

  92. S.J.Bell Says:

I signed up for the first round of SWEAT but fell off the writing wagon. I’m climbing back on for round three. I have about 40,000 words of my 80.000 goal.

  93. Lynn Matherly Says:

Ok, I’m really going to do it this time. I’ve got a personal deadline to meet! I won’t commit to 70,000 words because I don’t need that many, but if I can average 5000/week I’ll be very happy.

  94. Round Three for Sven « Lynn’s Realization of a Dream… Says:

[…] 14, 2008 It’s time for round 3 of Seventy Days of Sweat starting March […]

  95. Lauren Murphy Says:

Ok so I have totaly lost my mind deciding to do this but I have a WIP that I want to polish and sub by the end of March. I think it may end up being around 60k. *gulp* here it goes.

  96. Michelle Hasker Says:

Okay, I have it figured. If it starts march 1st, then I plan to write one of my 20k witches and at least two other novellas (same length). If I succeed, then I will try for a total of 4 novellas written or 80k. But with lots of school stuff and after school stuff and my volunteer work I’m not sure if I’m over reaching yet again.

  97. Lia Morgan Says:

I’m game. So I have 2 weeks to finish my edits and plott. I can do that. Even if I don’t finish, I will have started and that is something.

  98. Laura Says:

I’m not sure what my goal will be yet. Does write a query letter and send to agents count?

For now, let’s say my goal is to write something everyday. Whether it’s a query, agent research, or start of a new MS, whatever. Just do something.

  99. Trudy Says:

I want to get a polished second draft of 65000 wds done in this round
    *gulp*

  100. Trudy Says:

I should have added the details:
    Title: Three Rivers (so far)
    Hero: Xavier
    Heroine: Celene
    Setting: Quebec 1640’s

  101. Audrey Says:

I’m a first-timer and am all in. Looking to complete a WIP that hasn’t been getting the love and attention it deserves! Happy to be on board!

  102. Yvette Says:

This is just what I need at just the right time!

I’ve been on a ‘holiday’ & ‘work’ induced writing hiatus, but that ends NOW!

    Title: Saving Hope
    Hero: Doug Crandall/Police Detective
Heroine: Hope Harris/ DJ/Radio Show Host
    Setting: Shenandoah Valley, Virginia
    Length: 60K

Goal: First Draft in 70 days (or less ;)

Let’s get ready. We CAN do it!

  103. Mechele Armstrong Says:

    Whooo!

Okay, my goals for this challenge are: 1000 words a day, totaling up to 70K. I’d like to write at least two novellas.

  104. Ready for Round 3? « Trivial Pursuits Says:

[…] You can read about the challenge here and sign up here. […]

  105. Stephanie Staton Says:

I am ready to try again. I haven’t accomplish my goal yet but each time I get closer. I am not sure my exact goals yet. It depends on what I get finished between now and then. I do have a WIP that needs a lot of work since I have decided to completely re-do half of it to make it stronger. Sven is just the motivation I need.

  106. renee Says:

Well I’m going to try for this. I didn’t make it past the second week in round 2.

  107. Jayde Marchelle Says:

This will be the first time i’ve caught this starting so i quickly signed up. I have a wip that needs to be finished. I have about 4k words so far but i’m not sure how long in the end, perhaps 50k. Maybe Sven can help whip me into shape on getting writing everyday and then I can work on the series I want to write.

  108. Annmarie McKenna Says:

I need a good swift kick in the butt so I’m going to try this again after failing so miserably the first time around. My goal is to finish a single title, 80K+ book. :) I only need 79,300 more!

  109. jude Says:

Third time’s a charm? My goal is to write more.

  110. Cynthia Says:

I haven’t participated before, but I have a WIP that needs a major kick in the pants. I’d like to have it done by June and I’m SO behind…..looks like this is the perfect opportunity to get my butt in gear!

  111. Jenna Bayley-Burke Says:

The first one…people died on me. The second one…pregnancy issues popped up (thankfully false alarms) But THIS TIME…I will prevail…And end early. This cashes out on my birthday, but girl baby is due the week before, so I have about 60 days to finish this book and draft another. I can do it…I owe it to Sven!

