I worked a bit better the last part of the week. I added another 1,055 words over two MS’s and I’m at a total of 75,131 words for Sven. I’m happy with what I have achieved so far.
Hope the word fairy is good to you all.
    Hugs
    Sandie

  2. Alice Audrey Says:

Wait, we have a whole month? I thought it was only a couple more weeks. Yay!!!!

  3. Kim Knox Says:

I was slack again this week :-( Monsters’ school navitities/open days etc kicked in.

I have got the first short novella in the Fracture series (it’s a series? arghgh!) finished and I’m looking at that today. I still have Third Proposal to finish too. I don’t expect much out of next week as the run up to Christmas starts in earnest and on Wednesday they’re going to zap me with radiation to see how my kidney’s working, lol

My Sven total is 60031…which is *way* more than I’d usually write in two months *grin*

  4. Amanda Freeman Says:

I had a few new ideas this week. However, no new words. I’m going to kick my own butt and get in gear this week.

  5. Portia Da Costa Says:

I’ve done much better, since Wednesday, than I have for a while. On Weds itself I did 4K words! Which is miraculous for me and my all time record, I think. I must have been in the zone… :)

On Thurs I did another 1.9K and finished a novella. Friday I was out for a lot of the day, having Christmas lunch with my writing buddy and fellow ’sweater’ Saskia Walker, but yesterday I had a good day not actually writing, but transcribing a lot of scruffy notes from notebooks into an ‘ideas’ file, and I did about 2K of that! It’s not really proper book concepts or anything, but I’m sure some of it might be useful in some future project. Think I’ll do more of that today, then get back to my main Sven WIP tomorrow.

So all in all feeling quite positive about my writing at the moment. My combined Sven total of 54K isn’t huge, but I think I might manage to hit my target of 70K by 15th Jan. If not, I’ve still done fairly well. For me.

  6. Shiloh Walker Says:

Got another 5k done since last check in. The main WIP itself is now a 83k, my goal was 90k, but I’m going to go over. Hopefully not by much. My plan is to get the book done before January so I can edit and rewrite throughout that month. It’s due Feb 1…eek!

  7. Jaci Burton Says:

About 280 pages edited on the book I wrote during Sven (yayyyy!). Hoping to finish up in the next day or so, then I need to jump right into writing a proposal that’s due Jan 15th. I’m moving right along considering an ice storm, power outage and holiday madness are interfering. ;-)

  8. Gina Marina Says:

    no progress - on anything

  9. Melissa Schroeder Says:

Been bad about checking in, but I have been getting things done at least, lol. I am up to 55K for th total so I am right on track. I will actually finish up in the next two weeks and take the first week of January off since it’s my bday week and I have a LOT of signings in Jan and Feb I need to get ready for:)
Okay, so I won’t REALLY take off, but no required count:)

  10. Laura Armstrong Says:

Well, I’m apparently back at writing. 4000 words since 12/8. After a whiny post about my non-productiveness a month ago, I’ve gained impetus, possibly because I am one of the 20 finalists in the Brava Novella contest (amazed, I asked if there had only been 20 entries, but I was assured there were more) and might possibly need to have an actual novella completed by the time the contest concludes.

Secondly, I actually have interest in the new characters. You know you’re really stuck when you look at your WIP heroine iand say, “Oh, for cripes’ sake, quit whining and do the man!” but some formula you feel you must adhere to says you have to wait until chapter x to get to that part. zzzz, and imagine what the readers will think if her creator is that bored with her.

So, I surrendered my pigheaded “you must finish what you started” and moved to the novella. New life, things have to happen quicker, and so we’re off to the races. E. (my old main character) will have to sit on her front porch for a while. Maybe she can figure out some things on her own, and when I check back in, she’ll have the answer for me. I’d still like for her to hurry up and do the man.

