Everyone back to work after the long holiday weekend? Or everyone still in a food coma?

Definitely in a food coma, and I haven’t written much since last check-in because of Thanksgiving travel and family get-togethers. But that’s okay *grin*!
I’ve written only 2828 words since Wednesday, but I wrote enough to break 50K on my NaNo novel! Word count for NaNo novel is now 51,322 words. And I’m gonna get back in the swing of things come Monday — I’ve won NaNo by breaking 50K, but the story isn’t done yet — needs a few more chapters before I can say I’ve completed another rough draft.
Slowed down in the last few days as I had a chat about my wip with my CP and realised I’m not writing a 30k novella but 3 20k ones, lmao Not something I wanted to hear when I’m 23329 words into it and I thought the end was a week away!
But it makes sense as I keep realising I’m missing scenes that I know I have to go back and stick in. So…I’m trundling through it today and working out what I’ll probably have to change. Then I’ll write the end, hopefully.
It’s been pretty pathetic this week. In the last 7 days I’ve written 2500 words. And being non-American, i don’t even have Thanksgiving for an excuse.
I will get there with this story, but it’s been slow as I’ve been trying to figure out how to rectify plot problems this week.
Next week, i’m hoping for better things.
I had a rough first part of the week, as I mentioned in my Weds check in, but then I picked up again and did some good work on Weds, Thur and Fri, even doing 250 words on a new and different project to my main WIP! My ongoing Sven total is 40824, average per day 995.
But yesterday was a null day. First a set of proofs arrived for my May 08 Black Lace, then I developed a migraine, so the day turned out to be a washout, alternately sleeping and watching Pirates of the Caribbean 3!
So, I think I will have to take a week’s worth of my special days to do these proofs - although I may try and do some writing bits in and amongst - and I apologise in advance if I’m not out and about as much, visiting other blogs in the course of the next week. I’ll make up for it afterwards, when the proofs are done, promise!
I’ve only written about 2 K since Wednesday. Total for last week is almost 7 K. Which brings me up to 54400 words for Sven. I’m hoping for a better week this week.
Taking a day off today, but my count is up to 19,014, about 3000 words since last check in. Now that I finished my first draft, I need to decide what to work on next.
I wrote maybe a little over a thousand words last night, and had planned to get some more done today, but I’m on cold meds and it’s just not going to happen. Meh.
Things on the world-building front are sort of coming together though, so all is not lost, I suppose.
I’m back to it now. I had to do a story board for this series though as it has some complexities to it and threads I don’t want to forget, so I did that yesterday. Back to writing today and it’s an enjoyable chapter. Very fun. I’m having a good time
I’ve done close to 10k this week. I’m 39.5k into the nano novel which is estimated to be about 100k. My goal: a completely finished first draft ready to edit by January 15th.
I’ve added to my contracted novel. 3,677. Got bored and edited two other stories, nothing significant added. So I’ve started another story figured I’ve got until January 15th to get a rough draft if not complete the whole thing. So far I’ve added 4,999. Making the total 8,666. My goal is to have 40k by January. That’s 51 days. I can do it and then I’ll take a VERY long break.
I’ve slowed down a bit since Wednesday, only 2191 words. If I hope to finish NaNo I have to do almost 3,000/day, not sure how I’ll go, all I can do is try.
Well, life got in my way this week. I did 6,763 words just yesterday. The first part of the week was a wash for me. I am trying to catch up in my NaNo novel to get it done. I have written 1,416 words so far today. Hopefully by Wednesdays check in I will be done or almost done with my NaNo.
Good luck to everyone. I hope you reach your writing goals this week.
Total for the week 15,005. Total for NaNo 39,016 and though I would love to write more and make it to 40,000, I’ll leave that for tomorrow. I’m exhausted and need to go to bed. I’m almost caught up and on target for the 50,000 before Nov 30. However, the story doesn’t end there so I’ll keep going after that until this one is finished. I get to go back and revise my first draft that’s been “sitting” and then when that’s done come back to this one and revise. Oh and research for the next one that might be time travel. Hmmm. Busy, busy.
As I usually write in-between day job and mommy duties, I actually got a little extra time this week, some of which was taken up by research, plotting, etc. Still, managed to meet my Sven goals, in addition to adding 5,730 to my Nano project–which I have no intention of finishing. It’s supposed to be my lowest priority project, but it keeps sneaking to the forefront.
i’ve had a great week. i’ve done between 12 and 14K since last Sunday. over 10 of it since Wednesday’s check-in and the breakthru i described there. My NaNo project and thus my Sven too was at 34167 as of last evening. I’ve not done today’s tally yet and won’t till late evening. I’ve had three days this week that went over 3K. I can’t keep such a pace up forever but I think I can keep it up for six more days. and then i need to back off just a bit. back to the Sven level with my breakthru still in place. and then maybe i can make room in my life for the other things that give me joy. like other peoples stories. oh to loose myself in a looooooong complex story and the magical prose of someone else’s novel once again. my sense of gratitude for all the storytellers has reached a new and mountainous, no orbital, height since my experience with Sven and NaNo this year. my concept of what it takes to get a story out of ones head and into a proper format for sharing is no longer and will never again be theoretical.
I’m plugging along, although overall wordcount for the week was every bit as low as I suspected!
Good news is I got requests for fulls on one of my novellas in progress, so I need to finish it up and get it out the door. About five thousand words to polish up in this last (and final) draft.
Goal for the week is eleven thousand words. That will make me a nano winner, and push me into the end zone on the second novella. Only 26000 more words to go to hit my goal of 70000.
I’ve done some writing this week, but not enough, and I cut quite a bit so my gain doesn’t look very good at all, but now that Turkey Day is over I should be able to get back to work. Tomorrow.
Travel and holiday activities had me off writing since Tuesday. I did manage to get in 2230 words for the check-in today, so yay!
I also managed to do a little research while on holiday. The book is set in San Francisco and my husband and I were there on Friday. I talked him into walking along the cable car route where the action takes place because I wanted to get another look at the buildings and hear the sound of the tracks. I originally wrote it as a hissing rattle, but it’s really more of a hum.
I hope everyone had a good holiday! Since I’m not American, I didn’t have to risk a turkey-induced coma and I had already missed a number of writing days, I wrote right through.
End result: the book is done but I’m not very happy with it because it’s a lot shorter than the target (about 5 times shorter!) and most of it is pure cow dung.
On the bright side, it’s a lot more than I had ever written before. I’ve also learned a crucial lesson: plot everything. I have to resist the temptation to just jump in and start writing because as this book has shown me, I’m not a pantser. So now I’m going to spend the next few weeks plotting out my second WIP in DETAIL.