  112. Lorelie Says:

Ok, I’m in. Need a kick in the ass. Work wise, I’ve got a long one of which I have 20k out of 100k and a short paranormal which should be around 15 ~ 20k

  113. Taryn Blackthorne Says:

Oh dear…here I go again. Nano worked for me. Hey, does reworking an existing novel or idea count?

  114. Taryn Blackthorne Says:

    Forgot the goals,
I want to turn my 50k (very rough, have to go back and rework some of the plot, subplots, introduce characters earlier, strengthen a whole bunch of junk…basically I have to revamp the thing) into a 90-100k work. Does this count? If not, I have a bunch of plotting to do on another story idea so I can be ready for March 1st

  115. Joy Renee Says:

i’ve been waiting for this the first two rounds were great motivation and combined with NaNo they taught me several profound things about what works for me and what doesn’t.

focusing on word count tends to dry up the words while engaging creatively with the story, its world and characters daily guarantees the words will come.

for round three, i’m returning to the story world i was working with in round one. my goal is to sweat. sweat plenty. but not sweat it. it’s that which is the real challenge for me

  116. Cassandra Stone Says:

Goodness gracious. I wonder which of my WIPs I should drag out of the proverbial graveyard to work on? I’m a first-timer, but I am quite excited about this. I can’t wait to get started!

And who knows? Maybe this one will actually be worthy of publishing!

  117. Farrah Rochon Says:

This is definitely the kick in the pants I need to get my new WIP done two months before the RWA National Conference, which is my goal. It will be a challenge, since I will be in the thick of promo for my latest release, but that comes with the territory, right? I feel good about this. Can’t wait to start.

  118. Robin L. Rotham Says:

Aliens. They will all be exiting my head — it’s getting entirely too crowded in here.

  119. Tess Harrison Says:

I had to bail last time, but I think I’m a go for this one! Count me in!

  120. Janna Lee Hayes Says:

I’ve got several small projects I want to finish.

  121. Walt Mussell Says:

Anna Adams (#11 on this challenge) talked me into this. When someone with 17 published books gives advice to an unpublished author, the unpublished should listen.

  122. Jerri Says:

This will be my first sweat challenge! I need a push to get 70,000 words written in my new wip.

  123. Betty Says:

Been through a lot and need to refocus. Two books are crying for attention.

  124. Rebecca Airies Says:

I’m in again. I have Making Magic which I want to get at least halfway done and a couple of other halfway finished WIP which I’d like to finish. So my goal for the Sweat is 85-90k.

  125. Jaci Burton’s Muse » Blog Archive » Yes, It’s Friday, Writing Challenge, Shiny Things and Television Says:

[…] all you writers out there, have you signed up for the 70 Day Writing Challenge yet? Come on, Sweat with Sven. You know you want to. I’m one of the sponsors again, along with […]

  126. Kathy Lee Scott Says:

I’m game to see if I can finish my first book and get it closer to ready for mailing to agents in 70 days or so. Better than just thinking about it.

  127. Jean Lauzier Says:

Yay!!! I so need this now!!! I have a deadline of the end of April to get a work finished.

With all the other stuff I do…I so need the push!!!

    Hmmm…a goal…Let’s 1,500 words a day.

  128. Nancy Henderson Says:

This is my first Sven. Wish me luck! I want to finish the draft of “Dreams Of You”.

    Nancy

  129. Janelle Denison Says:

With a deep breath I’m plunging into my first Sven challenge! I’m getting ready to start a new book, and this is perfect timing for me. Good luck everyone!

  130. Margay Says:

Call me crazy, but I’m trying this again!

  131. carly phillips Says:

I blew it last time. I need to do better this time around!

  132. Melissa Lopez Says:

    I’m in!

I’ve got a two proposals, a novella, and a novel to write! Plus anything my co-authorships need done. :) I’m looking forward to the challenge!

    ~Mel

  133. Marsha-Anne Tanksley Says:

I want to write a 300 page category novel.