  11. Matt S Says:

I’ve been envisioning my WIP in three big chunks, each marked by the significant even that happens at the end. I hit the first event this week, and I’m debating whether I’m going to go over the first chunk of story before moving on, or just move on. Normally I would say, “Just finish the whole thing,” but the story might also work as three separate entities, so…. yeah. That’s where I’m at.

  12. Joely Says:

3110 since Wed’s check in, including today. My Sven total is 83440. Now off to edit a novella…

  13. Keziah Fenton Says:

Plodding along but it’s still forward movement. Thanks for the incentive!

  14. Taige Crenshaw Says:

Been a while since I checked in. Keep forgetting. LOL. My numbers 5,708

  15. Taige Crenshaw Says:

Been a while since I checked in. Keep forgetting. LOL. My number since Wed. 5,708. Total in all 53,880

  16. Karen Duvall Says:

Only 4000 words since last Sunday. Aargh! Damn rhino virus. I have a horrible time writing when my head is clogged. Still, I’m on the home stretch. Over 60,000 words, so I’m happy. Sort of.

  17. Lori Says:

Moving right along and feeling really good about the story and the progress of the novel. Things slowed a bit yesterday and today, partly because of the holidays, and partly because I’m working on the Big Love Scene. Word count since Thursday is 5685, for a WIP total of 86325.

  18. Mechele Armstrong Says:

Roughly 9 K for the whole week. Brings up the Sven total to 78 K.

I’m into the last 10 K of the novel I’m working on and would LOVE to finish it by Christmas. We will see.

  19. Seanachi Says:

Oy, so yeah, I’m still sitting at 22,300. Which is around where I was on Wednesday. I’ve had a lot going on the last few days. Out of town wedding, catching up on housework, etc. I did a full read-through though and I really like what I have. Hoping to get back to it tomorrow.

  20. Stephanie Staton Says:

I am working on editing my NaNo novel. So, I don’t know the exact word count. My goal is to have it complete in the next month.

  21. Wayne (aka Trybble) Says:

    16 December:
    Magic Touch:
    Total word count = 10,157
    New words written = 0

    Double O Blonde
    Total word count = 25,053
    New words written = 1,022

This was a really rough week between doctor visits and starting a new project with a tight deadline at work. Add in Christmas shopping, a Car Show and a cool new place resturant/arcade to take the kids called Incredible Pizza I just haven’t had the time I wanted to work on the story. Still, I got my thousand words which means I met my goal for this checkin. Hopefully I’ll get at least another thousand by Wednesday.

    Y’all take care……………Wayne

  22. D M Evans Says:

i’m not sure of the total word count (will go back and figure that out for the next log in) but i’ve done nearly 7500 since wed. averaging about 1800 a day. That’s what stress does to me

  23. shannon kennedy Says:

Well, I didn’t do anything the first part of the week, but made up for it at the end, 2600 words. The holidays keep me hopping. Hope to do some serious “Sweating” through Christmas Break when school’s out and I have two weeks off. Happy holidays to everybody - keep sweating!

  24. Carrie Lofty Says:

4956 for Thu-Sun; 67180 for the challenge; 1066/day. My original goal was to finish this WIP by Christmas, but that’s not going to happen. I’m about 20-35K off from finishing, which of course means a good hefty chuck of revisions and paring down when it’s all over. So I’m looking at New Year’s as my finish line.

  25. Thomma Lyn Says:

ACK! I forgot to check in — here I am a bit late. Anyhow, I don’t know the exact word count this represents, but I have revised three more chapters on my rough draft, since last check-in. And I’m working on a short story, too.

  26. deniz Says:

still a month to go? yippee! I’ve got time to pull myself together :-)

  27. Joely Says:

Woo-hoo, I just had to come over with an update that I finished the NaNoWriMo novel this morning!!! Typing “The End” is the greatest feeling ever. Thanks to Sven for encouraging the consistent daily sweating!

  28. Laura Says:

I revised nearly a quarter of my whole manuscript. It’s slow going because the story needs so much fleshing out. It’s like I wrote the bare minimum and moved on. Most people delete and edit when they revise. I add.