Okay, I missed the last check-in because I decided to take a break around Thanksgiving and spend a lot of time with my family. The good news is we now have a Christmas tree and lights both inside and out, which never happens this early in the season. We even managed to get in some Christmas shopping this weekend, though how we managed after eating excessive amounts of good food on Thursday, I’ll never know.
I’m glad to see that most of y’all are keeping up the pace, despite the holidays. I hope to get back on track this week, but… {sigh}
Back home and back to work. 1300 new words. Ok, so kinda back to work. I’m 31109 for my novel and 1580 for my short. Total = 32689, or a silly ass 800/day. Pushing on…
I met my goal today for the whole challenge, plus another 2K! I’m past the halfway point in Battlefront and I’m satisfied with my pacing, we’ll see what I think in another week. Granted I have only taken two days of the 23 day pad but with Christmas coming up and edits and revisions for several books I’ll need the time!
2224 words since the last check-in. Not bad. I have been spending time getting my Golden Heart entry ready so I do have that excuse. Once that puppy is in the mail I’ll do much better. Total words on WIP 87,323!

9750 since my last check-in, which means I can reach my goal! However, there can be no time off for bad behavior. Sven and Elen have reached an accord.
Hit the NaNoWriMo goal on Friday, and since I threw out the 3,000 words I wrote on the first two days of November, I write 50,000 in 21 days. Woot! The good news is that I’m not feeling burned out, which I often am after NaNo.
Even better news is that even though there are blank spots that read “Here Be Dragons,” I have a bare-bones first draft, enough that I’m now going through and figuring out the cast list (I tend to have large secondary casts) and what needs to go in the bare spots. Okay, I was away at a work conference most of the week, but I still managed 3201.

I didn’t do much of anything on the WIP this weekend. ~hangs head in shame~

still plugging away at the research. writing going slowly. I need to work on a query letter this week…

Didn’t make my weekly goal this week with all the holiday traffic (and by traffic I mean the parade of family I was expected to be social with). But I got 71% of my weekly words, so that’s not too bad I guess. I did some catching up on a few other things with my time off and even did some reading, which I haven’t bothered with in a while. Back on the band wagon writing and diet wise this week.

Even better news is that even though there are blank spots that read “Here Be Dragons,” I have a bare-bones first draft, enough that I’m now going through and figuring out the cast list (I tend to have large secondary casts) and what needs to go in the bare spots. I’ve given myself the rest of the month to work on this, then I’ll put it aside for a week or so and work on revisions for another project.
Also, I managed not to strangle any of my in-laws on Thanksgiving, which was an achievement in and of itself.

Hurray, I finished my historical novel tonight. Through Sunday, I had 10, 168 words since last Wednesday. I did a lot of writing over the holiday weekend.