  134. Kathleen Says:

Count me in! I met my goal for Round 1, fizzled out in Round 2 by trying to switch horses midstream and work on a different project that just wouldn’t leave me alone. For Round 3 I am working on what was SUPPOSED to be the second draft of the novel I finished in Round 1…but it’s turning out to be a completely new book–which is fine. But it’s the story that wouldn’t leave me be during Round 2. It’s in my head and I’m committed! I expect to be around 30k once March 1 hits, which will leave me with 70k to go for my projected 100k total. As I’m already hitting 1k a day most days, this should fit in nicely!

  135. Leila Brown Says:

My goal is to acomplete 3 new novellas in this time. Hopefully the word count will be close to 60K for all three.

    One is targetted to EC
The other two are sequels to books I have at Cobblestone Press.

    Leila Brown

  136. Beth Says:

My WIP is about 10,000 words in and I am procratinating! My bday is May 16 so I will have it done by then and ready to send off!

  137. Amy Ruttan Says:

I did Round 1 succesfully, round two I was in edit hell for two months, I’m ready for Round 3 a fresh start, got three manuscripts I want finished before Nationals. YEEHAW bring it on … yeah I’ve had a lot of coffee this morning.

  138. Trace Says:

Fell spectacularly by the wayside round 2. This time hope to finish a novella and resurrect two other projects. My goal is to write a steady 4 pages a day, every day.
    Good luck to all!

  139. Mari Alwin Says:

I want to finish a novella I have in the works plus start another to kick off a series I want my fellow M authors to take part in! hopefully 1000 a day
If anything I will break my procrastination habit and get something down each day!

  140. AM Riley Says:

I’ve got 50,000 words of a stalled book sitting on my desktop. Half of it needs a rewrite, the other half needs a plot. It’ll probably run 80 to 90 thou when its done. I was spitting out 3000 a day and then I stalled.

  141. Eliza Gayle Says:

I’ve got some killer deadlines ahead of me and need the challenge to keep me on track. I have two novellas that have to be done. 25K and 20K. Then there are two short stories to do at least 10K each. So I am shooting for these four projects for about 70K total.

I can do 1K a day, I know I can. uh huh. lol

  142. Eve LeRieux Says:

I’m looking forward to trying this. I think I will start something brand spanking new so I can get the full benefit of this challenge!

  143. naomi Says:

My first time in, but I hope to finish the book I started during NANOWRIMO and, if I make that goal with time to spare, to give my story of the heart book a huge kick in the pants and get the rough draft finished.

  144. Lacey Savage Says:

I’m here! This couldn’t have come at a better time. :-) I’m starting a new full length novel March 1st, and since I’ve been feeling severely unmotivated lately, I can certainly use the kick in the pants.

  145. Laya D. White Says:

Count me in! I have a WIP that I keep neglecting, so my goal is to have a workable first draft. I don’t have an ending word count goal because I truly don’t know where this project is going to lead, but I will write at least 1,000 each day.

  146. Sadie Says:

I’m in! I have a WIP that I’ve been neglecting sorely (as in I haven’t written ANYTHING yet). It’s about time it came out to play!! I have set myself a 1500 wpd goal.

  147. Greta Wheeler Says:

I have decided to attempt a life-time dream of being an author. I’ll never know unless I try.

  148. Lousa Says:

This is my second try. Hope second time’s a charm because I failed last time. My story is a mystery with romance elements. He’s an accountant hoping to change careers. She’s an artisan with a big problem she can’t solve. Both are recently divorced, and both become targets for a murderer who got away with one already. Seems like about 90K words ought to do it.

  149. Sarah Z Says:

I am so very very scared. My goal is to write ONE novel and one novel only for the next 70 days. The plan is to write five pages a night Sunday through Thursday, resting on Friday and Saturday night. So about 62,500 words.

    Hopefully.

My story is one I have been telling to others around kitchen tables for years. I hope it will come out.

  150. Barbara Burnham Says:

Looking forward to doing this! I plan to write 3 pages/day. Good luck to everyone!

  151. Ahirah Towns Says:

I’ve never done one of these before but I’ll try anything to finish my current WIP.

It’s called Criminal Passions and takes place in a futuristic Chicago. The heroine is a cop while the hero is a sex bordello owner. During this time, sex has been outlawed in certain regions of the world. The length will only be about 20-25K making it a novella. For some strange reason I’ve developed writing block concerning my hero.

