December 19th - Wednesday Check-in

Do I hear sleigh bells ringing or fingers flying over the keys? I hope the words are piling up along with the credit card charges.

i got another 3080 words since sunday but I have no idea of the total count (over 70,000 surely). I still need to do that tally. I head out tomorrow for the parents and all the holiday visiting. Oh dear. there goes the word count

  2. Kim Knox Says:

I wrote 2500 words on Monday - unfortunately it wasn’t on the wip I was supposed to be writing! lol I think I needed the break, though. Fracture was driving me loopy.

Nothing since, as Christmas shopping yesterday and getting zapped with gamma rays today have taken priority….Don’t make me angry… You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry… lolol

Am finally back to working on my primary WIP, after a gap of nearly a month doing other stuff! It’s a relief to be working on it, even though I know it needs a lot of work to make it right, and make it make sense! I managed 1K of new words and editing on it yesterday, which feels like a good start… or restart.

My grand Sven total is 57K. Not huge by some people’s standards, but I’m hoping to meet my 70K target by 15th January. :)

  4. Alexa Silver Says:

I’ve only added about 700 words to my primary WIP. I have, however, been writing and polishing a holiday freebie, to the tune of almost 5000 words. Merry Christmas to all! And to Sven? Back off the cookies, buster!

  5. Laura Says:

I’m a third of the way through revising my current WIP. I’ve no idea what my Sven total is. I’m just focused on finishing this. It feels like I’m making progress, but it’s probably taking longer than it should. I don’t know, this is my first MS.

  6. Matt S Says:

I’ve begun brainstorming the next chunk of my story, as well as re-reading what I have and making notes of what needs to happen when it comes time to revise the whole thing. I may do some touching up before I move on, though I guess that depends on how the next few days go.

  7. Shiloh Walker Says:

10k since Sunday. I send the end in sight.

  8. Shiloh Walker Says:

oops… SEE the end in sight. I SEE the end in sight…

  9. Jaci Says:

Finished editing my Berkley book so that’s put aside for now while I let it gel. That’s due the end of the month. Now I’m working on my Bantam proposal which is due in January (ack ack ack to deadlines!). Have about 5K of proposal done on that so far, both synopsis and chapters.

I so don’t have time for holidays. Heh.

  10. Lauren Dane Says:

I’m revising just now on my Berkley book so all new words are jotted on notecards and in margins. All good work though so I’m very happy.

  11. Thomma Lyn Says:

Revised two more chapters and started a short story, but I’ve slowed down some the last few days.

  12. Charlene Teglia Says:

Editing and working on the proposal!

  13. Seanachi Says:

I’m over 100 pages, at 26425 for the manuscript, and at 71873 total words written since the top of the sweat. Wish it was all on the same piece! Anyway, I’m pleased.

  14. Mechele Armstrong Says:

Roughly 4400 words this week. Bringing my Sven total up to 83 K. I’m nearing the end of the current WIP so hopefully will go fast.

  15. Sierra Dafoe Says:

Only 3k in since my last check in, bringing me up to just shy of 60k — but I had two releases this week, and two chats (that’s my excuse, anyway!) I’m also really excited — I finally got an idea I’m enthusiastic about for my first full-length, yay! So I think the remaining four weeks (augh!) of Sven are gonna be about finishing up the three novellas I’ve got currently promised, and building the outline for the full-length! Whee!

And if I actually get all three novellas done, I think I’ll have comfortably hit my Sven goals — what a great feeling that would be!

  16. Rebecca Airies Says:

I forgot to check in on Sunday, but since Sunday, I wrote 4293 words! I have a little over 2k to go before reaching my Sweat goal.

  17. Lori Says:

2047 since Monday, half of which I wrote this evening, after a five hour drive from Santa Barbara to the Bay Area. Dedication or craziness, I’m not sure which. Maybe a little of both. I just want like made to have the book finished by Jan. 15!

  18. Sandie Hudson Says:

Well it looks like I’m the only bad one here ATM. I’ve done nothing since Sunday, besides shopping for Christmas presents and having a great time in a new book store that opened.
I don’t think I’ll get anything else done now until after Christmas. We have visitors coming to stay. Anyway I’ll be back into it after the holidays.
I Hope you all have a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and A SAFE ONE.
    Hgs

  19. Amanda Freeman Says:

Bah-humbug. I’ve been reading not writing. I’ve been reading like a crazed addict. Sneaking time alone, ignoring my children just to read two more pages. I’m jonesing for the next in the series, but I really need to live my life before cuddling up with that bad boy. Then hopefully, I’ll have the ability to face my pages again.

  20. Saskia Walker Says:

Oops, I haven’t checked in for a while. Things are going well, but not what I had originally planned to be working on for the challenge! I got sidetracked into revisions and then went into new ideas mode. It’s all good, though. Since the challenge began I’ve finished up a novella, written two short sories and two new outlines for novels, as well revising a novel, checking galleys, and just over 10K on a novel. I’m hoping to keep moving forward over the holiday. Have a great week, everyone!

  21. Elle Says:

Went on a nice vacation in the Rockies over the weekend and had time to do more brainstorming. I’ve written a total of 37,000 words since then, but most of it is not story story, it’s just brainstorming, and some was lifted from previous things I’ve written. It’s a little messy in WIP-Land right now! But progress is progress and now I have the push I need to drive forward.

  22. Joely Says:

I think this is the first check in that I missed! I totally spaced it yesterday. I’m not writing new words, but I am planning and building the next project I’ll be starting 1/1/2008, a significant rewrite of a 50K story I wrote in March using “Fast Draft.”

  23. deniz Says:

unfortunately no words… but I’m back on the research wagon!
