Me first, wow! I wish I had a hugely impressive number of words to display, but I don’t! A few hundred… Piles of research. A photo of my main character (found in a magazine - how should I go about asking for permission to post it on my blog?). And a finished scarf!
November 14th, 2007 at 10:32 am
I buckled down this week and wrote 9,866 words (I’ve reached and exceeded my weeks writing goal). I’ve finished the first draft and now I’m going back through it making evry at least coherent then I’ll tear it apart. My total word count is 45,194.

About 500 this week. I took my notebook with me, fully intending to write during downtime while I was in Portland, during the long drive to Yakima WA, but I confess that the scenery was so beautiful I couldn’t bear to focus on a blank page and miss the mountains or the tumbleweeds. My only downtime was spent sleeping; the bride kept me busy with the wedding, the sight-seeing, the drunken karaoke, and the good friends-good food.
Back to writing (and the gym) today.

The last couple of days have been massively productive. I got stuck on a sex scene. I really wasn’t in the mood so I put notes there instead and moved on. I still wasn’t int he mood when I got back there. I pulled out one of Portia’s books for inspiration and dreamt all night about my characters in some really great scenarios. Thanks, Portia!

5,698 since Sunday’s check in. NANO=25,886; SVEN=47,039

November 14th, 2007 at 11:00 am
I had yesterday off due to extreme lurgy *blech*
Today I’m been restructuring the first 2/3s of my No-4 wip as it’s a bit flat and I need more *umph* going into the last third, LOL
But I’m still happy with my Sven total. In a month I’ve written almost up to 37k. *squeee*

4200 since Sunday!
21,000 overall. I have one more chapter to write and then revisions to do. So my numbers will decrease after this week.
November 14th, 2007 at 11:12 am
I’ve written 9,000 words since the last check-in.
November 14th, 2007 at 11:28 am
I’ve not been as productive as I would’ve liked. End of book stumbles I think. But I’ve written 3620 words since Sunday morning. I’m almost done with this book, yay! And then next week is Thanksgiving. Not sure how productive I’ll be…
November 14th, 2007 at 12:26 pm
After a bit of a hiccup at the end of last week, with some lost days, I managed to get back into my groove more or less and have written 4101 words since Sunday. It’s been tough sometimes, and once or twice, I’ve not managed to actually write until the evening, but I’m proud of myself for pushing on through.
My current daily average is 1052 per day, which is acceptable although I’d love it to be higher. And my total since day one is 32638, which is nearly half the length of the book I’m writing. If I can keep this pace up, I’ll finish it in two and a bit months, which is amazing. However, I have an editing job on a novella coming up imminently, plus some proofs to correct which I know are in the works, so I may have to take some time out of my ’spare’ days, to do that work.
Anyway, having waffled on… well done to everybody else! Some great progress reported so far…
November 14th, 2007 at 12:28 pm
Hey, Keziah! Glad my books helped! What were you reading?
November 14th, 2007 at 12:31 pm
No word count. I’ve been handwriting at least a scene a night and doing some plotting. It’s moving. slowly, but surely.
November 14th, 2007 at 12:36 pm
My WiP is now at 19500.
November 14th, 2007 at 12:49 pm
No new words since Sunday since I’ve taken some ’spare days’ to just sit back and work on stock for a Christmas Fair I have a stall at on Saturday. I say sit back what I mean is work hard lol. I’m having to try really hard not to write anything because I know as soon as I do I wont go back to the stock and it really needs to get done. To make up for not writing I’m plotting in my head and things are working out quite well but I’ll see how well when it comes to writing them all down on Sunday.
Good luck everyone, you all seem to be doing great and when I get a spare moment I’ll pop around peoples journals to say hi.
November 14th, 2007 at 12:55 pm
4666 since Sunday. Yay! I still have a bit more to edit on the wip, but I’m writing ahead now and having fun. So I’m going to keep doing that.
November 14th, 2007 at 12:57 pm
4952 since Sunday and still writing. I’ve found the flow of this story and am getting through it.
November 14th, 2007 at 1:09 pm
As its been all along - up and down - I’m on an up right now hitting at a total of another 6 thousand since Sunday. =) We will be going on vacation starting Saturday and though I won’t be able to log my words on the computer I am going to write in a notebook. =)