There’s great conflict between the hero and heroine just for the simple fact that the heroine is a cop searching for the owner of the bordello who is the hero.

I’ve just been having problems with discovering my hero’s internal conflict-what makes him tick.

    Hope I finish!

  152. Michele Says:

I need a swift kick in the behind to finish this book I’m working on so I’m going for about 80-85K.

  153. Vanessa Says:

I heart Sven and all the wonderful authors who keep this going!

    But it’s a new day!

The Hidden Duchess is at 66,000, but I want to round it out at 120,000 and average about 900 words day.

    Thanks again!

  154. Barbara Cass-Mills Says:

Want to say thanks to my friend Di for recommending this little jaunt. I keep telling her that I want to complete a story (lots of things started but never finished) Yes I am a wimp and quite possibly a coward too! :)

So here I am. I see names on the list I am familiar with (as a book seller) and am in awe of writing with these folks. Bear with a newb and wish me luck.

    Barbara

  155. Ella Drake Says:

Made it a good portion of the way through last time, but got caught in revisions. I’m here to make it this time!

  156. Taylor Hartt Says:

I didn’t pop in to post my results like I should have last time, for a couple of reasons. One being my having no short term memory, (oh crap, is it wednesday?) and the other, an even greater lack of free time, I’m lucky I got to write. I did manage to get the rough draft for a novella done though, so I’m willing to give it another try.

I’m shooting for most, if not all, of a 70k draft.

  157. Beth Kery Says:

Hi all! This is my first time accepting the challenge. Glad to be sweating it out with you all.
I need to finish a stalled WIP (approximately 25K to go) as well as write about 60K on another WIP that I have proposed on.
    So, 85K in all.
    I’m going to do it!

  158. Pete Darby Says:

Why not, It’s not like I’ll end up with less written…

  159. Bella Andre Says:

I’m working on my first firefighter romantic suspense for Bantam Dell and since the book is due May 15th this challenge is perfect!

  160. Eve LeRieux Says:

I suppose this challenge works differently for each writer, as each has their own projects to work on, but could one of you who has done this before share how it works? What exactly are we required to do other than the daily word count? Check in here once a week? Motivate each other?

  161. Nayad Monroe Says:

My goal is to write a story a week, at 1,000 words a day, so my project is a book’s worth of short stories. Feel my enthusiasm! :)

  162. Shelly Turner Says:

This is my first try at a writing challenge. I’m hoping to finally complete a novel I’ve been working on since 2002. The completion of my novel is now haunting me, so this should be interesting.

  163. KC Heath Says:

Working on an historical fantasy here and been bogged down in the research. Need to get cracking on the actual writing! Encouragements welcome at http://kc-heath.livejournal.com/ :) thanks :)

  164. Melanie Fletcher Says:

Well, the threat of public humiliation has always worked like a charm for me before, and Pharaoh of the Lone Star State needs at least another 60K to be finished, so let’s do it.

  165. Karen Mahoney Says:

Jumping in at the last minute! I don’t always do very well with challenges, and I failed miserably with the first Sven session… ;)

But NaNo went very well for me (almost finished the rough draft of my YA novel - now complete and out on submission to agents), and I REALLY need a push to get on with my next project. I’m halfway through an adult ms, but I’ve decided to Sweat on the sequel to my YA novel…

So I’m aiming for 60-70K (not sure how long the draft will come out, yet). I’ve just started a new full-time job, but I can still do this!!! :)

  166. Cassie Says:

Okay, jumping in the deep end here!
I’ve just finished writing a 50k word book, so I reckon I will do the sequel… or at least try to.
    So, goals:
    1. Plot sequel
    2. Write sequel (hopefully around 10,000 wds a week, writing every day)
    3. Finish rewrites on first book
    Yay! I have a plan! Kinda…

  167. Mike Brotherton Says:

I’ve been procrastinating about starting my new novel (3rd, first two published) because of excessive research needs and other time-intensive projects (e.g., just finished my first marathon). But the timing is right, and I can do 1000 words a day based on past experience. I’m going to take the first week to finish up some research and do some detailed plotting, then try to get through the bulk of the first draft in the time allotted.

  168. Melissa Blue Says:

I can’t believe how late I am to signing up for this.

