Revising, revising — I’ve revised four more chapters of the draft I’m polishing. I’m pleased. Happy Holidays to everybody! :D

  2. Portia Da Costa Says:

Oh nooo….. I’m doing horrendously badly!!! I haven’t written anything since last check in. And I’m one of the sponsors! :(

Basically, it’s due to Christmas madness and a whole bunch of web design stuff I had to do… and it’s driving me nuts. When I don’t actually write, I have this feeling that I can’t actually call myself a *writer*, and I feel like a total fraud.

The good news is that I’m only doing the bare minimum of Xmas stuff today, and I’ve told my web clients I’m not doing any more updates at all until 1st Jan!

So I’ll be writing today… Glory Halleluia!!!!

  3. Kim Knox Says:

My Sven total is 59398…hopefully I’ll break 60k today.

Though I did get distracted this week as I made the final twenty in the Brava Contest *squeee*

  4. Amanda Freeman Says:

Meh. I’m reading a writing book to try to find my way back to the page. Fingers crossed I’ll be back to writing later this week.

  5. Sandie Hudson Says:

Haven’t looked at any of my work since last check in, and feeling very guilty. Been busy with appointment and visiting family and friends for Christmas. So from tomorrow I need to get my butt back into gear and get some work done.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of the week.
    Hugs
    Sandie

  6. Laura Elliott Says:

    I’m revising/editing. I’m on chapter 8 out of 33. Chug, chug, chug!

  7. Matt S Says:

Nothing in the last few days. Work has been leaving me completely drained, plus we’ve had stuff going on… hopefully that turns around today.

I’m getting nowhere with finding a title!

  9. Mechele Armstrong Says:

I’ve almost met my goal for this week already so I’m happy. I’m at almost 5 K for the week. And almost at 75 K for Sven. I was hoping to hit 80 K during Sven so I’m getting really close to meeting that.

Congrats Kim on making the 20!

Deniz, I’m not finding a title either. I will worry about it when I finish.

  10. Shiloh Walker Says:

4k this week, not including what I might get done today…and that might not be anything.

Close to being done, though! Wiggle!

  11. Keziah Fenton Says:

    Congratulations Kim! That’s great news.
I was sick last week. Brain oozed out of my head. Very messy. Did plenty yesterday but still have a ways to go.
Portia - your books are Christmas gifts to a couple of friends. How’s that for incentive? No? Just more pressure? Okay then, happy writing day all!

  12. Sandy l Says:

Is there an award for the person who writes the least?

  13. Michelle (MG) Says:

LOL Sandy! I’m not doing so well on the writing front. Still editing and edging up in the word count, but nothing to write home, er Sven, about.

  14. Elle Says:

I got through finals in one piece last week and wrote 4800 words Monday, none yesterday, and I’m not holding out for a miracle today, but who knows? I might have to run away from home for a few hours to get some writing done.

The good news is that I have 5 weeks off from school to write and I’m getting back into gear.

  15. Alexa Silver Says:

    Congrats, Kim!!

I’m at just over 93,000 words, but the holidays are pressing in and I may not be able to cocentrate as I’d like in the next couple of weeks.

  16. Karen Duvall Says:

I’m at 57,000 words and counting. Got a head cold and that fogs up the old brain, so production is at a minimum. I read what I wrote yesterday and very little of it made sense, lol! WTF? I didn’t think I was that out of it.

  17. Sierra Dafoe Says:

Didn’t get to check in on Sunday — I was down visitng my mom. But I’ve finished 10,000 words since last Wednesday’s check-in, which gets me alllmost back to where I should be right now — a bit over the halfway mark, and hopefully by Sunday we’ll be right back at 2/3rds of my Sven goal!

  18. Sierra Dafoe Says:

LOL, Sandy! There should be! Consolation prize would be good :-)

  19. Charlene Teglia Says:

    Writing. Writing. Writing.

  20. Ally Says:

Not so good, I’d say. I blogged today. And I wrote today, so at least that’s something! My poor blog feels so lonely, if such a thing is even possible. Good luck to everyone else.

  21. Lori Says:

Doing good, been writing everyday, though not to my goal of 1500 words. I’m at 80,640 words for my WIP. I’m feeling confident that I’ll reach 100,000 by end of Sven, but not certain I’ll be finished with the book. I’ve got about a third of the story left to tell, which means I’m running long.