November 14th, 2007 at 1:26 pm
Since Sunday’s check-in: 6,912 words, for a running total of 32,083 for my NaNo manuscript, which I’m writing concurrently with 70 Days. So I’m happy and rockin’ and rollin’ so far!
November 14th, 2007 at 1:26 pm
I haven’t kept track because I’m revising. So while I’m writing new words, I’m cutting words too. But the book is getting revised, so I figure that’s a good thing.
November 14th, 2007 at 1:42 pm
I revised a scene that I’d written before (probably several hundred words worth) and wrote a new scene that’s about 1200 words. Not terribly impressive, but I’m also heavily into the end of the semester countdown. And then comes a month of winter break and not a moment too soon
November 14th, 2007 at 1:48 pm
Total (new) word count is about 37,000. I’ve also done final edits and am now editing my first nano-novella while I draft the second one. This is a huge productivity jump for me. I was spending so much time spinning my wheels. Now I don’t let my day begin until I havea 1000 words done.
November 14th, 2007 at 2:45 pm
Not nearly enough… Only about 500 since Sunday.
November 14th, 2007 at 2:57 pm
Moving along here. About 5500 words since Sunday’s check-in and making plot progress, so I’m happy.
I think y’all are doing great!
November 14th, 2007 at 3:57 pm
I’m kinda ashamed to even show my face. :\ Today’s count so far is about 500 words. It’s not over of course and at least it’s something.
November 14th, 2007 at 4:09 pm
From last check in, about 5500 total on two different WIPs-and half of that was done Monday. Yesterday’s word count sucked rotten eggs.
November 14th, 2007 at 5:41 pm
3068 since Sunday, so on target.
Getting to the end of the first draft, i think
November 14th, 2007 at 5:45 pm
Still working on revising novella so haven’t been keeping a detailed track of word count for that but so far for Sven have 45,759 words with an average of 1,525.
November 14th, 2007 at 5:52 pm
After a revised goal of fixing the approximately 20 chapters I have, I can report that I’m at 4/20
November 14th, 2007 at 6:59 pm
Urgh. I have no idea. After a three week hiatus in which a stomach virus tried to kill me and I worked very hard at learning to eat again, it’s all a bit confused. But! Yesterday I was back writing again, and I’ve been writing today. Maybe no more than 1200 words in two days, but I’m writing!
November 14th, 2007 at 7:35 pm
Right now, a bit behind — only 3600 since Sunday. But the evening’s still young! Gonna see how many more I get done by midnight before updating the word meter on my site

I reached the 50K mark today, which is great! Though it does feel like the story is dragging in the middle. I keep reminding myself, it’s a first draft. It can drag and get talky. That’s what editing is for.
November 14th, 2007 at 8:00 pm
I’m at 36k+ for the Challenge work
I’m at 24 or 25k for the NaNo project
I’m figuring if I combine the counts together I’ll get somewhere in the range of 100k depending on the final project. Right now, I’m roughing in the areas that were abrupt changes and needed to have a smoother slide-in.
Will check in again later with more progress. I’d hoped to hit at least 50k by now with one of the projects, but alas not this time! Maybe Sunday, or not. Will be exhausted from the drive to Salinas I’m making with my mother and grandfather.
Only time will tell.