Anyway, my goal is to write 90k words on my WIP, which means I’ll end up writing 75k.

  169. Leslie Kelly Says:

With a romantic thriller due on May 15, I am COUNTING on Sven to help me make my first deadline with my new publisher!

So far, so good. Counting “words” per day is helping tremendously. (thanks Julie LK for that tip!)

  170. Tuesday Morrigan Says:

Heaven help me. This is my first time. *Snicker* Who knew I had any cherries left to pop. I’m hoping to start and finish a three story anthology. I’ve figured out I need to write about 1,300 words per day. Here’s hoping I an do it, and keep going to school and work too!

  171. Terri Pray Says:

I’m nuts, but I’m game for this. I have a 40+K one I’m trying to do next month- historical romance.

  172. Sue Says:

Ahhh, nothing like the last minute.

An aspiring writer, so no deadlines. Totally jumping in head first with this and interested to see where it takes me.

    Here’s my goal:

Finish a current wip (paranormal romance): 40k
    category romance: 55k

    Total: 95k Yikes!
I think that works out to ~1400 words/day.

    Good luck everyone!

  173. Elle Says:

This just snuck right up on me! I’m taking it kind of easy this time because I’m facing 5 research paper deadlines for school in the next 2 months. My goal for Sven is to finish a 20K novella and have it polished and ready to go by the end of May. That’s about as sweaty as I can get this time.

Best of luck to all of you!

  174. Elle Says:

And I’m getting off to such a great start! As I hit SUBMIT in my last entry I realized I left a letter out of my URL *facepalm* I think I did that in my first post last round, too. I’m going back to bed :(

  175. Alison Kent » Blog Archive » Today is a lazy day . . . Says:

[…] the 3rd round of the 70 Days of Sweat Writing Challenge starts […]

  176. amie Stuart Says:

I’ve got a book due May 15…I’m in though I’d actually like to finish by the last week of April (or sooner)

  177. Christine Says:

I’m a newbie writer, although a couple editors at different places are looking at different stories. (I had done lots of research before submitting and could understand how submitting a story to more than one publisher at the same time was a HUGE no-no.)

I’m hoping to make the 2-3000 words a day, making up for what I miss on weekends and writing a 70k story about a man and woman who initially enter a relationship they agree will be only sexual. Neither believes in love but over time she realizes she wants the one thing he can’t give her. Naturally, it’s only when she leaves - him, her job in the same company, and NYC - that he ‘gets it.’ But she’s completely disappeared and those who might know where she is aren’t talking.

Okay, I’m slightly stumped as to how he’ll find her - eavesdropping seems a bit contrived, but my characters tend to get me out of these messes, so I’ll trust Maggie and Cole to get me out of this one.

  178. Why I Don’t do 70 Days of Sweat (and other sprints) » be the story Says:

[…] 70 Days of Sweat, Round 3 begins tomorrow. I will not be participating. Just as I participate in neither NaNoWriMo nor NaNoEdMo. Why not? What do I have against writers trying to write a book? Nothing, except… […]

  179. Christopher Redding Says:

Ok, here I go into my first 70 days of sweat…..

  180. Katherine Says:

Let’s give it one more go. I always seem to get sidetracked with real life stuff. But my life seems less hectic now than before, so maybe I can do it.

  181. Robert Joseph Levy Says:

Against my will, the YA SF book I’ve been working on now wants to be an adult fantasy-tinged psychological thriller, meaning I’ll need to start over ASAP. I’m looking at a long, hard 70 Days of Sweat ahead of me.

As Willow once said to Buffy, I really need to have every square inch of my ass kicked. Help me, Sven!!!

  182. Will Knauss Says:

Well, here goes. I plan on working on the novel that has been in the planning stages for longer than I care to admit. I’d also like to get a few short stories done for some upcoming anthologies. Hey, might as well aim high right?

  183. Ally Kendall Says:

Wow, I can’t believe I’m doing this. :) Unfortunately, however, I think this is the only way I will ever finish that pain in the butt book that’s been haunting me for what seems like forever now.

Best of luck to everyone! :)

  184. aj Says:

It’s probably time for me to get back down to business. Haven’t finished a book since NaNo. Now I just have to pick one to finish.