Now that I’m down to the last third of the book, I find that I’m having to stop and plot and re-plot to either tie up loose ends or discard them altogether. I’m also having to do some research, which I love, so I have to force myself not to get lost in the new nuggets of knowledge.

  22. Candice Gilmer Says:

Well, I’m doing better than I was, and have managed to get about 5K this week, though the week is not over yet! I’m still not as far along as I’d like to be, but I’m working on it.

  23. Seanachi Says:

I’m closing in on 25% of my word goal on Til Death, which–considering I got 28k in and started completely over after taking a nearly 7k detour on another piece–isn’t bad. The holiday madness is starting and I’m frantically trying to get everything done. I actually find myself being a little scroogy this year, which is totally unlike me. But the holidays, like everything else, take me away from what I really want to be doing–writing! Of course a lot of that is limited budget and labor intensive and creative but inexpensive gifts. Still, I’m pleased with how things are going. For the most part I’m right where I want to be in terms of daily writing.

  24. Ella Drake Says:

    Still meeting daily goals!

  25. Carrie Lofty Says:

3282 for M-W; 62,222 for the challenge or 1050/day. That felt really good to type coz it’s a mondo huge number :)

  26. Wayne (aka Trybble) Says:

    12 December:
    Magic Touch:
    Total word count = 10,157
    New words written = 0

    Double O Blonde
    Total word count = 24,031
    New words written = 1,494

I’m doing great considering everything that’s going on. I think the writer’s strike is helping, otherwise I would have wasted this part of the week watching the Bionic Woman and Chuck {laughs}.

    Take care……………Wayne

  27. Joely Says:

I couldn’t report in until I got my words for the day! 549 today, Sven total = 80,330 words, the NaNoWriMo novel is up to 59,127 words. I’m slowly grinding through the final climax/resolution but I have a good 5-10K left to go. 2,337 words since Sunday’s check in.

  28. Sierra Dafoe Says:

Woo-hah!! Had to stop back in and report — 4800 more words since I checked in this afternoon, and another one done and out the door! YAY!!!!

  29. Rebecca Airies Says:

Writing every day. 3974 words since Sunday. I’m at just under 80k and hopefully I’ll hit that mark tonight.

  30. Dawn Says:

Hi all! I’ve got good news and bad news.

The good news is, I’m now plotting the second WIP, and it’s turning out better than my first Sven novel, which ended at a rather stunted 20,000. I think I learned a few useful things in writing the first book that will help me make the second better. I’m getting a little stuck here and there but on the whole, it’s coming along quite well.

The bad news is, I’ve just received my posting for my job and it means having to pack up and go back to my hometown, where I will not have access to the internet. I’ll still be able to do some writing after work, and I intend to carry through with the challenge to the end. But I won’t be able to drop in here for my daily dose of inspiration anymore. Since I doubt I’ll be hearing from you all again (at least for several months, possibly more), I hope everyone has a lovely Christmas and happy New Year. Best of luck with the writing. Thanks for organising this wonderful challenge, you have all been such a great help. Here’s to a great writing year ahead!

  31. Merry Says:

Haven’t reached my target, but, I’ve completed (and sent off) the short story I was working on. Hopefully it will arrive in time as the Post Office can’t guarantee next day, first class delivery as it’s Christmas (not without charging over £4!!!!!)

    So:
    K’sK standing at: 14,217 (+ 5,164 for the outline)
    Short Story: 2,461

Sven total:16,678 (or 21,842 with the outline)

Now to get back to K’sK and start on a twisted version of Rapunzel!

  32. Lauren Dane Says:

I finished my WIP and I’m letting it sit for a few days before I start on revisions. I got started on a joint project and I’m averaging just at 3K a day on it so I’m happy.

Sven has been so excellent for me - it’s like keeping a food diary only a word diary so I know when I have to post my wordcount I want it to be good so I force myself to focus instead of playing around online.

  33. D M Evans Says:

got 1580 words done so that’s only about 530 a day. I’m a little behind but this week I have an excuse, it’s finals week and that means tests to write about a few hundred essays to grade. Sometimes I despair of ever having taught them anything
