Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! But you still need to be writing. Are you?

In terms of wordcount I’m going backwards at the moment because I’m editing and there’s a *lot* of dead wood coming out of my WIP. But in terms of progress, I think I’m doing well, because I feel I’m getting a much better handle on my characters and story, and hopefully really improving the book!

My totals are spread between two books and some ideas/notes writing and I have about 13K to actually write to meet my Sven target of 70K. I think I might make it or thereabouts. :)

  2. Kim Knox Says:

I added more to the wip I shouldn’t have started and now I’ve gone back to another of the Sven-wips I planned to work on.

Everything’s gone a bit haywire in the last month and I lost the daily writing rhythm I’d worked out. :-( Hopefully I’ll get back into the wing again in the New Year.

  3. Charlene Teglia Says:

Yep. Mostly editing this week, but yep.

  4. Karen Duvall Says:

I’m at 63,240 words, so I think I’ll make my Sven goal. Yay! It also might just be the end of the book. It’s looking that way. I’d originally planned 100K for this book, but it’s not going to end up being that long.

  5. Lauren Dane Says:

I finished my hand edits and now I’m working in document chapter by chapter. I’m hoping to be finished by day’s end. I made my goal and more already but I’ve already added about 3K to the manuscript so that’s all good.

  6. Stephanie Staton Says:

Sadly, I am not getting as much done as I had hoped. I am trying to do some editing. Then I plan to do some more writing.

  7. Lori Says:

I drove up and down California between Wednesday and today, having an early Christmas with family and friends. I brought my laptop and I did manage 2247 words. Below goal, but I’m still pretty pleased.

Now I’m back in Santa Barbara to celebrate the holiday with the dh. And I do have to write, otherwise I won’t finish the book by Jan. 15. Can Sven nudge Santa into giving me more time for Christmas?

  8. Shiloh Walker Says:

About 12K this week total, I think. Finished the main WIP and it’s with one of my advance readers now, so this next week, I’ll focus on one of the others.

    :)

    Merry Christmas, everybody!

  9. Joely Says:

Still working on worldbuilding, character development, and plot for the Jan. story.

  10. Emma Petersen Says:

Writing? What’s that? LOL. The last time I wrote was back in November, right before Thanksgiving. Yes, I’m a slacker. I won’t make any excuses. Tonight I’m going to start again. I have one novella left - due by December 31st. Le sigh. I can do it. I can do it. I’ll check back in Wednesday if we’re having a check in.

  11. Gina Marina Says:

quick “hi” - no writing but thinking about it. Finished finals (B!), getting ready for a dinner party….

  12. Susanna Carr Says:

After I turned in my last manuscript, I took some time off from writing. I’m slowing getting back into the schedule. I’ve written 1K on a short story and 1K on a full-length manuscript.

What with holiday stuff and work, I didn’t get anything done between Monday 12/17 to 12/19, but I’m back on track now. I finished up 2,400 words - got a ways to go to finish this book, almost 39,000 words. So, maybe I’ll get more done over the holiday - I don’t know. I’ve got 2 weeks off before I start substitute teaching again, so I want to write big-time. Hopefully, something will get accomplished.

    Happy holidays!

I finished cataloguing our library! oops, er, back to research!

  15. Sandie Hudson Says:

Sorry, no writing this week, but will get back into it all after the hoildays.
    Merry Christmas everyone.
    Hugs
    Sandie

  16. Seanachi Says:

Oops! My bad. Forgot to check in. Went over my weekly word goal and spent about 8 hours doing the dreaded OUTLINING, so that now, I actually have, you know, a plot for the rest of the book. 29320 total on my current WIP and I found a way to use several scenes from the previous draft. 75,417 words written since the sweat started.

  17. Elen Says:

Yikes! I’m in Sven detention! I have to say, it feels kinda good to let the bad girl out once in a while. I have a plan! I blogged it out. Much cheer to all!

  18. Keziah Fenton Says:

Staring at the page. Have been for three hours now. Nothing. Brain dead from all the work/holidays/excuses. I’m going to start typing words that relate to my wip and see what happens. Eventually some of those random thoughts might make sense.

Happy holidays all! Wondrous writing and exalted editing! Okay, I’ll stop with the obnoxious alliteration. But enjoy the season.

  19. Thomma Lyn Says:

Argh - very late check in, but I didn’t want to miss it! I am still working on revising my novel — I’ve revised four more chapters, so I’m happy with that. :)

Happy Holidays, everybody, and all the best in the New Year!