  185. Gemma Halliday Says:

Wow, just found this today. Good timing or what? I’ve got a book due May 1st that is kinda sorta started but… um… lets just say, it’s not done yet. So, I was gonna be sweating anyway, but so much more fun to do it with all of you!

  186. Chi Nguyen Says:

I buckled under peer pressure so here I am! Going to try to start a completely new one that I’ve been batting around in my head. I’m sweating already….

  187. Anne Douglas Says:

Well, I need the kick start again, so I’m in.

The story I finished in Sven1 was contracted and released in Nov 07, and It looks like story 2 will have a contract too. So here’s to Sven!

For Sven3 - sequels to the Sven1 novellas and 3 proposals.

  188. MJ Fierstein Says:

Well, I am willing to give it my best. This is the first challenge I have ever officially signed up for. Let’s see if I can get something done…

  189. Sara Thacker Says:

I need a kick to get going.

  190. Diane J Standiford Says:

I am being forced here. I have MS. I have one good finger to type with. After reading the abov comments, you are all a bunch of writers; I’m just a blogger since 8/08, don’t know java from jama, WIP (work in progess?) swell, almost all of you have wip, been publshed b4, etc etc—so, I am doing this and you all can just remember 1. I have ONE GOOD FINGER
    2. I have Multiple Sclerosis, my brain has shrunken and has HOLES in it.
    3. I am OVER 50 4. It is 7:30PM Leap Day and sounds like many of you have already STARTED. ****So, if I do this, and YOU don’t:_____
(YOU fill in the blank.) My story is true. It is about sexual harrassment within a government office. It has haunted me since I lived it and I think only telling it will release the demons. Remember my name, because I may be killed before I’m allowed to finish this story. The murderer will be PB. Auria has forced me into this and some blogger known only as Lil Navigator. They are blameless to my possible murder. But remember the initials.

  191. 70 Days of Sweat » Blog Archive » Start sweating Says:

[…] « Are you up for round three? […]

  192. Stephanie Secrest Says:

I signed up, but whether or not I’ll actually accomplish anything will remain to be seen with this two-part move I’ve got going on the end of March and beginning of May.

I don’t even know what project I’ll work on.

    This’ll be interesting.

  193. Scarlett Sanderson Says:

Well, I just signed up. *yikes*

I need something to help kick start my WIP. I only usually write novellas. My biggest hurdle is getting past 25,000 words. I’m hoping this will push me to work on the full length WIP I have plotted.

    Fingers crossed!

  194. Cara Carnes Says:

I’m in. I need a good firm kick in ass - and Sven looks up for it…

My goal? I want to get at least two WIPs done.

  195. Caro Mora Says:

I’m looking forward to this. I need SOMETHING to keep me on track. :)

My goal: Finish current YA WIP. It now sits at around 9000 words. I’d like to get to 60,000 words. I’d also like to get a start on my next project when this one is finished.

    So: ~ 50,000 words of Project A
    ~ 20,000 words of Project B

  196. Tina Bendoni Says:

Well, I have lots I need to do, and lots I have been procrastinating on. Didn’t do so well last Sven, so here’s hoping I do much better on this one. My Goal: Finish AIL, Finish DE3, Write AIS

  197. Marianne LaCroix Says:

I need to get the first draft of By The Sword nearly completed by the time this ends. I am figuring 700-1000 words a day.

  199. Debbie Mumford Says:

I’m in. I need to jump-start my writing since I got side-tracked by a bad bout with the flu.

I’ll be writing Dragons’ Flight, a shifter novel for Freya’s Bower.

  200. Beldaran Cara Says:

My goal is to finish two WIPs, so I’ll try to write 1k every day.
    Good luck to everyone!

  201. Celeste Says:

    I’m in. 1000K a day.

  202. Erin Kendall Says:

I’m going to give this a go. I’ve got roughly 40k left on the novel I’m working on now, and I could use a swift kick in the pants.

Thing is, I’m using voice recognition software to write. I have a bad left wrist and VR is now necessary. So while I may not get the huge wordcounts, this challenge should help keep me moving steadily.

So…my goal is to finish my book by May at the latest, preferably sooner. ;)

    This is an awesome idea.