I’m doing okay.
A bit tired this week though.
November 14th, 2007 at 8:47 pm
Well I can report a decrease in words, actually. I axed 4,600 words and one of my supporting characters. This puts me about 3,900 in the hole or so. And I am ABSOLUTELY not inspired for any scene tonight. We’ve got a new 4 legged member of the household that’s robbing me of sleep and demanding more of my limited attention. This was not my idea…Just lots of demand for my time right now…night’s not over, but so far I only have 120 words for the day. Blah. New total is 28946. Blah.
November 14th, 2007 at 9:33 pm
I haven’t written anything since last check-in. I have no excuse.
November 14th, 2007 at 9:42 pm
Just under 5,000 words since last check in. Not quite on target but getting there.
November 14th, 2007 at 9:47 pm
Monday was a lost cause–and Nano is stealing some of my precious little time–but my count since Sunday could be worse: 2,700. And still more to add tonight.
November 14th, 2007 at 10:00 pm
I wrote 685 words yesterday, none yet today (just revisions). I’m at 43,000 words.
November 14th, 2007 at 11:05 pm
14 November:
Magic Touch:
Total word count = 10,157
New words written = 0
Double O Blonde
Total word count = 17,415
New words written = 2,230
My story is starting to kick into high gear. First a great scene between the heroine and one of her suitors, plus another scene with a big explosion. Boy I love this story. {grin}
Until Sunday, Take care………….Wayne
November 14th, 2007 at 11:41 pm
Still at it, although I’ve not been tracking my wordcount, except knowing that on the days I write, I get more than my original goal of 750. But I’ve been writing almost every day since last check-in, so I’m happy.
November 14th, 2007 at 11:50 pm
Since Sunday: 2,308 (but I’m not completely done for the day).
Total on the new MS: 3,177
Not much, but better than what I had going on the previous project.
November 14th, 2007 at 11:54 pm
Since Sunday: 4000 on my novel. Unchanged on my short, and I’m shelving it until after my WIP deadline. That makes 29700 on the novel, 31280 for the challenge, and 1009 words/day average.
November 15th, 2007 at 12:10 am
Gah, at least I’ve almost reached 37k today. However, I’m aware that I’m behind on my goals.
I’m catching up with the NaNo one and its streaming along smoothly, so I might wind up putting this one on hiatus. Not to mention the fact I really need to stay offline!
lol.
Okay. My last rambling post for this particular one done for the night.
November 15th, 2007 at 1:44 am
I just finished Standoff. I’m mushbrained, I cried three times and I’m totally proud of myself. Since Sunday I’ve written 17K words. I know it’s in me to put out 5 and 6K a day but I usually keep a lower wordcount. But I have big deadlines and I poured it on and pushed myself and I’m really happy with the result.
Now I have edits on two other books to finish up, I’ll let this book sit until next week and in the interim, get back onto Battlefront.
I’m determined to control my writing and not let it control me. The last week has been huge for me, life altering in some major ways and because I’ve had this challenge and picked this book up early, I was able to deal with it needing to be in early for a pushed up pub date and then to hit the ground running on my next deadline.
It’s a good moment for me as I can be a slacker if I want to, LOL!
November 15th, 2007 at 1:59 am
I’m a day late and a dollar short, but I’m still going. Life has suddenly exploded and I have a housand and one things to do on top of writing, editing up a book is just one of those things! However I am writing and I keep plodding on. I’ve written just about 6k words this week and I managed around 8 last week. It’s low, I know but I know I’ll have loads of time in a few weeks to really get down to business.
Sadly, it looks like I’ll be failing NaNoWriMo again this year, though
November 15th, 2007 at 4:16 am
Not too bad this week.
NaNo total = 7,303
Sven total = 12,383 (I much prefer my Sven total!)
I’m very pleased with my progress so far, especially as being really busy at work has meant that I haven’t always had time during lunch to write. :oD
November 15th, 2007 at 5:18 am
I’m late checking in, but my midweek total is 3287 bringing my challenge total to 47733 words.
I’ve done some character development and plot development on the newest story I started and I just started working on Lisia’s Journey again after about a week and a half of doing almost nothing on it.
November 15th, 2007 at 9:47 am
Okay, everyone whooped my butt on the word count, but I DID get a thousand words a day this week so I am happy!! And now that I have done something insane and entered the Golden Heart I HAVE to make my word count! So since Sunday’s post I have written 1250!
November 15th, 2007 at 10:40 am
The past two weeks have been useless word count wise–but I just sent in my dedication/acknowledgments to my editor and am totally feeling inspired. Plus, I probably forgot someone–so I NEED to write another book to be sure everyone gets proper acknowledgment- yes?
November 15th, 2007 at 11:09 am
This week I’ve written 3691, that’s for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
My overall Sven count is 24381. Yay me!
November 15th, 2007 at 9:15 pm
Wednesday total was 1002. Week total to Wed since last check in was 8057, which brings the word count up to 18120. I may not make NaNo *sigh* the way it’s looking. But my Sven total is 44042! Which just thrills me to no end. It has motivated me to write daily.
November 16th, 2007 at 10:51 pm
Wednesday total: 3824, and I’m still puttering away on Man’s World- my historical romance. 7 chapters to go and the book is done, so I hope to finish by Sunday if life doesn’t get too much in the way. Then, I’ll need to get going on the NaNo project. Aargh! Working for a living really slows me down - but it looks like I have next week off. That could change as soon as I check online and see if there’s work.
Keep writing everybody.
November 17th, 2007 at 7:33 am
Sorry I didn’t post this earlier, but I have been ill (in the hospital with a bronchial/lung infection), in and out of the shop having work done on my car, had to get it re-inspected, fixed, license renewed, plus the daily life that comes along with being a mother of two teenage girls. Still, managed to finish my book (at 50,078 words currently, subject to change in future) and submit it to the Gather Mystery/Crime contest! Whew! Anyone interested can read the first chapter there. THanks! This has been quite the experience!