    Cheers,
    Erin

  203. Sara Dennis Says:

Okay, no really. I’m really doing it this time. I have been slacking for far too long. And I have too many things I really need to get done. So.

I know I can do 1K a day. Y’all can kick my butt if I don’t get it done.

  204. Suzanne McLeod Says:

Here goes… I’m hoping for a boost for my book due in Sept - so I’ve got plenty of time (ha, ha, don’t remind me I said that when the deadline gets closer!)

Lots of luck to everyone ;)

  205. Gwen Mitchell Says:

Okay, a day late, but here goes:

I have a current WIP that I need 50K+ words for, and I’d like to write another 10-15K short to submit. So there it is. I was going to put this off, but I think it’s better to just jump in. Hope I haven’t bitten off more than I can chew!

    Good luck to everyone!

    ~Gwen

  206. Allison Starkweather Says:

I’m in, if getting a little bit of a late start. My goal: 80,000 words on my current brainworm. I’ve been using brainstorming and researching to procrastinate, so this’ll be the kick in the pants that I need to get started.

  207. Yvonne Y Says:

I so very badly need to develop the write every day habit and this will kick that off. 850 words a day. I’ll be finishing the work in progress and getting started on the next idea that’s already percolating.

  208. Maggie Burns Says:

I’ve got this idea that was born a tv pilot but always wanted to be a novel when it grew up. So I’m writing that and absolutely loving it so far.

Started today, thanks to you guys. Already got 2K words and feeling fine. Thanks for the fabulous inspiration!

  209. Shelly Turner Says:

I’ve only managed to push out 657 words. Hopefully it will get better this week.

  210. Taylor Hartt Says:

That’s too funny, b/c that’s exactly what my word count was for yesterday. 657.

  211. Mary Danielson Says:

Yikes! I’m a day late, but count me in. I’m about 15k into a YA Romance, but need to be kicked into gear for sure. It will end up around 75-80k…so I’m ready to start sweating!

  212. Barbara Cass-Mills Says:

Got in 600 yesterday. Like any exercise, I am working my way up so I don’t strain something :)

  213. B.L. Foxxe Says:

Caught this late, but signed up. Revising 2 novellas, and three novels. Hoping to do a few shorts.

    Revising Novella Titles:
Almighty Interference Bites - 10k going for?
Frozen Fate - 33k hoping for at least 40+
Silkweavers’ Burns: 17k probably going to 20k+

    Revising Novel Titles:
Silkwever’s Never Ending Journey: 50k going for 70k
Silk Emporium: Emery & Kyle: 70k+ hoping for 100k

  214. Reece Says:

My goal is to finish editing my anthology story and to edit and revise my novel at least 10 pages a day hopefully closer to 20. If I do decide to add length to another story I want to write at least a thousand words a day.

  215. Susan B. Says:

I hope I haven’t missed the deadline. My goal is simply to start writing–something–again.

  216. Elle Blum Says:

Well NanoWriMo worked out really well for me so I thought I’d give this a try. It seems I need an overwhelming external presssure to crank out the creativity.

Goal: Finish a WIP, Looking for it wrap up around the 85K. If I accomplish this, it will be a miracle as I am an overly busy college student and already lack time as it is. I’m thinking less about the end goal and just hoping that some progress will be made in attempt of the journey.

  217. Jean T. Says:

I got linked here by a friend and this looks to be just the thing I need to finish my WIP. My goal is to write ‘The End’ somewhere around 70k.

  218. rainlillie Says:

Auria Cortes has pushed me..I mean encouraged me to take this challenge. I thank her for kicking my butt and telling me this is something I can do and should do. She’s the best! And so it begins.. Good luck everyone!

  219. Corinne Davies Says:

Three days in and I’m still on target. This is a record. LOL Didn’t make it in round two but I am determind to this time. I’m hoping that after 70 solid days of writing I will develope some writing-time management habits as well.

  220. Mimi B. Says:

I signed up late so I’m already behind, but I’m ready for the challenge. Let’s get writing!

  221. Patty L. Says:

A day late and a dollar short, that’s my motto. I’ve had the flu, so I’ll use that as an excuse. I need to finish a current wip, and would like to start something new during this challenge. I am going to aim to complete 60,000 words during the next seventy days.

  222. Darillian (J. Carter) Says:

Okay. I can do this. This is the first writer-type thing I’ve done, other than write. So hopefully this will get myself jumpstarted and a project finished of close to it.

    I can do this.

  223. Renee Sweet Says:

Better late than never! Let’s see if I can do this… I’m aiming for 60K on my in-progress adult urban fantasy.

  224. Leah Says:

I need to really step it up on my novel, and I’m hoping Sven will keep my feet to the flame. It’s an inspy chick-lit, planned first of 3 books. I love it, but I’ve hit a dead patch and find myself doing too much web-surfing and HGTV-watching. I have to squeeze writing in between all the mom stuff, but I wanna be a professional, so I have to move up to writing at the professional level–ie, more than 2 paragraphs a day! I’m a slow writer (right now), so although this book may end up being abt 100,000 words, I am aiming for 4 pgs per day. Yikes!

  225. Theresa Says:

I’ve just signed up. I know I’m late. I would like to write two shorter romances for TWRP Wayback Texas line.
The first Ethan and Maddie; second, A Search for Forgiveness.
Trying for five pages a day, starting today.
    Good luck everyone,
    Theresa

  226. Sarai Says:

If it is not too late I would still like to join in. I think this is what I need for a kick in the pants to get going again.
    good luck!

  227. Sarai Says:

Okay whoops I apparently don’t follow instructions well. I would like to get 60,000 words out in the next 70 days to get the rough draft off the ground and going. :whoops:

  228. Bonnie Rose Leigh Says:

I need to write a total of 90K to finish four projects during the 70 days of sweat. Mikel’s Wrath, Sheltering Abby, Sex Me Fast, Sex Me At Last

  229. Brandi Bradley Says:

If it is not too late, I am totally in. I just finished a book, and the rejection process is getting me down. I need to start a new project.

  230. Plot Monkeys » Blog Archive » A Writing Challenge & A Giveaway! Says:

[…] a guest blogger today, us Plotmonkeys are issuing all you writers out there who visit our blog to a “70 Days of Sweat” challenge. All four of us have joined this challenge, and we’d love to have company! What is […]

  231. Paula Robinson Says:

Hello, everyone…I am here because of a “gauntlet” laid down by the wonderful plotmonkeys…I have never ever attempted to write a full length novel and this just might be the kick in the pants that I need to do it…I have at least 7 story ideas, but I haven’t fleshed it out yet…I think I am just going to jump in before I think too much and not do this…I am already sweating…

  232. Cher Gorman Says:

Okay, Sven says sweat so, hey, I’m up for the challenge.

My goal is to crack the code on my new single title called “Something Old, Something New, Something Dead” –A pop-the-champagne cork happily-ever-after love story of deadly proportions.

See you guys at he writing gym,

    Cher

  233. Kris Mc Says:

    I’m in for 70,000 word novel–4 pages a day.

    Mary’s Child
    Mary Stratton- boutique owner
    Jake Cantrell- rancher

  234. Shelly Turner Says:

Well, I don’t see much progress happening today. Between my hubby and five kids things are going to be crazy! So here is my weekly word count, 7417. Not bad, but more would be better.
Maybe next week I’ll have a higher word count.
Have a great week everyone :)

  235. Rose L. Says:

    I’m late, but whatever.

    My goals:

    1. add 30k to the novel or finish the first draft, whatever happens first.
    2. Finish the big non-fiction project by May 16th.

Mini-goals: 2 pages of fiction and 2 pages of nonfiction every day (that’s 1000 words a day total on both projects).

  236. Christine Says:

Well, my best-laid/made plans went a bit off course.
But in the first week I finished a wip that an editor had asked be doubled from novella to full-length. A friend with a critical eye for editing pointed out a few ‘gaps’ and I finished filling them in to her satisfaction. Hopefully the editor agrees!
Now on to the story that has taken over my poor brain, kicking out the original work I had in mind. I’ve got the characters worked out, story summary and chapter break-downs and a few key scenes mentally worked out. I just have to find the time to write!
    Hope everyone’s making their goals!
